Pros: Loved this little Machiya House. Exactly like the pictures. Felt traditional and authentic. Futon was comfortable and location was pretty. Ticked off my Machiya Experience.

Pros: Great location, heating tatami floor, large bath Cons: NA.

Located conveniently close to Kyoto station but tucked in a picturesque small alley away from the traffic.
Lovely place to stay and Miyabi was a great host.

Clean, neat little place with upstairs and downstairs rooms. Upstairs sleeps four with a normal efficient use of space for inner city Japan.

We booked Hotel Kanso for 4 days in Kyoto and had a great stay. The room was very spacious—there was enough space for our 3 big bags, and we still had room to move comfortably.

Very beautiful Machiya in the downtown, amazing 100 years old wooden house. 5 minutes walk to the nearby subway station. A lot of restaurants around.

This is a nicely renovated 2-storey machiya on a quiet street. Downstairs there is a small kitchen, living room, bathroom, separate toilet and washing machine.

Located at the heart of Kyoto's most historic area, the cozy yet spacious Machiya offers an enhanced Japanese experience, magnifying the serene surroundings.

We had experienced the three nice quiet nights here, almost can’t hear any sounds after 8 pm.
And bikes are free to use.
The drawback is only one lamp in the room, too dusky.

My stay in Bird Hostel was amazing. The staff is so nice and helpful! They really do everything to make you at ease. Great location, great bedrooms and bathrooms. A place where you feel good and safe.

The service is excellent. The staff is very friendly and respectful. I had a good time during the time of stay. It is worth returning again.

Excellent location — lots of transport and food options in area. The host is lovely and rooms comfortable and clean. Lovely host. As an FYI the stairs are steep to get to your room.

Traditional Japanese house which includes tatami mat rooms and futons. Owner is very attentive and kind. Amazing location on a very quiet street just a block from a subway station.

Very near to kyoto station and the infamous geisha street (ard 10-15 mins walking distance). Receptionist was friendly and accommodating. The ryokan was clean and tidy.

It's the best location if you want to explore Gion. The hosts are very friendly and helpful. The best thing about the place is the atmosphere, it's pure Japanese style.

Gion Kyuraku is a beautifully preserved traditional machiya townhouse in Kyoto’s historic Gion district.

Lady was very nice to me! And the house was amazing! There was a supermarket just nearby where I could by ingredients to cook every time I missed home!

I have stayed in a couple livemax hotels and this was my favorite. The room, while small, was laid out in a good manner. My room was clean, newly updated, and had no smells.

No frills, but clean and conveniently located. Feels like a real Kyoto experience.

We Had a pleasent 5 night stay, very Clean and comfy Apartment. Nice kitchen, nice bath and an easy to handle washing Machine.

Stayed here as an AirBNB for a few nights to be a tourist in Kyoto. Location was great and the host was very responsive. Looked on booking. Com and seemed a lot more expensive.
