Based on facilities it's not a 5-star hotel, but it sure comes close. The room was small but well equipped and spotlessly clean. Excellent bed. Well-equipped bathroom with American shower.

Possibly the loveliest, most relaxing hotel I have ever stayed in. This is a 19 room hotel on the riverside in a quiet part of central Kyoto.

An excellent stay in Kyoto. We stayed in the executive King Room which had a view of Yasaka shrine…Big room with lovely bathroom, and huge comfortable bed.

I don't know where to start on how much my husband and I loved Hotel Seiryu. From the moment we turned into the drive we felt in awe. Check-in was very smooth and our room was GORGOUS.

We thought this hotel was fine. It was very easy to get to (we used the 206 bus from Kyoto which stops right outside) and was a 15 minute walk from the centre of Gion.

Loved my stay at Gion Elite Terrace so much that I cancelled the check in at another hotel so I could stay an extra night. We booked the superior king with sauna and it was worth every penny.

My husband and I had the privilege of staying at this luxury hotel, and our experience was truly exceptional. Even though we arrived late in the evening, we were warmly welcomed at the front entrance.

This is an amazing hotel, you won’t believe what you are walking into from a busy street. The little path way leads into a quite luxurious boutique Japanese building and garden.

I’ve been to Kyoto numerous times and this is by far the best hotel I’ve stayed in. The location is perfect, as it is on a quiet street but still close to all the action.

Hidden gem in Kyoto. The rooms are massive. Very hard to find rooms this big and unique. The room includes a tea room, and a balcony with a beautiful view of Kyoto.

The rooms are great fabulous size for Japan. Has a shower and bath in a room with hanging space for your washing as there is a washer dryer.

For a 3 Star hotel, this place definitely exceeded our expectations! The amenities are all well stocked. The room is spacious with 4 super single beds.

Where to begin, they're part of the Banyan group so you expect a level of service and luxury and Dhawa Yura did not disappoint.

I stayed at the Tassel hotel 6 nights in September 2025.
I really liked the hotel: it’s comfortable, clean, nice and modern, with a great location to visit Kyoto and helpful staff.

This was the perfect place to serve as a base for our holiday in Kyoto.

Cheapest price weve paid out of 3 bookings weve made and it was the best one. Close to the bus stop, everythings withing walking distance. Staff were very helpful and friendly.

Great hotel at affordable rates. Maybe 20 mins walking distance to Gion and 1 min to Kyoto subway, 10 mins taxi from Kyoto station. Rooms were well appointed and immaculate.

Amazing Ryokan in Gion. Walking distance to the big tourist spots in the area, as well as restaurants closer to the river. Backs up to a beautiful park as well.

Upon arrival, the check in staff were very helpful and informative. She explained everything we needed for our visit.

My wife and I stayed two nights at Six Senses from Feb. 16 until the 18th, 2026. It was our 15th anniversary and the hotel staff provided two really nice hand written anniversary cards.

Everything was perfect. Prior to our arrival the communication via email was great. The day of our arrival we got there late and they waited for us and received us pleasantly.

I just moved from a 4 star to this 3 star and the beds are bigger, comfier and the room is more spacious. Self check in was simple, Wi-Fi works and AC too.

Just enjoyed our 5D4N at Kyoto & we stayed at Hiz Hotel Gion Shirakawa as our base. Very charming apartment hotel.

The location is very convenient, with easy access to transportation and nearby facilities, making travel around Kyoto very easy.

We loved staying here. My favourite part about this hotel was its location. Away from the hustle and bustle of Gion, but walking distance or a quick bus ride to the main streets.

Wonderful location. Perfect spot to get to the MOMA and Rohm theater as well as walking distance to a bunch of great shops and restaurants.

I had a very pleasant stay so I’m giving it 5 stars. Very close to the train station and 3 convenience stores. At scheduled times, they would provide free udon and alcoholic beverages.
