Very authentic Japanese experience. Had an excellent stay here, the beds were even more comfortable than a hotel's.

We stayed here for three nights during our time in Kyoto and from the very first moment, we felt completely at home. The accommodation was cozy and beautifully arranged but what truly made this stay unforgettable were the two amazing hosts which are Taka and Yuka. They are not only incredibly warm, kind, and loving people, but also remarkably thoughtful and attentive. Their hospitality was above and beyond anything we’ve ever experienced, offering help and making sure we had everything we could possibly need.
The whole atmosphere of the place was calm, welcoming, and full of heart. It was the perfect spot to rest, recharge, and feel genuinely cared for. We honestly didn’t want to leave. Out of all the places we visited during our trip, this was without a doubt the most special and meaningful.
If you’re looking for a place to stay in Kyoto that offers not just comfort but also warmth, kindness, and a truly personal touch. We will definitely be coming back.

Staying here truly felt like being at home. The futon beds were incredibly comfortable, and the room itself was peaceful and cozy. Taka and Yuka are such kind and helpful people; their warm hospitality made our stay even more special. We also rented bicycles from them and had an amazing time riding around Kyoto and even exploring areas outside the city. It was a wonderful experience, and we’re really grateful for everything!

The host was so warm and accommodating. Felt really homely and was absolutely spotless! Would love to stay here again and would recommend to everyone.

We had such a wonderful stay in the Higashiyama neighborhood of Kyoto! Easy walk to transit with lots of convenience stores and a 24 hour laundromat around the corner, as well as walkable to Pontocho alley, Gion neighborhood, Chionin temple, and more. Taka and Yuka are the loveliest hosts, making our experience here so amazing. They answered all our questions and Yuka even translated my Omikuji fortune. Unfortunately we had to change the length of our stay but they were so accommodating to our changes. We'll definitely be staying here the next time we're in Kyoto — we wish we could've stayed longer!

Absolutely amazing experience. Host was very friendly and caring. Went above & beyond multiple times to accommodate us. The location is near the subway and within walking distance of numerous Kyoto essential landmarks in a cozy alley lit by strung lamplights.
Room was very clean. Towels & trash were changed daily.

A cosy and quaint guesthouse in a small alleyway. The Japanese style room was really spacious with a beautifully designed vanity / shower / toilet area. We loved the common area where you can sit and dine with a view to a zen Japanese garden. Yuka and Taka were amazing hosts — thoughtful, friendly and accommodating.
Other pros: The shared kitchen area has everything you need — microwave, kettle, coffee and tea, utensils etc. It’s also close to shops, eateries and subway stations.
The room upstairs has a steep and narrow staircase (but they might have a ground floor room option? ). You may hear the occasional noise from the streets.
Overall, we love this place and will definitely be back if we visit Kyoto again! Thanks Yuka and Taka for our stay! ❤️❤️

Taka and Yuka were such great hosts! We came earlier than check-in time but we could leave our big luggage. Once we checked in, Taka gave us a tour of the house, a beautiful old but renovated house in a Shotengai. We got some great tips for the neighbourhood, such as some great restaurants, supermarket, etc. They even put our luggage in our room.
Our room itself was on the groundfloor it, so cozy and surprisingly roomy. It's all tatami and you sleep on a futon (really comfy! ) the bathroom was great as well, very modern but fits the room aesthetic/vibe! Really nice shower and toilet! It even has a small private garden.
The Guesthouse is such a recommendation! Tucked into a calm Shotengai but yet 10/15 min away on foot from the Gion district and more busy areas. Great base to visit Kiyomizudera, Gion, Yasaka shrine and much more!

Oki’s inn is a great place to stay in Kyoto. It has an old world charm and history. The place is restored elegantly. We were in their ground floor room which had a cute attached garden. It was all zen to relax on Japanese Futons and stare at this cute garden. There is also a lovely lounge area to prepare some tea coffee and food if you have the time and is open 24/7. Yuka suggested us an antique shop close by and we scored some kimono jackets. Yuka was very helpful and Taka gave us take away coffee as we had to leave very early morning. You see so much warmth, grace and elegance in this place. In midst of expensive hotels and machiyas Kyoto has to offer this is great value. We ended our Kyoto trip having matcha ice cream on banks of the stream flowing next to the guest house. Go ahead and book you have made the right choice :)

This is probably the best airbnb/hotel I stayed in Japan. I stayed for 4 nights and absolutely everything was near to perfect. The rooms are very nice, clean, beautiful, traditional and cozy. It has a common area with a kitchen and tables. The location is excellent, since it is a 5 minutes walk to arrive to the central avenue of Kyoto and 2 minutes walk to the nearest station. There are many available options to eat near Oki's. Basically, everything was almost perfect, but the best, was the hosts. They are always taking care of you, giving recommendations, explaining things, lending you things as an umbrella, etc… in my case, they even gave to us a little bag with Japanese candies since we made a good relationship. Please treat them with respect since they are the best host I have known. You won't regret staying at Oki's, it absolutely worth it <3

A UNIQUE and wonderful little Inn to stay at in an old interesting suburb of Kyoto, adjoining Gion. Oki's Inn is run by a lovely Japanese couple Taka and Yuka who met when studying in Tasmania! So their English and understanding of travel needs is excellent. The Inn was once a town house and bakery, built in the early 1920's, and is situated in an old shopping arcade, once a thoroughfare for pilgrims in Edo times. During the pandemic, the couple took advantage of quieter times to renovate the INN, adding well designed ensuites to each room. They have carefully preserved the original feel of the old building. Our room, on the ground floor, had a tiny Japanese garden attached. Note there is a small steep staircase to the upper rooms. There is a shared lounge and basic kitchen on the ground floor for guests. We were made very welcome, and highly recommend. You do sleep Japanese style on Futons, but giving up a western bed for a couple of nights here is worth it. Plenty of interesting places are within walking distance, and there are some good restaurants, bakeries, and cafes close by. Reasonably priced guided walks of the area are available from the community office in the arcade.

I absolutely loved my stay here. Simple accommodations, but everything worked perfectly. Shower and bathroom were modern and had amazing water pressure. The real win, however, is getting to meet the family who runs this guesthouse.
Location was also convenient and located on an adorable street and near a wonderful river walk.
Warning: don’t stay here if you have trouble getting up and down stairs. The stairs in this place are an old style, similar to a ladder.
