Kyoto Hotels near Old Rissei Elementary School

If you want to experience traditional Japanese room and service then book this hotel. But I recommend staying for just 1 night. I feel like the room needs some cleaning and updating.

The location, staff, atmosphere, experiences were all exceptional.
We had a sukiyaki dinner in our room one night. It was delicious and unforgettable.

I just moved from a 4 star to this 3 star and the beds are bigger, comfier and the room is more spacious. Self check in was simple, Wi-Fi works and AC too.

Just enjoyed our 5D4N at Kyoto & we stayed at Hiz Hotel Gion Shirakawa as our base. Very charming apartment hotel.

This hotel was located a 20 minute walk from the main Kyoto station…. Temples and viewing tower. Approximately 10 minutes to the main town — Gion region and old town (beautiful).

Room was comfortable, clean and inviting. The view of the skyline was enjoyable. Walkable everywhere we wanted to go and very close to the local train station.

The good: very friendly staff, options to have more pillows, an iron, electricity plug converters, etc. Great coffee and nice toiletry selection. Modern-looking and comfortable rooms.

Smooth, nothing much to comment. Agoda stated guests would be charged at check-in for the city tax.

This is the first time I've stayed here, we got the suite, the room is so clean and so much newer than the photos on the website.

On arrival our host was fabulous. It’s in a great location on the canal. Walking in I was so happy with large for Japan layout & immediate feeling. Awesome to have washing machine & kitchenette.

This is the most stylish apartment I have stayed in during numerous trips to Japan and Kyoto. Our room (101) was perfect. It’s on the ground floor and has a terrace overlooking the river.

We had an amazing 3 days staying at Hotori. Yuri and Sanyuri were extremely helpful with their support and communication.

Best experience ever, the mutu family were super friendly and welcoming, they are very nice people really, the house is so adorable and sleeping on floor was best sleep I had.

I’m so grateful for all the lovely amenities. The rooms were so cool! I’d love to stay here longer. Water pressure was crazy high (a good thing), and sitting shower setup was so relaxing.

We really enjoyed our stay, the rooms were very spacious and they gave us a river view upon request. Service was fantastic, great English speaking staff members. Location was perfect in the Gion area.

One of the most memorable places in the time I was living in Japan, just because it is raw traditional and hidden gem, doing this review just to find it later when I go back.

My friend and I were wandering around Sannenzaka when we stumbed upon this place. There was a sign for Obanzai and the entrance tunnel kind of reminds me of the one Chihiro walked through.

Hands down the best place I've slept in Japan. Value for the money is extremely good. It is clean and has everything a guest needs. Highly recommend.

The exact ryokan experience we were hoping to get in Kyoto. Beautiful, traditional building and rooms, absolutely incredible Japanese breakfast each morning, and comfortable futons.

I stayed in the single room at Inn Kawashima for 7 nights. It’s a quiet place to rest and recharge after going out for the day.

Only thing to note is that the keys need to be picked up from reception near Kyoto station.

Before coming to Japan, we thought the room here would be very small based on the photos.

Super cute hotel! I loved the designs of everything. I thought the room was going to be dark all day, but there is a huge window that allows lots of natural light in the morning.

Very well managed hotel with gorgeous views from the rooftop bar and complimentary coffee and ice cream at their reception desk.

Staying at this hotel in Kyoto felt like a perfect harmony of tradition and modern elegance.

This a really great option for travelers looking to stay in a ryokan without spending too much money! The location is good, in walking distance of Shijo Dori, Gion Corner, and the Kiyomizu Dera.

Perfectly located next to Gion and just a 5-minute walk from the bridge to the city center. Convenient access to Kyoto’s main temples and attractions, either on foot or by a short bus/metro ride.

The place is lovely and new, good area, and the staff are lovely. Beds are on the firm side, but very comfortable and with good quality linen. Very happy with our choice.

Great spot to stay just north of Gion. Super close to the subway lines. Check in was simple and the shuttle was a nice perk. The room was good size and well stocked.

This is a beautiful old style hotel in the heart of the old touristy area of Kyoto. The place was huge by Japan standards. Two big bedroom and a large common living area for TV and eating.
