The Alza was excellent. Great location on the river so some rooms have gorgeous view. In the Gion district, one of the most attractive places in Kyoto.
Wonderful hotel and staff rooms are great but the hotel is a bit dated.
My wife and I had a great stay at Hotel Alza Kyoto. The room was surprisingly spacious and very quiet, even though the hotel is close to the main areas of Kyoto.

Absolutely loved my stay here. Originally booked three nights but loved the area and Kyoto so much I stayed for almost two weeks. The place is SO CLEAN and you get a fresh towel every day!
The bestest hostel I have ever stayed in my years of backpacking life!
One of the best hostels I’ve ever stayed!
I was supposed to stay in another place that was terrible so I found Ryokan hostel last minute and it was FANTASTIC!
Incredible place to stay — every bit as beautiful as the photographs. It has fantastic old furniture, the owner is very nice and helpful and speaks English well.
Amazing stay at a traditional ryokan. I woke up to sakuras falling into the cobbled street and fell asleep watching at the shadows projected into the shoji screens.
Great location and really cool historic kyoto building. The landlady was also super helpful and very patient with my bad Japanese. The private baths were also a plus.
Such a wonderful experience to have while visiting kyoto. Beautiful location, and great hosts. We enjoyed a private traditional breakfast during our stay. Would definitely recommend.

Very nice room with all you need available. Very friendly and helpful staff. Especially the young man who checked us in went out of his way to help us throughout our stay. Thank you all!
We had a wonderful stay at this hotel! It’s in a great location, making it very easy to get to all the interesting spots in Kyoto.
The hotel was great, honestly the only thing I didn't like was not having a window. Also my allergies went crazy here too but the main lady who works there was so nice and accommodating!
We stayed at this lovely traditional Japanese house near Kyoto station. Clean, fully equipped and close to malls. The Japanese landlady was wonderful and accommodating. Enjoyed our stay.
Ramon & Liaurt at the pool bar is great, always happy and willing to help. Really recommend La siesta to anyone. We will definitely be back.
Amazing hotel and the staff are fabulous especially Ramon and Anton, who can't do enough for everyone.
Spotless, everything you could need is here or close by, love it.

Tucked away in a quiet alley in Higashiyama is this little inn and traditional Kyoto meal restaurant helmed by an incredible mother and daughter team (they shared that the serving plates are
Went here for lunch. Found this little gem by coincidence. Friendly staff, good food (had the 4 dishes meal with beef), and a true japanese experience with private rooms and seeted on the floor.
One of the most memorable places in the time I was living in Japan, just because it is raw traditional and hidden gem, doing this review just to find it later when I go back.

We had the best time! A Beautiful traditional Kyoto house in a cute neighbourhood. The owners are sooo nice and helpful and the homecooked food was amazing! We even got a ride to the trainstation!
If you like to avoid the touristic Gion and stay in a more genuine Japanese home this is perfect. The couple that owns this small inn is very nice and helpful.
Fantastic little guesthouse with amazing owners. Made us a fantastic breakfast each morning and even dropped us to the station to catch our train.
Highly recommend.
