What a wonderful stay and experience. I've stayed in Kyoto many times, but this was the first time we decided to stay at Watazen Ryokan for a different experience from a typical hotel.

This property was wonderful and enabled me to be relaxed during my stay. Solo travel or in a group. The facility is very well located.

Small, Intimate, and Cozy Hotel Stay!
We have made an excellent choice in staying here. Booked at the last minute late November 2025 (due to a failed no-show from a ryokan booking).

Small hotel on a quiet street about 600m from the subway. Great water pressure, comfortable beds and just large enough for 2 people and a few suitcases. Kitchen with fridge, microwave and cook top.

We stayed here for our 4 nights in Kyoto on our three week tour of Japan.

Where to begin, they're part of the Banyan group so you expect a level of service and luxury and Dhawa Yura did not disappoint.
A beatutiful hotel and space in general.

The rooms are great fabulous size for Japan. Has a shower and bath in a room with hanging space for your washing as there is a washer dryer.

For a 3 Star hotel, this place definitely exceeded our expectations! The amenities are all well stocked. The room is spacious with 4 super single beds.

My husband and I had a great stay at Mitsui Garden in Kyoto. It is located right near the shopping streets, which made everything very convenient.

This Onsen hot spring hotel is great. The rooms are compact, but feels spacious.

We stayed at Onyado Nono Kyoto with our children and had a really wonderful experience.

Location fine, short walk to stations, bus stops, Nishiki market. Restaurants and konbinis all around everywhere. Super clean, modern, warm, comfortable bed, doona, pillow. Quiet.

We found this area of Kyoto very walkable, there are so many great coffee and cafe places nearby, and also the shopping street is within 10 minutes.

Spacious light rooms in a great location, easy flat walk to markets and Gion area. Easy 30 min walk from main train station.

We loved staying at Kabin Taka. Room was bigger than expected, staff were friendly and the location was excellent and handy being able to do laundry on site.

When in Kyoto, staying at Dusit Thani would be a great choice that would not disappoint you. This concept hotel is a chic, luxurious delight for travelers looking something extra in a hotel.

​My friend was craving Thai food, and we were so glad to find this all-day dining spot. A huge plus is that their last order is at 21:30, which is perfect for a late dinner.

Wonderful hotel and staff rooms are great but the hotel is a bit dated.

My wife and I had a great stay at Hotel Alza Kyoto. The room was surprisingly spacious and very quiet, even though the hotel is close to the main areas of Kyoto.

It was a amazing experience to stay in Ryokan shimizu. Loved how quietly it was and the private bath was amazing. Had the chance to try calligraphy, I think I did well 😅.

What a wonderful place, we stayed here 2 nights.
Breakfast was included, we had a traditional breakfast.
The family that runs the ryokan is absolutely lovely.

I went on an exchange student trip, and my Sensei booked our rooms at this hotel. It was great! Service was great, every night we came back, our room was cleaned.

We spent one night at this Ryokan and our experience couldn't have been better. The room is extremely comfortable, the ofuro is made of wood and provides a truly sensational experience.

I stayed at the Tassel hotel 6 nights in September 2025.
I really liked the hotel: it’s comfortable, clean, nice and modern, with a great location to visit Kyoto and helpful staff.

Nestled in the historic Higashiyama district, DoubleTree by Hilton Kyoto Higashiyama offers a perfect blend of modern comfort and traditional Kyoto charm.

Great hotel at affordable rates. Maybe 20 mins walking distance to Gion and 1 min to Kyoto subway, 10 mins taxi from Kyoto station. Rooms were well appointed and immaculate.

This was the perfect place to serve as a base for our holiday in Kyoto.

Cheapest price weve paid out of 3 bookings weve made and it was the best one. Close to the bus stop, everythings withing walking distance. Staff were very helpful and friendly.

Amazing Ryokan in Gion. Walking distance to the big tourist spots in the area, as well as restaurants closer to the river. Backs up to a beautiful park as well.

Upon arrival, the check in staff were very helpful and informative. She explained everything we needed for our visit.

My wife and I stayed two nights at Six Senses from Feb. 16 until the 18th, 2026. It was our 15th anniversary and the hotel staff provided two really nice hand written anniversary cards.

A gem in kyoto, perfect location in all climates (you will be grateful for the porte-cochère)
From the moment the wafts of incense meet you on arrival, it is a cocoon of beauty, serenity and peace —

The room is fairly large and comes with a kitchen and washer. The shower room can also be used to dry your laundry. I used the luggage transfer service, and it went flawlessly.

We loved staying at Ben’s guesthouse. It was the perfect spot for our family of 4 while we visited Kyoto. Ben and his staff were very friendly and helpful.

The hotel is in an excellent location with 2 train stations and plenty of shops and restaurants close by.

This is my second time staying here. The beds are comfortable, the rooms fairly large and the place is beautifully clean. The rooms are cleaned religiously every three days — no exceptions.

Had a nice stay at this hotel. Room was beautiful with moody lightning and decoration. Bed was pretty comfortable.

Hotel has a nice entrance and reception is reached via a lift to the 2nd floor. Check in staff are friendly and helpful.

Much cleaner than other 3 star hotel. My skin is not allergic to the bed sheets at all!

Stayed here for three nights in early February 2026. The hotel is central and the closest train station was a 5 minute walk away.

This place is flawless. Easily the best hotel of my Japan trip. Great location, a few minutes walk from town centre, Nishiki Market, main shopping streets and easily walkable to Gion etc.

ASAI Kyoto Shijo is in a fantastic location and a great choice for exploring Kyoto. We stayed for three nights in October and would happily return anytime.
