Cheap Hotels in Kyoto near Maruyama Park

It was my first time staying in a hostel, and I feel so lucky that I found this one in Kyoto. The location is perfect — super convenient to get anywhere, with lots of great food and shops nearby.

Easily the best hotel/hostel experience I had in Japan — by a wide margin.
From the moment I checked in, the Tsukimi team made me feel completely at home.

It was my first experience in a capsule room in Japan but everything was great. The room is always clean even the shared accommodation.

Really solid capsule hotel. The capsules are quite nice, very comfortable and have everything you need. Locker is a decent size, bigger than some other capsule hotels.

I stayed here almost 11 years ago and I plan on returning this year. I stayed in Japan for 6 weeks and this was my favourite place to stay.

The guesthouse is in a perfect location – quiet, yet very central. It’s exceptionally clean and perfectly equipped.

Absolutely amazing, centrally located and affordable. Li, the owner, goes put of his way to make you feel at home. Lots of toiletries to use and laundry service.

The stay was nice. Showers were clean and there was free coffee. The traditional beds were oke for a couple of days, but not for a week. I was looking forward to a place with curtains and a good bed.

We stayed for 6 nights and loved it. Very helpful, friendly staff, great location and well equipped kitchen with free coffee you can make in individual drip. Amazing hot water for showers.

I was supposed to stay in another place that was terrible so I found Ryokan hostel last minute and it was FANTASTIC!

I loved my stay here. The room was comfy and bright, and easy walking distance to what is the beautiful city of Kyoto! Highly recommended.

The location is near most iconic spots in Kyoto, very convenient, and the room is just perfectly comfortable after a long day of strolling around the city.

Jam is wonderful! I have stayed there a few times, and would absolutely go back. The owners are incredibly friendly and kind, with great English.

For the price you can't go wrong. I stayed in female top bunks and they were comfy and spacious. They had Japan type two prong electric slot for charging.

A relatively inexpensive, basic, yet very comfortable, and well-located hostel for a short trip to Kyoto. Open 24/7, you can arrive late at night, as they leave your capsule key at the reception desk.

I loved this hostel. The beds have curtains, it's decently close to the subway, and best of all the (free! ) breakfast is amazing. Lots of variety and the miso soup is delicious.

Such an amazing stay at this hostel! the kindness of the staff is unlike anywhere from the warm greetings and goodbyes to the breakfast served daily — it all makes me feel so at ease and at home!

Haven't been in hostels in a while as there not as common in japan as in other country traveled in.
Dormitory was great big bed usb plug and lights curtains on the bed side.

Confortable (and big) beds and nice shared spaces that are well kept. Bus and train station are 5 minutes away. Although one toilet for so many people might not be ideal.

Felt super homey—like staying at a friend’s old Kyoto house.
Traditional vibes with tatami rooms and sliding doors, very chill.
Common area was cozy, met a few other travelers over tea.

Best place in town.

The inn is in the Gion preservation district full of antique shops and small restaurants. The building is a traditional Kyo-machida and the owner, Kazuhiko says it’s been an inn for 50 years.

This is a very traditional Japanese house turn in to inn.
Owner is very nice, as soon we arrive he seat us down and explains all the attraction and ways to get there easily.

If you want to try the traditional Japanese style, you should give this place a try. We really recommend this place. We love our stay here. Also don't forget to try their porridge for breakfast.

If you want to experience an old Ryokan, this is the best place for you. Love how it feels homy.

Spacious room, clean, near to public transportation, near to mall, near to restaurant.
Stair too narrow. Have to be really careful climbing the stairs. Good luck to those carrying huge heavy luggage.

I was completely satisfied with my stay at this accommodation!
The bed was very comfortable and clean, as was the bathroom.

Very friendly and helpful staff greet you at the lobby on the second floor which is accessed by a lift.

The staff was incredible! They sent me an item I had left there. The bed was comfy and the checkout time was perfect! The location is good.

I've visited many wonderful places around the guest house by foot and explored many other places in Kyoto conveniently because it is near a train station and a bus station.
