They’re so nice and the room was quiet, cozy, and comfortable. The onsen on the 2nd floor is small but tattoos are okay. Traditional breakfast in a private room was perfect.

We had such a wonderful experience at Kagihei. We wish we stayed longer. What a lovely surprise to find such peace and tranquility so close to the busy Nishiki market.

I stayed here for almost a week and I really enjoyed my stay. It’s a family run ryokan and the family is very hospitable and friendly. They made me feel very welcome.

Coming back to Gion Sano feels like coming home, they have four big friendly dogs which slowly walk around in the day and are very calm.

Loved that I stayed here! From checkin to checkout… everything was smooth. Welcomed with tea and a hot towel and someone personally escorted me to my room and explained everything.

The service here was wonderful, the food was great, the location is phenomenal. The traditional room & yuzu bath were a nice respite after a long day of exploring Kyoto.

Totally loved it! We stayed here for a few nights. We had to do the bedding but it was worth experiencing the traditional Japanese room space.

Lovely hotel! However while service was generally acceptable in the beginning. We booked a room for five people including two children.

This was great! The location was right by everything we wanted to do in Kyoto, but being just over the river it was a very welcome relief to come home to a quiet neighborhood.

Great service, food amazing. The sukiyaki we got the second night was so good! The building is quite aged but they do their best with top notch hospitality, food and service.

My family and I had a great time. Perfect location. Staff are attentive and gracious. The meals were delicious. I used the bath house every day while here and was always the only person there.

I wanna say thank you to staffs in 東山莊. They’re very kind, hospitable, and thoughtful. The location is also good, very close to 二年板、清水寺，so you can take pictures here earlier than others!

I was at the restaurant here, was really good. Cant judge the Hotel itself, but the staff semmed great, attentive and super nice.

If you don’t mind something a little more quaint, it’s very cozy and the price is unbeatable especially for the location which is outstanding.

We stayed for 3 nights in a traditional tatami room and absolutely loved the experience we shared. The staff are extremely respectful, the amenities offered were above and beyond.

We selected the breakfast and dinner option, Japanese style and it was so fun and interesting to try all the different food.

Yuko was very helpful and spoke great English. So getting settled in was a breeze. Also very helpful giving directions and a quick run down of everything the neighborhood had to offer.

Yuko-san was kind, knowledgeable and made herself very available for questions. Very friendly and perfect English.

Haven't been in hostels in a while as there not as common in japan as in other country traveled in.
Dormitory was great big bed usb plug and lights curtains on the bed side.

Confortable (and big) beds and nice shared spaces that are well kept. Bus and train station are 5 minutes away. Although one toilet for so many people might not be ideal.

Lovely place with charming old ladies running it. Their English is not great but somehow you manage to understand them. Curfew at 23:00 and closed until 07:00.

A lovely Royokan just off the main strip in Kyoto, super close to nishiki market. The lady that runs it is super nice and helpful.

This ryokan is superb. They were very welcoming for American tourists. We stayed a full week, which is unusual for them. But we wanted to explore the Kyoto area. The meals were fantastic.

We spent a week at yululu and it has a very comforting atmosphere. Very clean and a very convenient location too with good rooms.
