Spent 3 night here and this hotel is immaculate, great decor and service. Lovely room. Was undergoing some work on the outside during our visit and was covered in scaffolding but this didn't spoil the view or our stay. Excellent location and the early evening wine and gentle jazz session in reception for guests every day is a lovely touch.

Excellent location, within a stone's throw of Union Square and a block from a cable car turning station. The Hotel is clean and modern in the fashionable boutique style with modish decor and a relaxed feel. The staff were all friendly and can offer helpful tips on navigating and how to get the best from the lovely city of San Francisco. Our room was small but the bed was very comfortable and the bathroom was spacious with upgraded fixtures and fittings. We enjoyed a very pleasant 4 nights at the Hotel Union Square in April this year when visiting from the UK and would recommend this Hotel to family and friends.

The location is great — right at the centre of the things. But rooms are too small, and with hardly any ventilation — almost claustrophobic. Good value for money though.

Very difficult to get a restful night sleep here. Between the constant traffic, cable cars, mentally deranged screaming all night and the lack of air conditioning in the room when it got up to 85°. The staff was great and as accommodating as they could be. Fun happy hour in the lobby with a live guitarist. It is conveniently located within walking distance of Chinatown and a bunch of the downtown sites. It may have been different if this was a vacation only, but I was here in business.

Stayed at Hotel Union Square on a last minute trip to San Francisco. Wow. Smallest hotel room I have ever seen in my life. The bathroom was extremely uncomfortable and small. There were long back hairs in the bed. I don't know how to describe it, just lots of really weird thing going on for the pretty hefty price. Lots of bums sleeping on the street when we arrived late but the area is completely transformed by day into a lively place.

Good location but that’s it. They charge a fee of 30 dollars per day on top of the room rate (for amenities… but it was not even possible to borrow an adapter). Bed is too small for 2 people. Worst is the temperature situation in the room. The heating is controlled centrally and cannot be turned off individually in the room. It is also not possible to open the window (which is by the way extremely dirty) and the air conditioning is way too loud. For the price I would expect more.

Loved staying in Hotel Union Square. The area was busy, so there was so much to do. The staff was amazing, and wine time was my favorite! The musician was so sweet and nice. It’s a little noisy outside since our window was facing Powell street, but honestly it didn’t bother us. I loved this place for the price. Highly recommend!

I’m just in a good mood! I stayed her and was then happy with my stay. I stayed with my fiancé on a Sunday night. We Checked in our bags the next morning after check out and went the pier for a walk.

Way too small for the price. They trick you online, you have to pay an extra 20 dollars a night for "facilities" though the hallways smell like piss. Parking is very expensive as well. Staff was a bit unfriendly as well. My wife thought the room was cute though, and was happy the had a hair dryer, hence the two stars. Location is nice though.

Excellent choice at a good price, small rooms but very nice and clean. Very good location near the financial district, boutiques, restaurants and the subway one block away. Very good service. There is no parking but on one side there is one.

Rooms are small but beds are nice and it’s close to everything in union square. However I will not stay here again. I extended my checkout till 5pm for a conference I was at, paid the extra $50 checked out at 5pm then next morning received a bill for 2 nights when I only stayed one and they try arguing with me that I stayed two when I clearly did not. After all that the lady said “I have a line give me 30 minutes and hung up” without getting my number. I didn’t want to wait I want to know why I am being charged for another room when I clearly did not stay there for 2 nights.

Parking was a nightmare! To get to the hotel you have to turn left onto a street marked for taxis and trolley only then they have you park in the tow away zone for 20-30 mins while their valet driver makes their way to the hotel. The stay itself was fine, the rooms are nothing fancy and the lack of power outlets was frustrating. Their concierge was the saving grace and the reason for the third star. He was so helpful and personable that it made up for the receptionist who assured us that if our car got a ticket or got towed that the hotel would pay for it.

My wife and I absolutely loved our stay here. The location was great for the trolley and BART. The best thing about this place was the concierge, Jewel. He was beyond helpful with recommendations for meals and attractions. He even made reservations for dinners and cab rides which wasn't necessary, but very appreciative. Next time I am in San Fran I will definitely be staying here.

Great place and position if you want to visit San Francisco, nice staff.
Me and my wife were on honey moon. The best thing in to the hotel is absolutely Jewel! He organized for us the cycle-trip to Sausalito, the transfer to the airport and the reservation at the restaurant our last night… gentle and very professional. Anyway, Jewel is what every hotel should have!

We were able to check in earlier than the 3pm check in lucky. The hotel was easy to get to after we had breakfast at a place on up on California and after a walk around Chinatown. The bed is a bit firm for my liking but the pillows were so comfortable. I had a small room but it was neat and clean.

The hotel overall is a nice location and basic amenities. But it is located on a busy street with a ton of noise in the wee hours of the morning. Without any AC, the only way to keep the room cool is open windows. If you need a good nights rest, request a room away from the road.

For $450 you will have a tiny room and not air-conditioned. For Bobo a little pigeon only.

Pretty decent hotel. Had issues with my first room, but was able to switch to a different one. Purchased the breakfast package with the restaurant next door, but it wasn't explained to me that there were certain hour restrictions.

Nice boutique hotel. We stayed in the penthouse and it has a nice balcony. Staff is nice and hotel is central location.

This place never fails to deliver. They do their best to give you their best room, have a good wine selection for evening wine time, and I can now say that I have stayed in their best room with a great skyline view of the city. The staff is insanely helpful and the renovations have brightened up the place significantly. I would recommend anyone stay here because it's just a great experience.

One of the best hotels I've ever stayed in. Has very good Wi-Fi. Hotel is very stylish both on the inside and the outside. Service is really nice. Can get a great view of downtown San Francisco.

Older classic SF hotel. Small simple room with an in window a/c. Phenomenally thin walls to give you and your neighbors a real sense of closeness. No breakfast. Sporty $15/night fee to use internet and traipse to the Hotel Diva's gym. Objectively, my rating might be lower, but I'm kind of low maintenance, like a bit of grit, and tired of big corporate hotels. You'll remember your stay here, and that is worth +two stars!

Very small and uncomfortable rooms and an inexplicable charge on the credit card at check out.

The square is surrounded by the best shops in the city. Not to be missed.

The perfect downtown experience. It's so happening you just feel good to be their. From high end stores to Street hawkers, it has all of it. Must go to Cheesecake Factory for the Perfect view and yummy food.

Lots of great shopping in the area. Love the Christmas Tree during the holidays!

Although it is a must-see if you're going to San Francisco, if the square has nothing, I expected a larger square. That Yes, you'll be close to many shops.

Downtown San Francisco. Many shops and malls around. It has a parking lot below.

Go check out the Christmas tree right now and stop by Macys.

Not much to see. Large Christmas tree around the holidays.

Some are expensive, but all together worth going here.

Unfortunately, that are chic, modern rooms a little in the years come.
