Good staff, nice location. Very small room. Good shared kitchen/coffee maker. Book in advance to get discount. Nothing more here than location. Not even a breakfast place. However, neighborhood restaurants have some good options.

It was a really nice place to stay. The room was excellent, id say stylish even. Just small. Everything perfectly clean and quality linens too. The room is small, but it is New York. It wasn’t an issue. The bathroom was small and nice as well. The service was pretty okay too. The price was reasonable for New York as well. For a family maybe not, but for one or two people I highly recommend this place. You’re pretty close to a lot the attractions of the city.

I liked the hotel, small rooms (almost no window and certainly no light) but nicely furnished with wood floor and no carpet clean and with a nice bathroom. All in a magnificent part of the city (upper west side) and not expensive. So why 3 stars and not 5? Because I had some serious raw on the phone before arriving first with the front desk then with the reservation service just because I was kind enough to let them know that I was arriving late and the person sharing the room with me earlier … staff training is definitely req uired.

Just a come blocks away from the subway, the rooms are very small, but also cozy, clean and comfortable. Service was very good! Checked in within a couple minutes and when there was an issue with our door, one of the cleaning staff was nearby to let us into our room.

Small room but perfect location: 2 minutes from the Metro that joins time square in 6 minutes! The hotel is a bit dated but close to Central Park and several small restaurants.

Great location, friendly staff, and the rooms were clean. On the other hand, tiny spaces so small you could barely move. No place to hang clothes, no iron, window faced a brick wall. The worse thing was the toilet didn’t work. After two days of them claiming to fix it, I was given a new room. Slightly larger, window faced an alley, so at least I could gauge the weather and there was a space to hang clothes. I went in April, (unpredictable weather) so I needed the option of an upbeat place to chill while waiting for Mother Earth to shift moods. This wasn’t it. Also, they had the nerve to provide a safe; a rusty old safe and worn toilet seat in a room where you had to scoot around the bed to open and close the curtains. Hilarious. Lastly, card key kept getting demagnetized so I had to keep going down to the front desk to get them to reset it. I’ll never stay there again.

Very small room but clean and good location I will definitely go back!

The location is good, close to a subway station (circa 20 minutes to Times Square) and in general it can be considered good value for money. The staff was nice and they even received a few packages that we bought online on or stay at the hotel. The room was nicely decorated and in good shape. On a not so bright side, the room was tiny. The smallest we have ever been. There was a chamfer on the wall, just where the corner of the bed was and literally you couldn’t walk normally to pass this point. You needed to walk sideways. The room was clean although they used a stained duvet once and the toilet could do with more attention. There were hairs when we arrived and the shower was clogged. We complained the first night and although it improved, water still build up the next days. I would have given 4 stars if they have put more attention to things like the clogged shower and a couple of hairs when we arrived and 5 stars if on top of this the room were a bit more spacious. To sum up, good value for money, good location and not too bad to spend a few nights there, so 3 stars (not good, not bad)

Recently remodeled Hotel, located in a very quiet residential area. Small but very comfortable rooms, the hotel is cozy and very clean. Located near Central Park, within walking distance of the Metro (line 1), near a Starbucks, CVS and other businesses where you can buy almost anything. Excellent price-quality ratio.

Very good hotel on the Upper West Side. One block from the local Metro 1 and a few blocks from the Express w96st 2 and 3 + 1. Cleanliness, very comfortable room apart the standard 2 single beds sanitary private and very comfortable. Most employees speak Spanish and have breakfast agreement at hot and crusty which is on Broadway Ave and w88st. There they also speak Spanish.

Small rooms, located in a quiet area a few blocks from Central Park, has no breakfast but has a kitchen on each floor with coffee, tea, dispenser, milk, sugar, sweetener and minibar. They ask you for credit card data as collateral if you break anything. On the 86 and Broadway is the metro station 1.

Great location, very good price, staff at the top, coffee and tea at will all day. I strongly advise.

The hotel and the attention is very good. At first I touched a very small room and asked to change it. They had no inconvenience and everything was no problem. They accept packages and do not charge x receive them.

Nice and clean hotel with a great location next to the central part. The subway red line is next street as well as the green line in direction of central park. Room is cleaned daily and towels are changed everyday as well. Sometimes you can hear someone walking down the hallway during the night but this is due to the location of the room. At least one person was on the front desk 24 hours a day. For Wi-Fi we got a key which changed every 24 hours and you need to apply the new one which was a little bit nasty, because they provided the keys on a 2x2 cm piece of paper for four days. After the four days you need to get a new paper from front desk.

Renovated and clean!
The hallways to and in the rooms are quite narrow, which did not bother us at all. Our hope was that the room is clean and freshly made every day — and we were absolutely not disappointed!
Every day the room was brought back to the foreman! We didn't miss anything. The short walk to the subway (line 1 — going to lower Manhattan) was ideal — about 2 minutes on foot. For pleasant walks, Central Park is around the corner (10-15 minutes walk).
The area is less hectic than the districts south of Central Park, but not boring at all. There are shopping facilities for the most necessary food (Manhattan prices) and great shops for shopping (including Apple or Sephora).
More northerly than the Belnord hotel we were not on the road in our 7-day stay, so I can say very little.
Conclusion: Great hotel for simple people who want to explore the island. Clean and well maintained! Great connection to the public. Quiet and very inexpensive!

Excellent hotel… very cheap for everything q offers… with coffee, tea and cold water free 24 hours a day all the flats have fridge… cleaned all the time! The rooms are spotless… room 514 is the best very comfortable… it has the subway 1… And the collective 86… a block… it has a Starbucks around x Broadway… there is a bakery in front of the Starbucks q I sold everything and a pharmacy q also sells salads…

Super tiny rooms but fantastic location! Would stay here again based on that alone. Easy access to Central Park, super easy access to subway.

Great hotel with small rooms for a great price. Perfect for people like me who used the room to sleep, shower, and change clothes. Well decorated, clean, nice coffee machine on each floor. Free Wi-Fi. Really close to the 1, 2, 3 trains.

Beautiful, clean and friendly people. There seems to be 2 stars, it seems many more. Location amazing with half a block to the subway, 10 min to get to midtown.

Very nice for the price. The rooms were small and we had to move some furniture to find electric outlets, but everything was neat and clean. Staff was professional and helpful. They had luggage storage on the ground floor, though I wouldn't leave valuables as they just give you the key to the room and let you stash/grab your stuff. Overall, we were very happy with this establishment!

The Belnord was perfect for a nice five day getaway from my husband and I. The rooms are small, but it's actually quite impressive for what they are able to do with the space, and they are very clean. Also, we were only in our room to sleep, and the beds were comfortable and it was quiet at night. The price is hard to beat, and that was the main reason we stayed. Close to the subway, restaurants and shopping. The staff were very friendly as well. If we find ourselves in NYC again, we will be coming back!

Wonderful budget hotel in Upper West Side. Rooms are small (we had a bunk-bed room), but clean, air-conditioned, great showers and a TV for every bed. Location is great. Just a 10 minute walk to Central Park, great places to eat nearby and subway line 1 is just around the corner. I can recommend this hotel for anyone visiting NYC with a budget. It beats AirBNB big time.

The rooms are boys but the care is good and are very clean.

Beret clean and tidy, both the bedroom and the bathroom. If you are looking for big, spacious room it is not for you but as a place to sleep over the night is perfect. At the reception people are helpful and very open. Great place in middle Manhattan.

The belnord hotel has been renovated recently. We cooled the face. Good care of the guys always saving situations. Unied in a neighborhood away from the hustle and bustle but with everything you need to travel to other parts of the city.

The Belnord is an excellent choice for the upper West Side. Very small rooms, but clean, and up to date. Service is excellent and close to great dining, Subway stops and a quick walk to Central or Riverside Parks.

The hotel seems to be recently renovated which was better than expected and the same goes for the room. The room we stayed in was tiny but that much could be expected from a new york hotel. The hotel staff comes by several times a day to clean the room and trash disposal. Overall id say its a pretty good choice to stay.

Small but Quaint! Great Staff and Great Cleaning Staff! Everyone is friendly and professional… We were in walking distance of everything including a 2 min walk to the subway! Our room was very up to date and the location of the hotel felt safe and inviting! 5 stars!

Over a series of phone calls I had to explain what customer service is. I forgot my computer charger which was completely my fault. I sent them a prepaid box the day I returned home (domestic) and it took about 3 weeks to get it back. No one would own the situation to help me verify the charger was located nor did anyone take charge to make sure it was sent off. If you don't become a drill sergeant you probably won't get what you need if you are not there in person. They probably would have continued to blame the mail guy for not grabbing the package if I hadn't called everyday at week 3. I had to call to follow up ever step. Very frustrating service.

Nicely renovated. Nice if you want to be in a more residential part of Manhattan, away from touristy midtown. Small, but not bad if you're used to European hotels.

The staff is really incredible, always there to help. They do some massives renovations inside, and it's really beautiful and the colours are more peaceful. But don't make big exception around the size of the room 'cause it's really small. But actually people just go to their room to sleep and after the go out to visit the city so it's not a big deal.

I went to New York back in 2011 with a friend of mine to celebrate his 21st Birthday. As neither of us had a huge amount of money at the time, we picked Hotel Belnord as it was the cheapest hotel we could find in Manhattan. It turns out we underestimated the size of Manhattan a bit, as it wasn't quite as close to the action as we thought, although it was very near a subway station, so getting around was no problem. The room was absolutely tiny, a double bed barely fitted in, but it didn't really matter. It was cheap, clean and the internet worked. It was just a base for exploring Manhattan really, we spent very little time actually in the hotel room. For an inexpensive base, as long as you're not too worried about room size etc, I'd recommend it.

Rooms are very small, but if you're just looking for a basic place to sleep at night without breaking the bank it's quite ideal. There was renovation going on during our stay, which was fairly annoying but we spent so little time in the room during the day it didn't really affect us.

It's the equivalent of a high-end hostel in a major European city without breakfast, so 4 stars. The check in is late, at 2pm, so arrive later or have a morning itinerary. It is a stroll away from everything on the Upper West Side. Very clean and very compact. Has internet, coffee machine and printer in the lobby. Each room has its own bathroom.

Scams The hotel Belnord charged the whole cancellation fee three weeks before the date untill which the booking cancellation was free. Once you give them your credit card number, they will take some money and provide idiotic explanation. It took them additional three weeks to reimburse the money. At the end the money I got back was less than they took due to currency exchange rate. The hotel is highly unproffessional. Scamming potential guests is no way of doing business!

Rooms very small and bathroom also. The heating towards a lot of noise. We always find everything clean. The bedspread was a little old and I found long hairs of previous guests. For the price I think that this according to what you have to offer.

I stayed in the hotel at the end of December.
At the checkout, the hotel refused to me given an invoice. In an emergency (plane) I could not do much thing.
Two days later, the hotel has charged me$ 700 higher than planned ($ 1400 in total).
I contacted them and they explained this by an input error. But they don't have repaid me$ 400 without an explanation and details on their part.
I tried to contact them by all means (going on the phone, mail) they are now answering.

Relationship quality/price excellent. Located in a good area, close to the metro and well connected. The room very clean. The only drawback is that the room is extremely small. But if you use it only to go to sleep is enough.

This hotel worked out fine for us. The room was very small, but affordably priced (for NYC). We walked all over Manhattan. The Belnord is close to the subway. I'd recommend staying here if you plan on spending more time away from your hotel. Last thing. We ended up taking the Yellow, Q line all the way to Queens and took an Uber the rest of the way to LaGuardia. You'll save a good bit of money doing that.

I am having a hard time deciding which star rating to put. I had a room on the fourth floor. My room was clean and had a nice TV on the wall. It was small but it's NYC, I expected it. You put your luggage under the bed as there is no where else to place it. The hotel is in a nice neighborhood on the upper west side. The 1 train at 86th is nearest. I would stay again. The reason for my trouble with the star rating? There is a room on the first floor near the luggage storage area that absolutely smells of urine. They had towels at the door attempting to stop the smell but it was impossible. I don't know what's going on in there but it was bad. Could I smell this in my room? No. I had no problems my entire stay but they should figure out how to address whatever is going on behind this door. I have looked on the Internet and others spoke of it on other sites with no explanation. Again, I did not stay on the first floor so this did not impact my stay.

Do yourself a favour and pay the extra few dollars to stay somewhere else. Unfriendly, unhelpful staff. Rooms were tiny (and I do mean the size of a closet), smelly and the linen was yellowing. I found a long black hair on my pillow when I overturned it. My mum's bathroom was renovated, so it was decent albeit tiny. However, my bathroom was dingy, old and dirty. You could not have paid me to step foot in the shower. My mother and I spent an hour in the rooms looking for another hotel to book and checked out immediately. The hotel did offer us the option of switching rooms and perhaps there are better rooms than the ones we got, but we weren't taking our chances. They refunded our second and third night but refused to refund the first night. They stated this was because we used the rooms and they could not be resold that night; they had not been used, only the toilet had been used and it was 3pm when we checked out. Our complaint to hotel management was met with an insinuation that my mother and I were lying about the hair on the pillow. What purpose would we have for lying? Fortunately for us, we found another hotel and it was much nicer. The difference was only approximately $20 a night. We did lose upwards of $400 for the first night at the Belnord that they refused to refund plus taxi fares to change hotels, but it was worth it for the comfort of staying in a nice hotel. I have travelled all over the world and have honestly never come across a hotel like this.

The small bedroom that I have ever seen in my life, but you get used to if you only have these in the hotel to sleep. I emphasize on the cleaning of the bathroom and the bedroom in general, everything always very clean and in order, never failed. Close to many local for breakfast, lunch, take a coffee or going out to take drinks for the night. A neighborhood clean and attractive, close to Central Park (just over 10 mins walk) and the metro. The only thing that worried me were some of the vagrants that slept the night in the surroundings of the hotel, maybe that does not give you full confidence as to return very late after a party. I guess there are better places in New York, but for the price I was satisfied and probably would come back.

Even in NY there are plenty hotels that offer better value. Con: — rooms are super-small — just enough room for a bed. No cupboard or anything! — showers are awkward. It took five minutes until resonably warm water came. — the hallways are noisy — the staff was unfriendly — Codes of the Wi-Fi change at midnight and not at noon where people check in an out — that's stupid. Also you have to reenter them all the time. Pro: — location: resonably quiet, close to subway & central park.

Very tiny rooms and expensive Rates. Some Label Hotels in Downtown has better prices. For twin bed room we gonna charged 30 $+Tax. Thats not ok.

I am really surprise this hotel is rated higher. I am not one to give a bad rating, but my experience was not a good one. Only one of the staff members who was a young man was nice. The others would not even look at you. I paid a lot of money for one weekend to be treated in that manner. Also, I have never encountered a mouse in a hotel before. It was inside lobby trying to run outside through the opening of the front door. We mentioned the incident and it was ignored. The rooms were clean. If you want to eat in, make sure you have your smart phone to look up restaurants because staff is not helpful and they can't even recommend a place for you to dine. They have no directory in the room nor menu. The location was nice beside the room being clean. The room is very very small for two people. I am looking at the other reviews and I am wondering if we were in the same hotel. Unreal. This is the honest truth. The only guy that was nice is from Bazil and young. I forgot to mention to run the hot water for a long time, if not you will be in for a surprise. Please really check it out before booking your stay.
