Nice property at very good location. This was my first experience about Japanese style room (tatami). However, futon (bedding) was smelling. They charge 200 extra tax after reaching there, even after online payment. There was no hot water on the second floor. Sorry, giving negative feedback, but its not Japanese standard.
Lovely room, a bit of dirt. My son felt when he was around the grandma safe and warmth. Overall 5 stars except the bit of hair and dirt.

About to wrap up our stay here-
Our host and all the staff are terrific, friendly, and go all out to ensure your experience is great.
It's my first time sleeping on tatami floor, but honestly, with all the exercise my husband and I had done during our stay (lots of walking and cycling) — it was just the thing I needed! I can't remember the last time (before now) that I woke up and didn't have a sore back!
The bathrooms are kept very clean, all facilities function well.
Location-wise, you have a convenience store across the road and so many great cafes and restaurants for brunch and dinner, not to mention being a 5-10 (? ) Minute walk from Kyoto train station, which connects to every line you need for exploring and such.
The rooms are neat, have air conditioning, a television, and sockets to charge your devices.
I have no gripes, honestly.
100/10 I would recommend this to a friend, especially with the fact that the Daiya Inn Ryokan is so affordable compared to other Ryokan who unfairly upcharge room prices because of location.
