Wonderful hotel and staff rooms are great but the hotel is a bit dated.

My wife and I had a great stay at Hotel Alza Kyoto. The room was surprisingly spacious and very quiet, even though the hotel is close to the main areas of Kyoto.

Stayed for six nights at the RC Hotel in Kyoto in January and we had a very nice and comfortable stay here.
Getting there from Kyoto station took around 15-20 minutes by bus and foot.

HIDDEN GEM! The layout gives you that Japanese feeling. Bed is on the floor just like they do it. We absolutely loved it.
You are dead smack in the middle of the action during the day.

Perfect location in the heart of Kiyomizudera, just one street away from the crowded tourist area. Easy walk to Sannenzaka, Ninenzaka, Gion, and other spots.

Very beautiful hotel located on a quiet residential street. The staff were attentive and helpful from check-in to check-out.

Really solid capsule hotel. The capsules are quite nice, very comfortable and have everything you need. Locker is a decent size, bigger than some other capsule hotels.

Fantastic location if you are looking to stay in the Gion area. Rooms are surprisingly spacious for a Japanese hotel and it has good amenities including a laundromat.

My family of three had a wonderful stay at Laon Inn Gion Nawate. Despite being located in the bustling Shijo district of Kyoto, the hotel room offered excellent soundproofing.

One of the most memorable places in the time I was living in Japan, just because it is raw traditional and hidden gem, doing this review just to find it later when I go back.

My friend and I were wandering around Sannenzaka when we stumbed upon this place. There was a sign for Obanzai and the entrance tunnel kind of reminds me of the one Chihiro walked through.

My second visit to this amazing family-run inn. The hosts are very friendly and helpful. The rooms have been cool in summer and cozy in winter, and always quiet.

This is the first time I've stayed here, we got the suite, the room is so clean and so much newer than the photos on the website.

Me and my twin adult sons have been traveling the world for almost 10 years and these accommodations beat ANY other pound for pound.

Fantastic little guesthouse with amazing owners. Made us a fantastic breakfast each morning and even dropped us to the station to catch our train.

An absolute must stay in Kyoto! It is a traditional house, with very kind hosts that keep iced tea and sweets for you when you return from the long days of walking.

Not close to a lot of stuff, but it was a great hotel/Airbnb I guess. No person there to check us in everything was done online, which was also great.

The room itself is great. More space than most.
Washing machine. Clean. New. Only downside is thin walls. Can hear people upstairs walking and neighbors moving around.
Location is not great.

Our family enjoyed the Japanese experience. The host was charming, eccentric and always helpful.
The sleeping room is large and comfortable. The garden is peaceful and the breakfast just right.

A traditional house in the heart of Kyoto, very close to many points of interest including the Gion district and the very famous Kyomizu-dera.

This is a really great hotel with very affordable price and quite near to Kyoto Station. The house rules are kinda overwhelming at first and it's fully self service.

I can't fault this place for the price that wouldn't cover the cost of the cleaner in Australia. Easy to find on a lovely quiet street a short walk from. The station.

An urban ryokan oasis blending new and old in a very stylish way. Apparently the building is a 100 year old carpenters workshop which has been converted to a ryokan.

This was truly a phenomenal experience all around. I can't say enough nice things about this boutique hotel.

We were very pleased with the room layout and amenities.

Steps from the hotel is Sanjo Station on the Keihan Main Line and honestly, this alone is reason enough to stay here.

Interesting experience for a foreigner but well worth it. There are some rules to follow as it's more of an inn than a hotel or abb (and cheaper).

A perfect place to come back to and relax after a day of sightseeing in Kyoto. The building is tucked away in a quiet neighborhood amongst a number of lovely shrines.

We stayed 4 nights at Sui hostel and we had a lovely stay. Once we entered, there were warm lights, soft music with incense! Amazing!

This was my second experience at a capsule hotel, and I must say it was absolutely fantastic!

The apartment was spacious and super clean. However, there are additional charges for everything, extra futon, coffee pod, car park (even though the apartment has a car park).

The house was very spacious and extremely clean. The owner was very helpful and friendly, and allowed us to enter early, so we could store our bags.

Lovely hotel on the mountain great host delicious local japanese dinner and breakfast!

We had a wonderful stay in this ryokan. The lady there was very nice and helpful. I recommend this ryokan to rest after a long trip in busy japanese cities. The food was also amazing!

Absolutely great property we really enjoyed our stay and would definitely stay again. Just a 10 minute walk from station.

The host was very helpful indeed to us on arriving at our first accommodation in Japan. There are local buses available very close by to and from Kyoto Station at a low cost.

Lovely inside, onsen leaves you skin really soft. Some of the best food I've eaten anywhere, and plentiful too. Lovely owners, who helped us out with a lift back to town. Highly recommended.

HIGHLY recommend! It was possibly the nicest room I have ever stayed in — no detail was overlooked. Our private bath was a dream. The food was AMAZING.

I was supposed to stay in another place that was terrible so I found Ryokan hostel last minute and it was FANTASTIC!

Very happy with my stay. Excellent location, around 10 mins walk to a station. Laundry machines across the street.

Very clean. Centrally located. Rooms bright and airy. Bunch bed style.
Towels are 300 yen. And then there is 200 yen per day tax. Did not see this info on booking page.

Jam is wonderful! I have stayed there a few times, and would absolutely go back. The owners are incredibly friendly and kind, with great English.

This was the most beautiful experience for us here in Japan, thanks to Hiro-San who take care of every detail to make our stay pleasant as possible, very kind staff and clean hotel.
