Stayed here for one night. Beware — This place is not safe. 危ない。ここは安全ではあるない。 NEVER in my life has an owner barged into a room like the owners here did. We were gathered at the door with our things, about 5-10 minutes before check-out, when someone showed up the front door and just stood there. No knock, no nothing. Just standing directly in front of our door, in the immediate doorway. So we stood inside at the door, waiting for them to step away, so that we could comfortably leave. But they didn’t move. At the exact moment the check-out time hit on the clock, they barged into the room with their key. Again, no knock, no call, no communication, just opened the door and came in. We had no idea who was at the door, and it was terrifying, especially for female travelers, to have someone just let themselves in. They walked in, no greetings, no nothing, just “are you checking out? ” They wanted to clean immediately. Keep in mind, also, that this place is self check-in, so you don’t know who the staff is at all. Plus, the rooms open out directly onto a public street. So literally anyone could be at your door. Worst experience in Japan. Stay anywhere else.

Amazing hotel with a luxury feel at an affordable rate. We stayed here for only one night and regretted not extending our trip for much longer. When we return to Kyoto someday, Inari Ohan will be at the top of our list to return and book out a full week if available. The room themes are unique and very well decorated and designed. We would recommend this hotel to anyone wanting a premium experience in Kyoto.
