When visiting Kyoto, remember that Japanese hotel rooms can be very compact—sometimes there's barely floor space to lay an open suitcase flat—so it pays to check the exact room size in square meters. Also, the city charges a mandatory nightly accommodation tax per person, so when weighing a few similar options, compare their 24-hour amenities alongside total costs. Confirm the exact room dimensions and included perks before you reserve.

Can say enough to convey how much we loved being here for 5 nights. Absolutely no complaints about anything. The hotel is a very modern restrained japanese aesthetic.
The only highrise hotel in the nostalgia fishing town, Miyazu. It's 5 sty high to be clear.
Great value at 16, 000 to 20, 000 yen per night In Sakura season!
Stayed in the “standard king room”, honestly better than most 4 star rooms in Japan, pleasantly surprised!

We stayed in several hotels throughout our two week Japan trip, and this hotel (and Kyoto in general) was by far our favorite. It is spotlessly clean and classy.
Nohga surpassed our expectations and will stand out as a highlight of our Japanese holiday. Staff were flawlessly professional and accommodating from front desk, bakery and restaurant.
Our stay at NOHGA Hotel Kyoto was fantastic from start to finish. Everything was impeccable: the facilities, the comfort, and the overall atmosphere.

Great hotel. Spacious room as we took the standard room (31m2) with separate shower, sink and toilet area. Staff was attentive, helpful and can understand English very well.
I haven’t had such an amazing experience at a hotel before. Hotel Emion may be a 3-star hotel but it feels like a 5-star hotel with 10/10 service from the staff.

We had a wonderful stay at the Hilton Kyoto. Our room was spacious, modern, very well equipped, and had a fantastic view.

We absolutely loved our stay at Umekoji Potel Kyoto.
Although it's only about a 10-minute walk from Kyoto Station, we actually preferred staying here rather than in the busy station area.
We had such a good time here. We were a little reluctant because it outside of the city, we almost where going to cancel. Really glad we didn't the train station is close by and and also the bus stop.
Quiet yet convenient location with a beautiful park in the vicinity. Room is larg6and clean. Staff are warm and sincere, especially Ms Aina Sao, a housekeeper, and Alan, a waiter of the restaurant.
Japanese budget business hotels are famous for having super compact unit bathrooms and snug beds, so it's smart to check photos and exact mattress dimensions before booking. If your travel dates to Japan might still shift, definitely pick a room with free cancellation so your plans stay flexible. Take a close look at bathroom pictures and refund policies right on the property page.

Absolutely LOVE this place. The staff are so incredibly friendly and nice. Their English is great and I love talking to them and making conversation in Japanese as well.
All in all it was a pretty nice stay. Unfortunately there were cameras everywhere so you couldn’t really change in a room without being recorded.

I’ve been to kyoto many times and have stayed at several different accommodations and can say with my chest that BB Hachi is hands down the BEST.
Chie is a very nice and friendly host. The girls from the staff did a perfect job and were also very kind and friendly. I would recommend the yoga and tea ceremony.
Great traditional bed and breakfast. Very clean and staff is always happy to help.

Absolutely amazing, centrally located and affordable. Li, the owner, goes put of his way to make you feel at home. Lots of toiletries to use and laundry service.
Amazing booking experience!
This was my first time booking a room in Japan and the experience was absolutely wonderful.
Very nice place. Pretty afordable and in a nice and quiet residential area. Easy access to to both tram and bus.
The guesthouse is very comfortable, clean, and well maintained, feels like home. It is located in a lovely quiet neighborhood, perfect for those looking for a relaxing time away from the crowd.

In Japan, hotels take the standard 3:00 PM check-in time very seriously, so finding a place near Kyoto station with free luggage storage means you can drop your bags and head straight out to explore the shrines. When picking a hotel, pay attention to which side of the massive rail complex it sits on—the north side opens towards the bus terminal, while the south Hachijo exit leads straight to the shinkansen bullet train tracks. Double-check walking routes from your platform and confirm their luggage storage rules.

Hotels in Kyoto with Parking
Real estate in Kyoto is at a premium, so truly free parking is a rare find, and on-site mechanical elevator parking usually comes with a noticeable daily fee. These automated parking towers also have strict height and wheel-track limits and often require booking your slot ahead of time by phone or email. Always check the vehicle size limits in the description and reserve your parking spot in advance.

Small guesthouses tucked into converted wooden machiya townhouses typically feature tatami floors with traditional futon bedding and only have two or three guestrooms, which get snapped up six months ahead of cherry blossom and autumn foliage peaks. Morning cafes in these heritage neighborhoods tend to open late, so scope out a nearby 24-hour konbini or bakery down the block for a quick morning bite. Keep the unique traditional setup in mind and secure your dates well in advance.

Japanese hostels and capsule hotels are impeccably clean, but it's always wise to read guest reviews about ventilation inside sleeping pods and the upkeep of shared washrooms. Also, keep some coins handy, as renting bath towels, loungewear, or toothbrushes at the front desk often requires a small cash fee paid through a vending machine. Check what amenities are covered or paid, and choose spots with top hygiene ratings.
I stayed there for a few nights during my visit to Kyoto. If you’re a man travelling alone, it’s a good place to stay.
