This hotel looks kind of basic and unassuming from the outside but I found it to be a bit of a hidden gem.

Clean and charming little hotel, tucked inside a quieter part of tenjin. Feels very rested every time we come back here. The bookable private sauna and cold pool is great as well.

For the price it is amazing, you’re on top of a 7/11, AND the rooms are huge. There’s a separate area for your shoes and clothes, and the bed area, and a bathroom.

I recently stayed at Daiwa Roynet Hotel Kokura Ekimae, and I was very impressed.

The hotel's location is fantastic, just a few minutes' walk from the JR station. Check-in was very smooth, and the staff provided detailed and helpful explanations.

We had a really enjoyable stay at Angelica Lodge. The whole premise was immaculately clean.

A great escape from the hustle and bustle. The place offers a comfortable space with great views, which makes it extra special.

Super cute and comfortable guest house. I highly recommend it! The staff are amazing and kind. The garden is beautiful and the rooms were clean.

There are no words to accurately express how wonderful this ryokan is. The grounds are beautiful, the rooms comfortably appointed, the private onsens perfection, and the food and service spectacular.

One of the best experiences in Japan! The staff were so nice and made us enjoy everything. The food was extremely good, and the restaurant environment was great.

A very good hotel with hot springs. Friendly staff and delicious dinner. I guess the hotel owner is a fan of Gundam. There are a lot of Gundam and manga on display in the second building.

We had a few days exploring the region from here and found it had everything we needed.

Traditional ryokan – we had a room with a toilet, and the onsen was shared. The room was comfortable and clean, but for us the highlights were two things.

The cottages are large and offer a different experience to hotel rooms. Ours also had a kitchen.
They charge if you ask for extra pillows.

Fantastic rustic guesthouse in forested setting, helpful host with great pre-arrival communication in English, very comfortable rooms (bedroom and sitting) which were warm and cosy when we arrived on

The location is about a 10-minute drive from Kurokawa Hot Spring Street. The road before arriving at the accommodation is a bit narrow, so it is recommended to arrive before dark.

Great ryokan. They were able to accommodate my request for a gluten free meal, which is rare in japan. The staff speaks some english and is very service oriented!

The staff are nice and friendly, some can communicate in English. The room is slightly smaller than most other onzen ryokans that we've stayed in. The onzen have a metallic/rusty smell.

Traditional ryokan set in a little town and stretch of street with several other ryokans where guest can access them with a day pass. Our room came with dinner and breakfast.

Our best experience we had in Japan! The private onsen on the roof top was a nice touch! The 6 course meal was a 10/10! I can’t wait to see what we’re going to have breakfast tomorrow!

The men’s bath & sauna are surprisingly nice for a business hotel, but the women’s area is very disappointing.

We enjoyed our stay here – check-in was fuss free and the staff were lovely.

A Night at Owakionsen Kaze no Mori: An Immersive Forest Retreat.
Last night, I stayed at Owakionsen Kaze no Mori, a hidden gem nestled in nature.

Room: the room was fantastic by Japanese standards, it was big with a private patio. Having your own villa is great for relaxation. The onsen water was hot and calming to be in nature.

Absolutely loved this place, very typical Japanese ryokan, everything about it was excellent from start to finish.

TLDR; 4.5 stars.
Recommended for people who are looking for a great value-for-money stay in Takeo Onsen; if you are particular about room design or "newness", this might not be for you.

Location is very central and convenient. There are many things to do around the hotel, especially during Christmas time. Service is exceptional. It’s right by the river so the view is great.

I stayed at this hotel twice and was very happy it is comfortable and the rooftop is very pleasant to see the city.

We recently stayed at a hotel and it was an excellent experience for our family trip. The room was spacious and beautifully designed, making us feel right at home.

Great breakfast and super friendly staff. The café staff were especially kind and helpful, which made it a really nice start to our trip.

Nice western style hotel. The best part is definitely the view and location of the hotel, It's perched up on a hill.
The rooms are decent although nothing to really write home about.

Even though the location is away from the station and city area, we appreciated it for the quiet surroundings. You will need to have a car to access this hotel.

This inn is in a very beautiful onsen town. The room and the service are definately 5 stars. The onsen rooms are also very nice and relaxing. As to the dinner it is decent but not amazing.

It’s generally fine, not bad.
However, I wouldn’t recommend it to those who frequently stay at high-quality ryokans. The food was quite simple compared to a 4-star ryokan in other places.

I'm giving this place 5 stars just because the hotel itself is amazing. You are staying in a giant work of art and the rooms are great. The staff is friendly and very helpful also.

This resort is amazing! From the unique architecture to their services are absolutely fantastic. We stayed on the 4th floor which was looking onto the beautiful townscape and coastline of Beppu.

We had a wonderful glamping experience at Grand Verde Resort Beppu. The glamping place is beautiful, and the dome room looks very classy.

We really enjoying this glamping experience as a city person. It’s relaxing our minds with a chill vibe.
The room is clean and cute, and the temperature is just right.
