What a lovely guesthouse! When I arrived at the reception, I just fell in love with the vibes of the room—simple but feels warm. 💛 The receptionist was friendly and nice.

Pros: We loved everything from the social area to the rooms to the bathrooms. There is a social area downstairs and one upstairs. We didn't use the upstairs one, but really enjoyed the downstairs one.

I recently stayed at this hotel and overall had a good experience. The place is very clean and the staff are friendly and welcoming.

We really enjoyed our stay — everything was clean, and the staff were amazing. We had our luggage sent from our hotel in Tokyo to Hop Inn with no issues.

So convenient next to metro station and convenience stores near by. Host was very welcoming.

Recommended place to stay in kyoto, close to Station.

I stayed here for two nights at the Ume room on the first floor with a beautiful little garden. My room was so spacious. I travelled solo and enjoyed the two futon set up kindly provided by the owner.

I love this hotel. It was nice and very, very cosy. The room downstairs was very comfortable with a cute garden and a private porch. My children stayed upstars and eere very happy.

Incredible ryokan in the heart of Kyoto. Owner was the best… super helpful and very friendly. Perfect location close to Kyoto station and historical district.

Great service, food amazing. The sukiyaki we got the second night was so good! The building is quite aged but they do their best with top notch hospitality, food and service.

My family and I had a great time. Perfect location. Staff are attentive and gracious. The meals were delicious. I used the bath house every day while here and was always the only person there.

Service was top-notch; view from the private bath was beautiful! Meals were alright — the Ryokan we visited n the outskirts of Tokyo set a high bar for us so in comparison we were a tad disappointed.

The room was incredible. I lived here recently with my family (total 4) and we had booked the Quad Room. They gave us the top floor (6th floor) entire room.

My daughter suggest me to book this hotel on a bit of a whim because it looked quaint and was reasonably priced, but it ended up as one of the loveliest bits of our stay in kyoto, she was right to

Amazing room with huge comfortable bed and baths. We had one open air bath and one indoors and both were amazing. Only stayed one night but wish we stayed longer.

If you don’t mind something a little more quaint, it’s very cozy and the price is unbeatable especially for the location which is outstanding.

Location is perfect, being at walking distance to most of the most important spots in Kyoto.

This a really great option for travelers looking to stay in a ryokan without spending too much money! The location is good, in walking distance of Shijo Dori, Gion Corner, and the Kiyomizu Dera.

The location of this place is a little outside the city center but with the metro station right next door, it wasn't a problem for us.

It locates in a quiet neighborhood. The building is an authentic Japanese style wooden house. You can really see how Japanese lives in daily life. The staff is friendly and willing to help.

Very unique hotel room but very comfortable. The free bar was a nice touch. The hotel is a short bus ride from the station.

Small hotel, tucked away in a relatively quiet part of Kyoto. 10 min walk to the Tambaguchi Station JR station to get to Kyoto Station, which is a 5 min journey, so very accessible.

The hotel has a great location, close to the station, and within walking distance of many attractions. The shopping centre is just a few minutes' walk away. The hotel service was excellent.

Very nice vintage like rooms, you feel like you are living in a previous, simpler time, although all the facilities are modern and convenient.

It was a nice location, and the Guest House Host was kind.
The bed was a bit uncomfortable, and our toilet was downstairs away from the room.

The owner is welcoming and does speak some English. Room and facilities were clean and there was tea and coffee making facilities as well as a fridge.
The room design wasn't ideal.

We really loved our time at the Guesthouse Kioto, the hosts are lovely and we got a fantastic japanese breakfast too, with slight variations on multiple days.

We stayed for 3 nights in a traditional tatami room and absolutely loved the experience we shared. The staff are extremely respectful, the amenities offered were above and beyond.
