We went a few days ago with my partner, we stayed 4 nights since we wanted to live the experience of a typical house and it was beautiful!

The good: very friendly staff, options to have more pillows, an iron, electricity plug converters, etc. Great coffee and nice toiletry selection. Modern-looking and comfortable rooms.

This hotel was located a 20 minute walk from the main Kyoto station…. Temples and viewing tower. Approximately 10 minutes to the main town — Gion region and old town (beautiful).

Room was comfortable, clean and inviting. The view of the skyline was enjoyable. Walkable everywhere we wanted to go and very close to the local train station.

Stayed in this hotel for three nights. Location is good. Railway station, bus stand at walking distance. Shops like lawsons nearby. Shopping malls, shops, eating places at walking distance.

The location of this hotel is honestly the best part – it’s right across from Kyoto Station, so getting around is super easy with buses, metro, and JR lines. Staff were really friendly and helpful.

If you like to avoid the touristic Gion and stay in a more genuine Japanese home this is perfect. The couple that owns this small inn is very nice and helpful.

Fantastic little guesthouse with amazing owners. Made us a fantastic breakfast each morning and even dropped us to the station to catch our train.

They’re so nice and the room was quiet, cozy, and comfortable. The onsen on the 2nd floor is small but tattoos are okay. Traditional breakfast in a private room was perfect.

We had such a wonderful experience at Kagihei. We wish we stayed longer. What a lovely surprise to find such peace and tranquility so close to the busy Nishiki market.

Nice traditional ryokan in a prime Arashiyama spot, steps from the Luxury Collection hotel. The property is somewhat dated, but rooms are clean and comfortable, and all facilities are fully equipped.

There were mixed reviews, I am very satisfied with their amenities, foods (got half boarding), service, quietness, old but clean. It wasn't expensive either and even guests were courteous.

We had a twin room which was spacious yet the bathroom was let's say usable. The shower was good. Breakfast for a westerner is limited.

Great hotel in a fantastic location. Only one block from the Kyoto train station. Beds are nice. The room is a decent size, especially for Japan.

It's a two storey Ryokan. If you arrive with luggage, you may need to carry them up to your room on 2/F. No escalator. Room was ok, overlooking the river. Same for the open air bath.

Went there May 2025. On the return trip from Miyama to Kyoto, we dropped by here for lunch. The surrounding place was peaceful.

Clean, quiet, stylish in the center of Gion and everything is within walking distance. The staff was very helpful and respond via the chat almost instantly.

We stayed here for one night and absolutely loved the experience. The ryokan is beautiful, cozy, and full of history. The hosts were incredibly kind.

Location is excellent. 5-10 mins walk to a local supermarket. 5 mins walk to subway or bus station. Room is clean breakfast is simple but practical. Prefect for business travellers. Reasonable rate.

Review for Kawajikaso (河鹿莊), Miyama.
We had a wonderful stay at Kawajikaso in Miyama! The traditional ryokan atmosphere made us feel so relaxed, and the hospitality was warm and welcoming.

Very good dinner and breakfast.
The room is huge. But there is a smell from the toilet maybe?
Also a bit of dust in the room.
There is elevator so no problem for the luggage.

We had a wonderful experience staying at Mizuya for one night and want to go back someday!

One of the most beautifully designed hotels we have been to. Simple yet so cosy and comforting. We booked the room with sauna inside. Yes, an in-room sauna.

Beautifully renovated tea shop with tiny but comfortable and well equipped traditional Japanese-style rooms. Walls are thin, sound carries quite a bit.
Staff is very friendly and helpful.

This is my first time sleeping on a futon bed, and tatami room. The building is traditional and authentic and very beautiful. I was impressed by the cleanliness. The host was very kind and friendly.

We LOVED our stay at Sumiya Kihoan. My boyfriend and I visited along with our friends who are also a couple and we all had a wonderful experience.

Our stay at Sumiya was the highlight of our trip. We were looking so forward to the private onsen in our room.

The photos do not mislead! This guesthouse is very special: The owner, Yuki, and her daughter and staff were so kind, generous and patient.

The hotel is less than a 10-minute walk from Kyoto Station, which is very convenient. The single room is spacious enough to open two 28-inch suitcases at the same time. The place is extremely clean.

The room is not so small but not very sound proof. You can hear people in other rooms talk.
There's public bathroom with an onsen. I took a bath at 8PM but there was noone.

Our family of 4 had such a wonderful stay in Kyoto. We booked 2 rooms, and they were absolutely beautiful and very comfortable.

The hotel is surrounded by plenty of greenery and is located almost directly opposite a national museum.
