Cheap Hotels in Kyoto near Kyoto

This is a hotel that truly makes you feel comfortable and eager to return.
The service quality is outstanding.

I had a very pleasant stay so I’m giving it 5 stars. Very close to the train station and 3 convenience stores. At scheduled times, they would provide free udon and alcoholic beverages.

After more than 20 years of travel, this is my favourite hostel. I had expected to stay only 3 nights, but this hostel & the beauty of Kyoto changed my mind; I eventually stayed nearly 2 weeks!

The hostel had 3 toilets and showers per floor, plus a few in the lounge floor, so there was never the issue of having to wait to go to the toilet or take a shower.

I love staying here in Unknown Kyoto.

My 4-n stay (¥11, 800) at UNKNOWN's dormitory was fantastic. The ambience of the repurposed old house was really nice. The futon was comfortable and the privacy curtains made it easy to sleep well.

Kahori, the owner, is absolutely 5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️. I stayed here on a long solo trip through Japan, and Chita really felt like home.

Very good and the lady is very nice!

Nice chill place to stay in a very convenient location. You're really close to the station and there are a lot of conbinis around.

Conveniently located just a short 5-7 min walk from Kyoto station (There is a subway connecting the entire stretch — helps in case it rains). The hostel is clean and nice.

Before coming to Japan, we thought the room here would be very small based on the photos.

Super cute hotel! I loved the designs of everything. I thought the room was going to be dark all day, but there is a huge window that allows lots of natural light in the morning.

It locates in a quiet neighborhood. The building is an authentic Japanese style wooden house. You can really see how Japanese lives in daily life. The staff is friendly and willing to help.

Great location. Very cute and authentic. Staff are very nice! Cafes and laundry around. They also have lots of board games and coffee and tea, and a map of Kyoto vegan food etc super helpful.

The hotel is less than a 10-minute walk from Kyoto Station, which is very convenient. The single room is spacious enough to open two 28-inch suitcases at the same time. The place is extremely clean.

Very near to Kyoto station.
The room is not so small but not very sound proof. You can hear people in other rooms talk.
There's public bathroom with an onsen. I took a bath at 8PM but there was noone.

Location’s great, Room’s a bit tiny if you have large luggage, Amenities are great.
The team is also pretty prompt w handling deliveries systematically.

Extremely good value for money in a superb location, walking distance to both Osaka (about 15 mins) and Yodyaibashi (about 7 mins) stations which give you access to basically everything.

Very nice vintage like rooms, you feel like you are living in a previous, simpler time, although all the facilities are modern and convenient.

The hotel is really nice & clean. It is in a very calm neighborhood and a bit further away from any public transportation.

This hotel is excellent across the board. The facilities are clean, spacious, and comfortable, its location is unbeatable, and the staff's service and attention are outstanding.

Interesting experience for a foreigner but well worth it. There are some rules to follow as it's more of an inn than a hotel or abb (and cheaper).

Amazing place, were everything has been great. Close to the station and in a quite street. Our room was cozy and comfortable!

My stay at Hotel Live Max Kyoto Kamogawamae was outstanding in every aspect. It perfectly balanced serene comfort with fantastic accessibility.
The location is unbeatable.

Absolutely loved our time here. 6 of us stayed here together (including kids ages: 2, 7, and 10). Would love to come back.
Ryokan felt traditional and had character yet remained very comfortable.

What a great way to experience living in a Kyoto. The house was lovely and well equipped, sleeping on the tatami mats was fun and comfortable.

I absolutely loved loved my stay here. Was super peaceful and I love that you get your own space. Also there's a bath which was a blessing after a lot of travelling.

Shizuya is a beautiful hotel, I loved the cosy atmosphere starting from the lobby.
I also want to recognize the amazing staff who is very professional and nice.

Location — it’s just a 500m walk from the Kyoto Central Station so it’s definitely not bad.

The desk provides limited service. (They won't hold luggage for you after you check out, but do before. ) The room is fine. It's clean and the bed is comfortable.

Nice property at very good location. This was my first experience about Japanese style room (tatami). However, futon (bedding) was smelling.

Lovely room, a bit of dirt. My son felt when he was around the grandma safe and warmth. Overall 5 stars except the bit of hair and dirt.

Had open rooms available for me at a reasonable price after I missed my train to tokyo. The room was clean and the public bath was tidy and relaxing.

Fantastic food and drink, only surpassed by the down home atmosphere enjoyed and attended by locals and tourists alike. Truly a hidden gem.

Best food, great cocktails and lovely atmosphere! Loved their hummus and the staff were amazing and helpful.
Would love to visit them again!

We are 2 budget travellers and this is one of the cheapest non-hostel accomodation we can find that is still centrally located.

A really nice place to stay.
Basic room with a futon mattress on the floor which might not be to everyone's liking but very comfortable and everything I needed.

Location is excellent and the room was spacious and clean. A tatami style room with futon beds, lovely AC unit.
As per other reviews regarding privacy issues, we had no problems with privacy.

The hostel is very well located for Kyoto station as well as giving easy access to the river and Gion.
