The double twin is really 2 double beds. This room is amazing. The shower is a separate room and is heating like a steam room. The toilet is unlike anything I have seen.

We stayed at the Yoin Hotel Kyoto Gion four nights during our 10 days in Japan for autumn colors. The hotel is ideally located in the middle of the Gion.

Would book again, 100/10. The hotel location was walkable to many of our must visits, and, was just a few minutes from the bus stop. Shopping and food options within the area, and it stayed quiet.

We had a really nice stay at this hotel. The rooms were comfortable and well maintained, and the amenities were great. The staff was very attentive and helpful throughout our stay.

I happened to randomly find this hotel while searching for areas to stay for our trip to Kyoto, and I’m so incredibly happy I did.

This ryokan met, and even exceeded our expectations. The staff were incredibly friendly and always available to help and answer questions. The room was fantastic, and the location was perfect.

Location was very good as it was in a quiet side street although close to quite a busy tourist track to a nearby temple. The person who checked us in was very helpful.

This is by far the best hotel in Kyoto! Rooms are spacious and luxurious, all amenities are provided including breakfast served in your room and the personnel service is outstanding!

Very nice connecting rooms for a family if staying beyond 2-3 nights.

Staff were exceptional. The hotel seemed brand new and was very, very nice. The lobby tea / lounge space was amazing with a great selection of teas along with a toaster oven & a microwave.

I‘M ONLY RATING THE COFFEE SHOP.
Very cute little coffee shop and homestay. They have a lot of home made bagels that are served with cream cheese or some other toppings. The bagels are nicely chewy.

Absolutely amazing food and very kind people, would recommend visiting if in Kyoto and the ham cheese bagel plus scrambled eggs is fantastic.

Location to the river and restaurants and bars. Staff were very helpful and diligent in their tasks. Breakfast was amazing, it catered for all people’s tastes and was very healthy food.

What a pleasant stay! Nice rooms, all well managed. Breakfast could be better, I mean they are ok, but could be more rich. Otherwise, I definitely would stay again.

Very nice hotel, good value for money and great staff. Location is top notch! Right by the river, 20 walking minutes to the train station and 15-20 minutes to Old Town.

The entire hotel looks very new, clean, high tech, and well curated. The staff is very friendly and the services and amenities are really good!

Fantastic location if you are looking to stay in the Gion area. Rooms are surprisingly spacious for a Japanese hotel and it has good amenities including a laundromat.

My family of three had a wonderful stay at Laon Inn Gion Nawate. Despite being located in the bustling Shijo district of Kyoto, the hotel room offered excellent soundproofing.

Pros:
-Staff are beyond nice and very helpful!
-Zashiki Twin Room was actually massive by any hotel standards, not just Japan hotel standards.
-Room was super cute, futons were comfy.

This hotel was located a 20 minute walk from the main Kyoto station…. Temples and viewing tower. Approximately 10 minutes to the main town — Gion region and old town (beautiful).

Room was comfortable, clean and inviting. The view of the skyline was enjoyable. Walkable everywhere we wanted to go and very close to the local train station.

My second visit to this amazing family-run inn. The hosts are very friendly and helpful. The rooms have been cool in summer and cozy in winter, and always quiet.

Hands down the best place I've slept in Japan. Value for the money is extremely good. It is clean and has everything a guest needs. Highly recommend.

We are from NYC. This was our first visit to Japan. We spent all our time outside the hotel exploring and eating our way thru Kyoto, Nara & Osaka. We enjoyed 5 nights at Rinn Gion Kenninji.

This was definitely a very traditional experience my boyfriend and I loved every moment the staff were always so kind an welcoming.

We stayed at the Shinmonzen for two nights while on a trip to Japan for our honeymoon. They went above and beyond in absolutely every way.

I have been fortunate to stay at some of the top hotels in the world, and no where have I had a more meaningful stay than at the Shinmonzen.

Dimly lit room, no good lighting anywhere, average service and amenities at the place, location not the best. Does the job but I personally would spend more for somewhere more convenient.

Excellent hotel centrally located in Gion, highly walkable to top sights, restaurants, small local shops and massive shopping malls. The staff is great, friendly and efficient.

A hotel with really good size rooms in Kyoto! Enough for two large suitcases to be open on the floor. Unheard of in Japan!

Room was very chill, but mattress was very hard.
I could Hear the springs when I was breathing.
Other that that nothing to Complain.

Rooms are great and well equipped. Loved the washer/dryer system with the ventilation in the bathroom, I washed my clothes after showering at night and they were dry by the morning.

Hotel is located on a quieter somewhat residential neighborhood with little shops tucked here and there. We travelled with 2 adults and 2 teenagers.

The room was so big, especially for Japan! The location was great as well and the staff were super nice and helpful.
They also had a laundry machine and a dryer in the room which was niiice.

Easy to check in, elevator is small so if you have lots of bags you may have to make a few trips. Room is very spacious, on top floor so we get a bit of a view of the temples. Would stay again.

Great location in the heart of Gion so you can stroll at night the touristy spot nearby without the crowd (go to the shrine near the park it’s stunning at night).

Our stay at Kyoto Gion U-Bell Hotel was overall very good! The staff were extremely friendly, spoke great English, and the rooms were spacious, well-equipped, and spotlessly clean.

This is a very small hotel located at the edge of Gion, 2 km from Kyoto station. There are just less than 20 rooms, very quiet.

We were very happy with this hotel, the personale was very nice and helpful, rooms were clean and the location was perfect for us. It is within walking distance of a lot of temples and night life,

The location was right off of busy area of Gion, super convenient yet quiet. The rooms are sooo spacious with the biggest and comfiest bed!
