Kyoto Hotels near Old Rissei Elementary School

I stayed here for one night and I regret not staying longer.
The style of the place makes you feel the real Japanese experience, the bed is so comfortable. Location is great.

I stayed here almost 11 years ago and I plan on returning this year. I stayed in Japan for 6 weeks and this was my favourite place to stay.

We loved our stay here, the rooms were lovely and spacious compared to the places we stayed at in Tokyo and Osaka. It was quiet and within walking distance to nearby locations.

The hotel is in an excellent location in Kyoto. The room was very good and well sized. It was barely a 10 minute walk from many locations nearby. Most of all — The staff were great.

Excellent Ryokan at an amazing location. The staff were very helpful and eager to assist. The room was traditional tatami mat. Excellent place to enjoy the traditional Japanese experience.

I had a wonderful stay at the hotel. The staff was exceptionally friendly and attentive from the moment I checked in. My room was spotlessly clean.

I just moved from a 4 star to this 3 star and the beds are bigger, comfier and the room is more spacious. Self check in was simple, Wi-Fi works and AC too.

Just enjoyed our 5D4N at Kyoto & we stayed at Hiz Hotel Gion Shirakawa as our base. Very charming apartment hotel.

Room condition was greatly good, very spacious and clean. Kitchen cutlets were nice and washing machine was perfect. Twin beds were little bit hard, but it's good.

Shogetsu is an excellent kaiseki restaurant. The host, Ayano san, helps foreigners new to kaiseki feel very welcomed with her warm and approachable hospitality.

A lovely family run establishment. The service is lovely, the ladies are so nice and knowledgeable. The food is great, it is a unique Japanese meal. Loved it!

On arrival our host was fabulous. It’s in a great location on the canal. Walking in I was so happy with large for Japan layout & immediate feeling. Awesome to have washing machine & kitchenette.

This is the most stylish apartment I have stayed in during numerous trips to Japan and Kyoto. Our room (101) was perfect. It’s on the ground floor and has a terrace overlooking the river.

Location to the river and restaurants and bars. Staff were very helpful and diligent in their tasks. Breakfast was amazing, it catered for all people’s tastes and was very healthy food.

The room was so big, especially for Japan! The location was great as well and the staff were super nice and helpful.
They also had a laundry machine and a dryer in the room which was niiice.

Easy to check in, elevator is small so if you have lots of bags you may have to make a few trips. Room is very spacious, on top floor so we get a bit of a view of the temples. Would stay again.

Our family enjoyed the Japanese experience. The host was charming, eccentric and always helpful.
The sleeping room is large and comfortable. The garden is peaceful and the breakfast just right.

A traditional house in the heart of Kyoto, very close to many points of interest including the Gion district and the very famous Kyomizu-dera.

For the value, I would still stay here again now that I know how to handle the room/hotel issues.

The location is great as it’s in the heart of the traditional Kyoto, the Gion.

Wow! No words. This place is sensational. Top luxury amenities with a small ryokan personal feel. Centrally located walkable to important sites. Will stay here again!

I happened to randomly find this hotel while searching for areas to stay for our trip to Kyoto, and I’m so incredibly happy I did.

The stay was nice. Showers were clean and there was free coffee. The traditional beds were oke for a couple of days, but not for a week. I was looking forward to a place with curtains and a good bed.

We stayed for 6 nights and loved it. Very helpful, friendly staff, great location and well equipped kitchen with free coffee you can make in individual drip. Amazing hot water for showers.

Everything was lovely, especially the bathroom. The staff members helped us a lot with reservations and local communication.

We wish we stayed longer wow! The rooms were big and modern. So clean and very well equipped with everything we needed. The bathroom gorgeous and the sitting area was great.

Quiet and centrally located. I was nervous because there were so few reviews and one mentioned a bug problem but it ended up being for nothing. The room was large and clean.

I was supposed to stay in another place that was terrible so I found Ryokan hostel last minute and it was FANTASTIC!

The location was right off of busy area of Gion, super convenient yet quiet. The rooms are sooo spacious with the biggest and comfiest bed!

Art Mon Zen Kyoto is as close to perfection as any hotel I’ve ever experienced.

Absolutely wonderful! We stayed here a few nights with our two young children and it was perfect. Incredible location, with nearby sites, restaurants, shops and accessibility.

A wonderful home that’s close to shrines and temples in Kyoto. We loved our stay here and would definitely return! Claire was a fantastic host as well.

We have a lovely time staying in Kamuroan. Even though we weren't the best house guests (coming home almost exactly at the curfew, leaving very early, being forgetful and clumsy). Ookini Okami-san!

The guesthouse is in a perfect location – quiet, yet very central. It’s exceptionally clean and perfectly equipped.

Absolutely amazing, centrally located and affordable. Li, the owner, goes put of his way to make you feel at home. Lots of toiletries to use and laundry service.
