Kyoto Hotels near Miyakomesse

Wonderful hotel and staff rooms are great but the hotel is a bit dated.

My wife and I had a great stay at Hotel Alza Kyoto. The room was surprisingly spacious and very quiet, even though the hotel is close to the main areas of Kyoto.

We stayed here for our 4 nights in Kyoto on our three week tour of Japan.

Where to begin, they're part of the Banyan group so you expect a level of service and luxury and Dhawa Yura did not disappoint.
A beatutiful hotel and space in general.

I can’t help but thinking this is the best hotel in Kyoto!

I stayed at the Tassel hotel 6 nights in September 2025.
I really liked the hotel: it’s comfortable, clean, nice and modern, with a great location to visit Kyoto and helpful staff.

Two adults, one teenager from Texas, USA stayed here for 3 nights in May. Best hotel room of our entire 2 week stay in Japan by far!

We had an absolutely amazing stay at STITCH Hotel in Kyoto and I’m so grateful I booked it based on other people’s reviews ~ every single positive comment turned out to be true!

Pros: The rooms are very comfortable and well designed, with a small fridge included. The bathroom and shower are separated, which is really convenient.

Spacious rooms with all the amenities you’ll need — plus a fridge and a microwave! The bath was the highlight for us though! Quiet area and the rooms were nicely decorated.

A gem of a hotel in Kyoto. The area is absolutely beautiful, with a shallow tiny river where we were greeted by a grey heron each day. The walk to subway and bus is short.

A wonderful hotel. The room was perfect, everything we needed and a lovely view over the neighbouring stream.

Location is great! It’s an easy walk to many restaurants and all the hidden gems that Kyoto has to offer.

I stayed in 4 different hotels on my trip to Japan, and this one was my absolute favorite. The decor, the rooms, staff, and location was all 10/10! They were very helpful and friendly too.

A excellent hotel!
The building itself beautifully reflects the historic character of the area from the outside, while the interior is nothing short of stunning.

Stayed for 4 days in June 2026. This hotel very conveniently located. It’s easy to reach from the subway Station and this made us getting around the city simple.

Love our stay here! While we did rely on buses and the subway to get around Kyoto, we actually enjoyed staying in this area.

Beautiful hotel. We had a big, bright room for an amazing price right in the heart of the city. Several subway stops nearby, and several bus routes. Many sites within a 15 or 20 minute walk.

The best hotel we have ever stayed in! Absolutely beautiful, tranquil accommodations with gorgeous design.

As much as we wish we could keep this gem a secret for ourselves, the world deserves to know about this incredible place, and Higashiyama Shikikaboku deserves to be recognized for its world-class

We were very pleased with the room layout and amenities.

More than expected is the only way to put it.
Location:
Steps from the hotel is Sanjo Station on the Keihan Main Line and honestly, this alone is reason enough to stay here.

The hotel is in a super convenient location, really close to Sanjo Station.

Large unit with a separate bedroom that had 2 full-sized beds. Bathroom is nicely segmented with a room with large with a tub and a side area for shower. Shower has nice pressure.

The location of this place is a little outside the city center but with the metro station right next door, it wasn't a problem for us.
The check-in process seems a bit laborious at first glance but

Comfortable beds and reasonable sized room, plenty of amenities and in a good location near to old streets of Gion and close to two subway stations.

Great location in the heart of Gion so you can stroll at night the touristy spot nearby without the crowd (go to the shrine near the park it’s stunning at night).

Perfectly located next to Gion and just a 5-minute walk from the bridge to the city center. Convenient access to Kyoto’s main temples and attractions, either on foot or by a short bus/metro ride.

The place is lovely and new, good area, and the staff are lovely. Beds are on the firm side, but very comfortable and with good quality linen. Very happy with our choice.

Pros:
-Staff are beyond nice and very helpful!
-Zashiki Twin Room was actually massive by any hotel standards, not just Japan hotel standards.
-Room was super cute, futons were comfy.

I couldn’t have picked a better place to stay in Kyoto!

Everything was great about this stay.

Miru Gion was the perfect place to base ourselves for our visit to Kyoto. The location is amazing so quiet and peaceful but a short walk to food/stations and shops.

The rooms are clean and this hotel has some super fun amenities.

Very friendly and helpful staff. We arrived earlier than check in, and the hotel allowed us to store our luggage. Having laundry was great.

Tldr, I'd stay here again.
Great location, facility, staff. Just 1 block from Hanamikoji street, Kenninji Temple. And 10 minutes tov the shopping district.

I’ve been to Kyoto numerous times and this is by far the best hotel I’ve stayed in. The location is perfect, as it is on a quiet street but still close to all the action.

For the value, I would still stay here again now that I know how to handle the room/hotel issues.

The location is great as it’s in the heart of the traditional Kyoto, the Gion.

This is a very unique hotel experience. The hotel is part of a temple. It is so serene and a great way of having a peaceful rest, reflection and contemplation.

Stayed here back in February for one night and it was a phenomenal stay.

I enjoyed a fantastic 6 nights stay at this hotel in kyoto!

We are very happy to stay here. Would recommend friends here.
Staff are friendly and helpful especially the Ms at front desk from Korea.
Room spacious and clean.
Space well plan.

A very comfortable hotel.

Our family of four greatly enjoyed our stay at Hotel Mastay. Fairly spacious room with four beds and nice amenities like a washer/dryer.

My wife and I stayed at the Hotel Higashiyama in Kyoto for several days and really enjoyed our stay. Our room layout was nice, and although not very large, the layout made it feel big and not cramped.

Only stayed one night in this hotel and it was appreciated by my partner and I.
First, the GHA Platinum membership was recognized through the room upgrade.

Our room is very spacious suits us perfectly as a family of 5. Clean, centrally located, close to transport, walking distance to lots of good food options.

Pleasant stay at very convenient location. It is clean and easy to check in/check out via app. We are glad to choose this hotel for our 3-night visit to kyoto:)
