The service here is really great, the front desk staff and all are friendly, polite and helpful, beyond the 3 star designation that it has (I think that's to do with the facilities, but I digress).

Totally loved it! We stayed here for a few nights. We had to do the bedding but it was worth experiencing the traditional Japanese room space.

Great place, very tasty coffee filter! A simple and hearty breakfast. I tried the banana bread — it was tender, fresh, and perfect! I will definitely choose this place for breakfast again!

We came to Len for breakfast every morning during our four day visit to Kyoto, as it was a very convenient few block walk from our hotel, and there was always a table available.

Our stay at Tazuru was great! In particular, Reiko Yoshimura and Yumiko Inoue (as well as a gentleman colleague of theirs) were highly professional and attended to our queries comprehensively.

Everything was great and we really enjoyed our stay at this traditional ryokan hotel. Check-in was easy and we were able to check in a little earlier without issues.

Well situated: near the famous market, great restaurants in the area and not far to a metro station to get to the shrines and temples on the eastern side of Kyoto.

The hotel was a great choice for my five-day stay. It had everything I needed and is very well located in Gion, which made exploring the area easy and enjoyable.

This is a very small hotel located at the edge of Gion, 2 km from Kyoto station. There are just less than 20 rooms, very quiet.

Jam is wonderful! I have stayed there a few times, and would absolutely go back. The owners are incredibly friendly and kind, with great English.

I had an excelent solo stay at the yuzuya ryokan. The location is awesome, right next to Yasaka Shrine. It is still quiet inside the ryokan, though.

If you want to experience traditional Japanese room and service then book this hotel. But I recommend staying for just 1 night. I feel like the room needs some cleaning and updating.

I stayed at Motonago with a friend for 4 days, and the overall experience was meh. While the location is great, the room is kind of old (and not bc it is an antique house).

We had a lovely stay at Matsui Honkan in a Japanese style room. There was plenty of space for the family (4 of us) and the Japanese breakfasts served in the room were very good.

Location is perhaps the best cause in choosing this hotel. Immediate access after exiting from station. There is also a convenience store just next to hotel.

Location is the best! Bus stops to and from Kyoto Station are just steps away. It is also walking distance to many attractions like Gion, Pontocho Alley, Kami River.

Best stay of my Japan trip! Clean room, comfortable futon bed, the BEST Japanese breakfast in the room each morning, it was a dream to be hosted at Ryokan Yoshi Ima.

This was my favorite stay in all of Japan. The room was amazing-a perfect Ryokan experience. The location is perfect to easily walk around all of Kyoto.

The location of this place is a little outside the city center but with the metro station right next door, it wasn't a problem for us.

This is an absolutely great hotel if you are visiting Kyoto as a tourist. Classic design, polite staff and a great breakfast that combines western and eastern taste.

Peaceful Family Base in the Heart of Kyoto.
The Room: We stayed with our two children (12 and 8) and found the space perfect.

Only thing to note is that the keys need to be picked up from reception near Kyoto station.

Absolutely our favorite hotel of our trip! Free washing machine. A kitchen with fridge freezer! Clean room! Great bathroom! Absolutely loved it. Well recommended. It was also an insanely good price!
