Very pleased with my stay, this hotel is well located for access to downtown and there are parkings available if needed. Personnel is very helpful, rooms are a but small but maintained. On the street side, without the ac blowing, it is noisy.

I highly recommend this hotel to run in complete NY tranquility, just out of the downtown chaos (if you can say it's out of town). Very close to the subway. Great Wifi amenities included nice price room. Spotless. Nice rooms. Unlike other hotels that. From the photos they look beautiful and clean. Then ebtri in the room is you wonder "is this the hotel I had booked thoroughly?! ", this is assured.

This hotel is amazing and absolutely beautiful! My cousin has had here birthday celebration here 2 years in a row. They have a rooftop restaurant as well as a restaurant that serves a boozy brunch. It's great! Just wish the parking was better.

I really can't recommend this place enough! Great part of town, amazing staff and a snazzy restaurant located inside. Peter, the doorman has a ton of NYC tips that will make your visit AWESOME! Go, and enjoy! Tell them Juan sent you :) (But don't tell them I said skip breakfast there and go to Andy's Deli for an egg sandwich)

The food and drinks were very good. We are very grateful that they could accommodate our party of 15 people for my birthday party, which is very hard to do in NYC for a party that size. They were also able to accommodate for celiac (gluten allergy) and their bread is gluten free and amazing. I would definitely recommend.

Rooms seemed recently remodeled. Doors and windows were modern and allowed very limited sound from outside noises. Bed slept nice. Small bathroom. In room safe. Digital flat screen TV. No free Wi-Fi.

Quaint hotel right off the subway line. Right across from the planetarium and natural history museum. Lots of food nearby. Clean room, extra helpful staff and a really nice room. Old world elegance.

Location was great! A block from Central Park and the subway. Very convenient. Rooms were pretty basic but well kept and clean. Service was wonderful. Always there and ready to help with anything needed.

Nice hotel, the receptionist who is in the evening we were wonderful, super attentive nice and daring. Thank you very much for giving us a warm service and making our vacation something magical.

Gorgeous hotel lobby and the rooms are pretty decent considering the age. The beds are comfortable and they offer complimentary robes that you can purchase if you'd like. The staff have. Been so friendly and accommodating. When we had our flights cancelled due to weather, the other hotel we stayed at wanted to charge us more than double to stay an extra two night. The Excelsior Hotel did not price gouge us in times of emergency. Even the maintenance guys was super friendly and installed a brand new ow dryer for us when the existing one broke. The hotel is a 5 minute walk to the entrance of the Natural History Museum and central park. If staying in NYC this is a must pick Hotel.

Hotel is in a good location by Central park. Rooms are a decent size and the buildings quite well maintained. The best thing about the hotel is the staff. All 3 of the reception staff have been so helpful. From sorting out my phone Wi-Fi problem, helping us get around the city and moving us to a better room because our aircon had packed up. All done with a smile and a helpful word, nothing was too much trouble. If I got the chance to come back again to this hotel I would definitely. Well done and thanks.

Good location close to subway. Nice room. We has a drainage issue in tub, wasn't take care of. Other than that the hotel is recommended.

Wonderful location, but you could here every pipe in the hotel room. The bar was amazing and the hotel was clean. If it was not for all the noise, I would give it a 5.

Great place to stay. Room was a little long (heater made noises when it came on). Staff apologized and gave us a better room. Good experience, rooms were clean, comfortable with GREAT views. Restaurant/bar was really nice as well. Reasonable rates.

I have stayed here many times since 2002, and ALWAYS appreciate the friendly, helpful staff. This visit saw dirty elevators and someone ELSE's hair in the shower. One more chance, as I love the location.

Bad experience while talking to the front desk. We were staying for Christmas, and looking for some food to eat. And guy answered me, it’s Christmas. And I know, I am pretty sure the world knows it is Christmas. So, where I can get food, is that be hard to tell the restraunts nearby? Or just don’t care their customers.

The hotel is lovely and in an ideal location. My only complaint is that the hotel seems oddly penny pinching for a place of its caliber. There is a $25 fee to 'unlock' the pull out couch bed, and even guests are charged daily for the privilege of using the Wi-Fi (with a 3 device limit per payment). Other than that we had a lovely stay at a reasonable price, and the holiday decorations inside were gorgeous.

We booked (and paid for) two rooms with queen size beds. We got doubles. When we inquired, we were told it's a "New York" queen. That's ridiculous! The clerk was very rude despite us being very nice. The hotel was OK. Party of 4. We won't stay here again.

I stayed at this Hotel in New York in the week of the New York Marathon. For the location I give 5 stars, but as for the rest, unfortunately 2 stars if not 1. Dirty bathroom already on our arrival, shower full of limestone and some parts even rusty. Toilet that shut up a continuation. Cleaning the lower room, old carpet. As we already knew there was no fridge bar in the room, but only sparkling and natural water at room temperature sold as if it were gold. Wifi paid in the room, almost 6th for a day the basic version. Breakfast wasn't included and we didn't even see it.
Very painful note, the CONCIERGE service. The day before departure we spoke to the concierge, Mr. KRIS, we asked for a Van for 8 people with 6 large luggage, he immediately took charge of our request, made a couple of phone calls and found the Van, asked us for a deposit of 45 euros. We gladly left, knowing that the next day at 9 o'clock. 30 would arrive the van for 8 people with place for large luggage. The next day at 9 o'clock. 15 we go down for the checkout, the bellman warns us that the car had already arrived, we go outside and we find that the car was for 8 people, but without luggage, to which we started a long discussion with the taxi driver, who, of Hispanic origin, did not want know about it, that was the car, and he didn't care about anything anymore.

Good service and impeccable cleanliness but not worth a 4 * French. Perfect location. Room a little small but compensated by the breathtaking view of the 11th floor.

Great location… a 100m from a subway mouth.
Room style year 70 but very comfortable.
Only downside, the staff at the cold reception, no effort to talk simply and slowly and do not speak a word of French… it's not Glop!

Absolutely beautiful hotel. It's expensive, as all NYC hotels are, but it was great. It was within walking distance of so much. I would definitely stay there again.

Large room and clean toilet. Very comfortable beds and pillows. Staff are friendly. The location is great.

Outdated, rooms are small, overpriced. All of these things I can deal with BUT! When eating the breakfast a RAT ran past me, in the open with no fear. Disgusting to say the least, I dont trust this hotel and whatever sanitary standard they keep.

Calle Ocho is a fantastic brunch spot. Delicious food, great sangria, fair prices, nice decor. Make sure you make a reservation in advance or get there right as it opens for a spot at the bar, they fill up quick!

They had great service, early check in, held bags after check out tell time to go to airport. The view of from are room was the best my fiance and I had to pull each other away from the window. When I came back to the N. Y. I'm definitely staying at the Excelsior.

Good location next to two major subway lines, central park, and the natural history museum. The rooms are clean, but smaller and a bit dated. Staff are good. The Wi-Fi is free on the second floor only. All other floors are per day charge.

Loved them! They are so friendly! We left another hotel and booked this through Travelocity immediately so the reservation wasn't updated on their computer yet but we had tickets to the game and in a hurry so they told us not to worry that they would get us checked in when we got back and took our luggage for hold so we could make it to the game on time. They gave us a free breakfast card. The room was very nice. The AC worked great! The hotel was a block from the subway which was great! The bellhop (luggage) was super friendly. I was so happy that we changed hotels. The location was next to the natural history museum. Central Park was was right there & so many shops & places to eat. I am very happy and will use them again.

Good hotel very well located (quiet neighborhood and immediate vicinity of the metro and restaurants).
Wifi paid in the rooms but free wi-Fi point on the 2nd floor.
As everywhere in NewYork the prices are (very) high.

The Hotel is clean but the rooms are very small.
The dressing room is filled with dust and the cleaning of the bathroom leaves to be desired. Finally the smell of the elevators is unpleasant.

Had a great experience, soap was awesome best soap I've ever used. Location could not be better, close to many uptown attractions. Interior was very nice as well.

I just had an amazing stay at the Hotel. The front desk person gave me a free upgrade to an amazing suite. I had mentioned to the housekeeper how much I enjoyed the soap and every day she left me some extra (I hope she doesn't get in trouble for that). The front desk staff was gracious and helpful. Free over night shoe shines. Great Toiletries. Would definitely stay here again.

We have just completed a cosmos tour and this was our hotel for the first two nights and as we had booked an extra two nights this was the hotel at the end. Please note: this review is of no reflection on cosmos as the tour it self was the best tour we have ever been on, this review is solely for this hotel. on arrival the baggage staff chuck your bags round with out a care in the world luckily for me I didn't have my laptop in my main bag or it would turn up in the room in a million bits, oh yeah when it arrives at your room as there attitude is when ever is good enough and after a 14 hour trip to get here you want your things. The front check in desk is at another level of rude ask a question they look so far down there nose they probably don't even know where the end of it is! when we arrived our room was wrong as we requested a room with single beds and the snotty check in person was like 'and what do you want me to do about it' not until our tour guide got involved they weren't going to sort it. word of warning if you use the revolving door make sure the door man doesn't follow you in as if you go through at a normal pace he will just push you through and give you a dirty look. breakfast was the worst breakfast we have had all trip, all the hot food was cold and coffee was empty and we asked if there was anymore and you get 'no' that's it no sorry just 'no' what planet do these people live on!

Place is old, charges for everything you can think of, bkfast, internet, even to have a fridge in ur room, carpet is old and stained, bathroom products are great on the other hand. But paying 200 to 300 a night. Trust me, something like the W or westin is waaaaay much worth your time and peace of mind.

A wonderful hotel, interior decoration of time. Very comfortable rooms and good service.
