Kyoto Hotels near Old Rissei Elementary School

A gem of a hotel in Kyoto. The area is absolutely beautiful, with a shallow tiny river where we were greeted by a grey heron each day. The walk to subway and bus is short.

We loved staying here. My favourite part about this hotel was its location. Away from the hustle and bustle of Gion, but walking distance or a quick bus ride to the main streets.

Good location and within walking distance to downtown Kyoto (around 2-15 minutes), yet maintain the suburb feel, quiet at night.

I loved this hotel. The staff were very kind and provided my family and me with all the support we needed. The rooms were clean, and they offered both hot and cold drinks as complimentary services.

It was an interesting experience. For reference I’ve only stayed at one capsule hotel before.

The facility is so clean, well maintained, friendly staffs, the breakfast is very good, unlimited rice and toppings are plus points.

The room was comfortable, clean and spacious.
Perfect location, close to the bus stop and to Pontocho, Gion and in general the nightlife of the city.

Really enjoyed my stay at Waka Kyoto Kawaramachi. We stayed for 4 nights in a twin room. The room was clean, quiet, and the air conditioning worked well.

Location to the river and restaurants and bars. Staff were very helpful and diligent in their tasks. Breakfast was amazing, it catered for all people’s tastes and was very healthy food.

What a pleasant stay! Nice rooms, all well managed. Breakfast could be better, I mean they are ok, but could be more rich. Otherwise, I definitely would stay again.

Service was just brilliant. I was worried about not having 24hr front desk but it didn't matter one bit for our week of staying.

Really enjoyed our stay at the Rinn Kitagomon, it was in a quieter part of Kyoto but a short walk to a Main Street and walking distance to other parts of Kyoto. The staff were kind and helpful.

Fantastic location if you are looking to stay in the Gion area. Rooms are surprisingly spacious for a Japanese hotel and it has good amenities including a laundromat.

My family of three had a wonderful stay at Laon Inn Gion Nawate. Despite being located in the bustling Shijo district of Kyoto, the hotel room offered excellent soundproofing.

We had a very lovely time at INA house gion. We really got to feel the real Kyoto vibes, bonus points the room was the biggest that we stayed in during our stay in Japan.

I'll definitely book a room with them again. Room is very clean.
I like the fact thag they're not using any deodorizer to hide/mask the smell.

But it was a lot more than we expected! Staff was nice and helpful.
They offered us complementary eco-friendly water bottles to refill at the drink station at any time.

This is an Amazing Hotel with an Amazing staff And service. Ils difficult to describe the ultimate level of services provided. This is the best place I stay so far.

The good: very friendly staff, options to have more pillows, an iron, electricity plug converters, etc. Great coffee and nice toiletry selection. Modern-looking and comfortable rooms.

This funky hotel had a lot of charm and some good amenities. The lobby felt like an elevated hostel where lots of people were hanging out with coffee/tea always available.

Super cute hotel! I loved the designs of everything. I thought the room was going to be dark all day, but there is a huge window that allows lots of natural light in the morning.

We stayed for two nights. Very convenient location-close to everything but there was not enough water given. The apartment is big but somehow there was no closet/space for cloths.

Great hotel stayed in October of 2025 was a gorgeous room with a large bath, fancy bath to be honest, was a great single night stay.

Very nice hotel, good value for money and great staff. Location is top notch! Right by the river, 20 walking minutes to the train station and 15-20 minutes to Old Town.

I have nothing but praise for this hotel. My friend got very sick right before we had to leave.

This is a small hotel, without any cafe/restaurant or bar. What they do have are comfortable large rooms, with fantastic bathrooms. Friendly staff. A well functioning laudry facility.

The double twin is really 2 double beds. This room is amazing. The shower is a separate room and is heating like a steam room. The toilet is unlike anything I have seen.

We stayed at the Yoin Hotel Kyoto Gion four nights during our 10 days in Japan for autumn colors. The hotel is ideally located in the middle of the Gion.

Went here for lunch. Found this little gem by coincidence. Friendly staff, good food (had the 4 dishes meal with beef), and a true japanese experience with private rooms and seeted on the floor.

One of the most memorable places in the time I was living in Japan, just because it is raw traditional and hidden gem, doing this review just to find it later when I go back.

This hotel was located a 20 minute walk from the main Kyoto station…. Temples and viewing tower. Approximately 10 minutes to the main town — Gion region and old town (beautiful).

Room was comfortable, clean and inviting. The view of the skyline was enjoyable. Walkable everywhere we wanted to go and very close to the local train station.

We had an amazing 3 days staying at Hotori. Yuri and Sanyuri were extremely helpful with their support and communication.

We loved Villa Hotori! It was a highlight of our trip to Japan! The house is so beautiful and relaxing, and staying at Hotori was an incredible experience.
