My 4-n stay (¥11, 800) at UNKNOWN's dormitory was fantastic. The ambience of the repurposed old house was really nice. The futon was comfortable and the privacy curtains made it easy to sleep well.

I paid for a bunk bed but they gave me a full room. It was really nice.
The free bicycles are a very good way of traveling through Kyoto. I recommend this place. The staff were nice.

I had amazing experience staying at Hotel Kitanoya for one night! I got the room with the private hot spring, which is very spacious and has all the things you need.

This hotel is insanely good. The huge rooms! Comfy bedding! The service level! But my standout was the Kaiseki breakfasts. Completely next level with the finest ingredients.

The staff were very helpful and the hotel room was very good with a small balcony. The bathroom was superb and it’s the best stay throughout my Japan trip.

Exquisite hotel — only 10 rooms, really high end decoration and impeccable service. Strongly recommend the Japanese style rooms with private onsen and private garden.

It’s a good walk from the main station so get the local train service to Toji (1 stop) and walk around the corner to it. Doing this there is a small Nepal/Indian restaurant near the overpass that do

The hotel is situated in a not-so-busy area but is so close to public transportation options. I am happy to discover the area, especially when I joined their activity to the Toji Temple.

I like this hotel. The beds in Japan are really firm basically like a floor. Sun Royal has a decent bed and like most of the hotels in Japan the restroom is great and the toilets are awesome.

I have been in this hotel for 8 nights. Really great. Room super clean, kitchen furnished with all the basic tools and bathroom with washing machine.

I stayed here for three nights. Great location in a real neighborhood which gives you an authentic Japanese experience. It's close to most attractions, shopping areas, and the Kyoto train station.

If you want to experience traditional Japanese room and service then book this hotel. But I recommend staying for just 1 night. I feel like the room needs some cleaning and updating.

Absolutely stunning Ryokan in the mountains of Kyoto. Beautiful and traditional stay. We used the shuttlebus from Hanazono which was really convenient.

It is a little dated but that added to the charm for me. The staff was wonderful. The food was delicious. The setting was magical. I really liked having a private outside hot tub.

We went a few days ago with my partner, we stayed 4 nights since we wanted to live the experience of a typical house and it was beautiful!

If you don’t mind something a little more quaint, it’s very cozy and the price is unbeatable especially for the location which is outstanding.

Great Inn to stay at when in Kyoto.
Location is perfect, being at walking distance to most of the most important spots in Kyoto.
The host is awesome, cheerful and very helpfull in general.

Had a great time here. Honestly no idea how this place is priced this way but it feels like a 350 per night ryokan for 1/3 the cost.

The rooms are traditional, you sleep on futons on the floor but they were surprisingly comfortable! The chairs for the table are also low. There is an elevator.

The host was super helpful and responsive! They let us early check-in because the room was ready. Definitely will comeback if we ever come to Kyoto!

Over all a great place to stay. Big shower and bathtub, the hot water system is divine. A quiet neighborhood to get a proper rest. A decent elevator for big luggage. Heater works great.
