Perfect location 25/20mn walking from downtown and numbers of sights. Very kind and helpful staff. Good atmosphere in the shared space.

If you want the Japanese-type room experience, book here. Caution for those with lots of bags or huge luggages, they don't have an elevator, so you'll have to carry it yourself.

The inn is in the Gion preservation district full of antique shops and small restaurants. The building is a traditional Kyo-machida and the owner, Kazuhiko says it’s been an inn for 50 years.

This is a very traditional Japanese house turn in to inn.
Owner is very nice, as soon we arrive he seat us down and explains all the attraction and ways to get there easily.

We had a great stay at this hotel. We lived there for a week. I decided to put review because many negative ones. It was tidy and very cozy.

Beautiful hotel in the perfect location, offering a true traditional Japanese experience. The rooms are spacious and comfortable, and having a washing machine available is a huge bonus for travellers.

I just moved from a 4 star to this 3 star and the beds are bigger, comfier and the room is more spacious. Self check in was simple, Wi-Fi works and AC too.

Just enjoyed our 5D4N at Kyoto & we stayed at Hiz Hotel Gion Shirakawa as our base. Very charming apartment hotel.

It was an interesting experience. For reference I’ve only stayed at one capsule hotel before.

Minus one star because this hotel has only one shower for everyone. The shower is on the first floor very far away from everything, and with only a flimsy screen door that makes it feel very unsafe.

I felt at home and relaxed with lots of care. The house is in a perfect location for sightseeing in Kyoto, the rooms are beautiful, cozy, spacious and very clean.

If you want to try the traditional Japanese style, you should give this place a try. We really recommend this place. We love our stay here. Also don't forget to try their porridge for breakfast.

If you want to experience an old Ryokan, this is the best place for you. Love how it feels homy.

Spacious room, clean, near to public transportation, near to mall, near to restaurant.
Stair too narrow. Have to be really careful climbing the stairs. Good luck to those carrying huge heavy luggage.
