Tommy-san was very accommodating and always checked in to make sure everything is alright. Wish I could have stayed a few more nights but I’ll save that for another time.

Really great place staff will accommodate your needs and are happy to chat. Rooms are good, showers are very warm cant really complain at all. Tv and computers in lobby aswell!

Amazing stay, great service from the staff, and good price value. Even if it is a bit far from the historical center, it is still just a 20 min ride by bus.

Shizuya is a beautiful hotel, I loved the cosy atmosphere starting from the lobby.

I found this kind of accommodation rather often in Japan recently.
Compact and it reminds me of rubik cube somehow.  
The wall is very thin and it is not soundproof.

As a tourist I had no expectations for the room. The hotel was easy to find and just a couple of minutes away from the bus stop.

A perfect position very close to the sandbar & only 150m from the Bus / Train. Comfortable rooms waterfront. We ate at the restaurant which was very nice.

An absolutely wonderful place to stay in Amanohashidate! The staff were incredibly welcoming and helpful.

We loved the stay, very 🏠 with authentic Japanese sense, it's a great experience. Besides, very convenient too, with kitchen, laundry and board games available, wonderful for family trip.

Great experience. Strategic location, near the station and various restaurants. Excellent service. Very cozy common room. They let you stay longer until 12 p. M. You can lent a bicycle as well.

Stayed Oct 2024. A cute guesthouse with traditional tatami/futon setup. The house is only 2 rooms with a common area and kitchen.

I stayed here almost a week and it felt really homely. There are only two rooms, I had room B. At the entrance of my room there was a fish tank and 2 tanuki statues to greet me when I got back "home".

I have been studying abroad in Japan for a little over 3 months, and stayed at Stay Sakura for around 50-60 days over the course of these past 3 months.

Room was reasonably sized for two people, clean, and comfortable. Hotel is in a quiet residential area, but also very conveniently located near a bus stop and a train station. Staff were friendly.

Honestly this was a gem of a find. It is on the bus route (less than a 2 minute walk) or by the subway station (3-4 minute walk maybe).

We stayed here for 3 nights and had a lovely experience. Traditional old style Japanese home. Tani and her daughter are wonderful hosts.

I stayed at Tani House 26 years previously when backpacking and was very pleased to find it unchanged and as I remembered it when my family (kids aged 12 and 14) spent 3 nights here in September 2025.

Stay at this hundreds of years old house if you are in Kyoto. The Property Manager is one of the kindest people you'll meet in Japan.

We spent a week at yululu and it has a very comforting atmosphere. Very clean and a very convenient location too with good rooms.

This place is just incredible. Amazing, clean, and perfectly decorated and functional space that feels like home. Common area is perfect. Yes, I said perfect.

Very clean and cozy Hostel. Its not far from Gjon but still very quiet. Would definitly recomend for everyone. The price is very fair for what you get. It was a very lovely stay❤️🍀

This place was great for a solo traveller! The room was great and a welcomed refuge after a long day of travel/sightseeing. The bed was comfortable, room was compact but doable. Bathroom was good.

The hotel was pretty decent, in my opinion. The room for one person wasn’t too cramped either.

If you want to try the traditional Japanese style, you should give this place a try. We really recommend this place. We love our stay here. Also don't forget to try their porridge for breakfast.

If you want to experience an old Ryokan, this is the best place for you. Love how it feels homy.

A relatively inexpensive, basic, yet very comfortable, and well-located hostel for a short trip to Kyoto. Open 24/7, you can arrive late at night, as they leave your capsule key at the reception desk.

I'm still here.
Perks are that there is quite a peaceful dorm share with a light blocking curtain. Makes a huge difference.

The inn is in the Gion preservation district full of antique shops and small restaurants. The building is a traditional Kyo-machida and the owner, Kazuhiko says it’s been an inn for 50 years.

This is a very traditional Japanese house turn in to inn.
Owner is very nice, as soon we arrive he seat us down and explains all the attraction and ways to get there easily.

Spacious room, clean, near to public transportation, near to mall, near to restaurant.
Stair too narrow. Have to be really careful climbing the stairs. Good luck to those carrying huge heavy luggage.

I was completely satisfied with my stay at this accommodation!
The bed was very comfortable and clean, as was the bathroom.
