Amazing location on a central street in Sanjo, within walking distance of all the main shopping areas and with easy access to sightseeing spots and other cities.

Had a lovely stay here — The location is ideal as it is on the main road in central Kyoto as well as close to the river, however not noisy at all.

We thought this hotel was fine. It was very easy to get to (we used the 206 bus from Kyoto which stops right outside) and was a 15 minute walk from the centre of Gion.

Loved my stay at Gion Elite Terrace so much that I cancelled the check in at another hotel so I could stay an extra night. We booked the superior king with sauna and it was worth every penny.

It was my first time staying in a hostel, and I feel so lucky that I found this one in Kyoto. The location is perfect — super convenient to get anywhere, with lots of great food and shops nearby.

Easily the best hotel/hostel experience I had in Japan — by a wide margin.

Loved this hotel! Favorite stay while we were in Japan. Our bed was comfortable, our room was a good size and luxury bathroom.

Would book again, 100/10. The hotel location was walkable to many of our must visits, and, was just a few minutes from the bus stop. Shopping and food options within the area, and it stayed quiet.

Location to the river and restaurants and bars. Staff were very helpful and diligent in their tasks. Breakfast was amazing, it catered for all people’s tastes and was very healthy food.

What a pleasant stay! Nice rooms, all well managed. Breakfast could be better, I mean they are ok, but could be more rich. Otherwise, I definitely would stay again.

I happened to randomly find this hotel while searching for areas to stay for our trip to Kyoto, and I’m so incredibly happy I did.

This ryokan met, and even exceeded our expectations. The staff were incredibly friendly and always available to help and answer questions. The room was fantastic, and the location was perfect.

The room was so big, especially for Japan! The location was great as well and the staff were super nice and helpful.
They also had a laundry machine and a dryer in the room which was niiice.

Easy to check in, elevator is small so if you have lots of bags you may have to make a few trips. Room is very spacious, on top floor so we get a bit of a view of the temples. Would stay again.

Fantastic authentic inn located in gion area. Very quiet. Steep steps to sleeping so able bodied only. Air con. Lovely communication and greeting by staff.

The location of this place is a little outside the city center but with the metro station right next door, it wasn't a problem for us.

First time traveling to Japan, we found out this place to practice traditional Japanese archery. Really kind people working in there and amazingly friendly people.

The location is great. Literally on the street with many stores, restaurants and activities.
The room is large, no huge. It has both a traditional living room with tatami and a modern living room.

Location is very good. Everything you need in the room bedding a little bit hard staff very friendly. Rooms are a little bit small but there’s a Japanese style.

We had a great stay at this hotel. We lived there for a week. I decided to put review because many negative ones. It was tidy and very cozy.

Beautiful hotel in the perfect location, offering a true traditional Japanese experience. The rooms are spacious and comfortable, and having a washing machine available is a huge bonus for travellers.

I stayed here for almost a week and I really enjoyed my stay. It’s a family run ryokan and the family is very hospitable and friendly. They made me feel very welcome.

Coming back to Gion Sano feels like coming home, they have four big friendly dogs which slowly walk around in the day and are very calm.

I’ve been to Kyoto numerous times and this is by far the best hotel I’ve stayed in. The location is perfect, as it is on a quiet street but still close to all the action.

Hidden gem in Kyoto. The rooms are massive. Very hard to find rooms this big and unique. The room includes a tea room, and a balcony with a beautiful view of Kyoto.

My husband and I had the privilege of staying at this luxury hotel, and our experience was truly exceptional. Even though we arrived late in the evening, we were warmly welcomed at the front entrance.

This is an amazing hotel, you won’t believe what you are walking into from a busy street. The little path way leads into a quite luxurious boutique Japanese building and garden.

Stayed here back in February for one night and it was a phenomenal stay.

Every morning you can go to see the Buddhist ceremony which I recommend to do at least once.

Wonderful hotel and staff rooms are great but the hotel is a bit dated.

My wife and I had a great stay at Hotel Alza Kyoto. The room was surprisingly spacious and very quiet, even though the hotel is close to the main areas of Kyoto.

We stayed here for our 4 nights in Kyoto on our three week tour of Japan.

Where to begin, they're part of the Banyan group so you expect a level of service and luxury and Dhawa Yura did not disappoint.
A beatutiful hotel and space in general.

Highly recommend staying at this hotel if you want a higher end experience. The rooms were very generously sized for Japan travel and the amenities were top-notch!
