The exact ryokan experience we were hoping to get in Kyoto. Beautiful, traditional building and rooms, absolutely incredible Japanese breakfast each morning, and comfortable futons.

I stayed in the single room at Inn Kawashima for 7 nights. It’s a quiet place to rest and recharge after going out for the day.

Small apartments walkable from Kyoto station. Compact, but great kitchenette, table and two chairs, washing machine. Compact and great for our 5 day stay.

The location is awesome. Staff here recommended some 5 to 10 mins walk restaurants which are excellent. This place is very convenient yet quiet enough for a good sleep.

Very convenient location. Rooms are spacious and well equipped. Pretty close to Gion and Nishiki market.

The host is very friendly, providing personalized sightseeing recommendations on hand-drawn notes that are both cute and detailed. The location is excellent! The house is clean and well-maintained!

We lodged for two nights Wind Villa. We came to Kyoto for the rich culture experience, the unique shopping, the scenic Autumn colors, and the warm people. We were not disappointed!

I had a wonderful week-long stay here. The space was spotless and had everything I needed. I especially loved the high ceiling and window in my room — it made the space feel bright and airy.

Perfect location right in the heart of Gion. Great place to base yourself in Kyoto. Staff were lovely and welcoming. Rooms are clean and quiet but on the smaller side.

We are from NYC. This was our first visit to Japan. We spent all our time outside the hotel exploring and eating our way thru Kyoto, Nara & Osaka. We enjoyed 5 nights at Rinn Gion Kenninji.

Great hotel! like a 20min walk from kyoto station, a little bit up hill tho. Check in at 4pm.

Overall, I was happy with my experience with this hotel. However, there are some issues that would prevent me from returning or recommending the hotel to solo travelers in the future.

My husband and I stayed at Maana Kiyomizu for 3 nights while on our first visit to Japan.

Maana is a perfect homebase for visiting Kyoto. We loved that it was tucked away from the hustle and bustle but also close to everything.

Every staff member at Junei was extremely attentive, always very willing to help, accommodating and polite. The facilities were immaculate. Breakfast was phenomenal.

This was a truly wonderful hotel. It is located in a quiet neighborhood but very convenient to subway lines that took us everywhere.

Stayed here for 3 days. Amenities are on the first floor, along with the microwave and water. I didn’t have any problems with check-in (booked through Agoda).

I had a truly wonderful stay! The hospitality of the hosts was exceptional — warm, kind, and always willing to help. They made me feel welcome from the moment I arrived.

An absolute must stay in Kyoto! It is a traditional house, with very kind hosts that keep iced tea and sweets for you when you return from the long days of walking.

I visited on the 10th of the month. My friend and I walked through the hot sun from JR Kyoto Isetan. When I arrived, I was greeted warmly. The owner speaks English well.

Not close to a lot of stuff, but it was a great hotel/Airbnb I guess. No person there to check us in everything was done online, which was also great.

The room itself is great. More space than most.
Washing machine. Clean. New. Only downside is thin walls. Can hear people upstairs walking and neighbors moving around.
Location is not great.

Loved that I stayed here! From checkin to checkout… everything was smooth. Welcomed with tea and a hot towel and someone personally escorted me to my room and explained everything.

Kayoko, the host, was incredibly kind and made us feel completely at home.
