Kyoto Hotels

I don’t normally write reviews. However I had to — for this fabulous hotel. I simply cannot fathom the bad reviews. I booked, was then apprehensive when I read some negative reviews.

The highlight of 2.5 weeks in Japan. From start to finish, very welcoming staff. Room 209 was spacious and just modern enough. Highlight was the bathroom with shower and soaking tub.

We had a lovely stay at this hotel. The rooms were nice, spacious. The staff were very friendly and helpful.

This was the third country, after the United States and China, where I have stayed at a property under the Discovery alliance, and my very first time in Japan.

We had a wonderful stay here and couldn’t recommend it more. The staff were truly exceptional — so kind, attentive, and thoughtful throughout our visit.

The hotel gives a very authentic and rooted Japanese experience while being luxurious. The service and attention to detail is immaculate.

We arrived in Kyoto from Tokyo on board the Shinkansen for one-night, from 01Dec to 02 Dec2025.

This is a wonderful gem of a place nestled in a quiet alley in the Gion area. The rooms were clean and tastefully done. An authentic experience. Will definitely return if I ever return to Kyoto.

Overall, it was a very good experience. The room was spotless, the bathroom spacious, and the multilingual staff were warm and helpful. The river view from our room added a special touch to our stay.

A truly excellent stay! The hotel was very clean and the personnel were incredibly friendly and helpful. Loved the good breakfast and the fantastic complementary evening bar with snacks and drinks.

Had a great stay at Tsukimi. Was originally supposed to stay 4 nights, ended up staying a week. I got lucky too because it was slow, so the room was pretty empty which always helps.

I can’t begin to explain how much I love this place. Very socialising hotspot which amazing staff who will cater to every one of your needs.

I just moved from a 4 star to this 3 star and the beds are bigger, comfier and the room is more spacious. Self check in was simple, Wi-Fi works and AC too.

Just enjoyed our 5D4N at Kyoto & we stayed at Hiz Hotel Gion Shirakawa as our base. Very charming apartment hotel.

This hotel was a highlight of our Kyoto trip. The staff were genuinely kind and always happy to help, the rooms were beautiful and very comfortable, and the location was ideal for getting around.

We loved our stay here! Our room was the one with the bathtub, it’s totally worth it. The toilet was really cool too!

Totally worth it. Spacious room for a budget-friendly hotel in Japan, beautiful neighborhood, friendly and helpful staff. Bus stop is less than 5 minutes away.

Nice hotel. Own spacy shower room. Has everything you need. Some towels seems dirty, but you can easily get new ones. Nice room size.

The location was still a close walk to the train station, but the neighborhood was pretty quiet at night. This did suit a ryokan as we were relaxing in the onsen.

The hot public bath was clean and impeccably kept. The rooms were tastefully decorated and placed together.

The stay was nice. Showers were clean and there was free coffee. The traditional beds were oke for a couple of days, but not for a week. I was looking forward to a place with curtains and a good bed.

We stayed for 6 nights and loved it. Very helpful, friendly staff, great location and well equipped kitchen with free coffee you can make in individual drip. Amazing hot water for showers.

The room is very nice because have the tatami bed and that I like the most is the service and the location is very good because the hotel give us manga to read and the place near fresco the

Lovely property, very helpful and polite staff. Location wise very quiet, a bit of a walk to attractions but very pretty area and decent restaurants close.

I loved this hostel. The beds have curtains, it's decently close to the subway, and best of all the (free! ) breakfast is amazing. Lots of variety and the miso soup is delicious.

Such an amazing stay at this hostel! the kindness of the staff is unlike anywhere from the warm greetings and goodbyes to the breakfast served daily — it all makes me feel so at ease and at home!

An amazing hotel with super kind and helpful staff! Our room was perfect and very spacious. The room itself is beautiful and elegant and really made our trip to Kyoto so much more enjoyable!

The best place we stayed in Japan. So zen and so relaxing. The service was top notch and people were so friendly. 15 min walk to Kyoto station (main station for high speed rail).

This is a wonderful hotel. The location is fantastic with Kyoto station a short walk and local buses stopping not far from the hotel.

Stayed in Jan 2026. The staff were very welcoming and helpful. The room was nice and beds were very comfortable.

Rooms are not the biggest but perfect for the 2 of us for 3 nights. Great location, very clean with with everything amenities required for a very comfortable stay. Highly recommend this hotel.

If you just want somewhere smart and clean to sleep, shower and store your little suitcase this place is great. Location excellent: near the sights but only on a moderately busy road. Size: small.

We stayed at this hotel for seven days in early November. The hotel is truly excellent.

We really enjoyed our stay here and will definitely be back if we are visiting Kyoto again! We had such a comfortable stay there that we allocated time to enjoy the facilities and services provided.

Great stay at Fairfield by Marriott in Amanohashidate. The hotel is clean, quiet, and well-maintained, just like other reliable Fairfield properties across Japan.

ASAI Kyoto Shijo is in a fantastic location and a great choice for exploring Kyoto. We stayed for three nights in October and would happily return anytime.

My stay at the Granvia was beautiful. The rooms, beds, pillows were so comfortable I didn't want to leave the room. Thankfully the beauty of Kyoto dragged me out!
