Hotel was clean and centrally located. The room was paid in full online and already included close to $80 in fees and taxes. Upon arriving at the hotel, I was charged 2 additional fees+more taxes (around $35 additional). Overall the price of this room ended up being over $100 more than the advertised nightly rate and the room was very warm and didn't have a working ac. Nothing wrong with the hotel itself but would have really appreciated being more upfront about price. Would have stayed elsewhere.

This hotel is fabulous. Great location and nice rooms. The staff was very helpful and Mary the bartender made our family's stay a delight. Complimentary apples and chilled water at the front desk was also greatly appreciated. I will definitely stay again.

Daniel is the Concierge and he is amazing! He really makes this hotel. He gave us an upgrade to a suite and helped us plan our itinerary, carried our suitcases to our room and gave us tips and advice on getting around. The hotel room was spacious because it was a suite. The hotel did have an odd smell throughout the building and they could use a large sign out front to help find the hotel. 4 stars because of Daniel. Otherwise, I would give it 3.

Stayed for a few days while staying in San Francisco and I really enjoyed my stay here. The hotel clerks are friendly, attentive and informative and the location is prime. It's near by many shopping places and even a mall just a few blocks down the road. If you are from another large major city like me, you may not care so much for the shops in the area but places to see and eat are mostly within walking distance or a short cab ride away!

Villa Florence is in a great accessible location in Union Square. I used the hotel for sleeping and showering during my stay. The bar staff were very nice and helpful. The front desk are not. The women were okay if you asked for assistance. The male front desk staff were rude and unhelpful. The concierge should be promoted and or replace one of the male front desk staff. He was very personable and helpful! Hint to Colin: When dealing with the public and your job is to accommodate the guest of your establishment it is never okay to hang up or be abrupt because you are having a bad day.

The rooms are very "boutique"/European. What that really means is the rooms are small. The rooms are clean enough (but not clean-clean) and beds comfortable enough (but not comfortable-comfortable). The bar staff down stairs are excellent. Front desk staff are expert at ignoring anyone who isn't in line for service and are generally rude and inept when you are receiving service. The door man/bell staff are warm and welcoming. The location is very central, but this leads to a horrible check-in if you have a car. There is zero parking. There are exactly two spaces to pull in to on their side of the street (a police officer tells me any stopping is illegal), which has trolleys going both ways. We had to circle 4 times (at least 30 minutes due to the heavy traffic in the area) before a space opened up across the street (3 spaces there), then after check-in, I had to make an (illegal, I think) u turn so the bell staff could unload the car. The parking/lack thereof is why I'll likely never stay here again. Valet is $59. Update: They'll tell you you can late checkout, but when you actually request late checkout they tell you you can't, the hotel is full. If you press them further they'll tell you they can accommodate a late checkout, but it'll cost. A half day charge to checkout 2 hours later than normal. Frankly, I don't care about the cost, I care about the misdirection, and the extortion. Update 2: several hidden charges and bs "fees". Do yourself a favor; don't stay here!

The room was fantastic… minus the musty smelling coffee pot. In regards to the service, Daniel the daytime front desk staff members was extremely difficult to deal with. I stayed at this hotel for a work trip and it was to be charged to the card that It was booked with by the company. Of course I put my card for incidentals and was told I would only have a 100 dollar charge and it would be released the next day. WRONG according to Daniel, “every hotel I. The world charges the card used for incidentals” and they therefore charged the full room on my credit card. Daniel was extremely unprofessional and I don’t suggest staying at this hotel for business.

The best thing about the hotel that is very central and in good area. They have the detail of putting apples in the front desk and coffee in the mornings. Very nice and very good service. Worth.

First the positive: the staff is anxious, the foyer is nice, the bar and the kitchen are really good. The location is great. But: the room was a impudence! The window in the bathroom was so warped that you couldn't close it. The window in the room could be closed but leaked. The air conditioner has felt 300dB. It's impossible to sleep next to it. The Kastentür is on the bed, which means that the shops can only be pushed half-way. And for that, 300 euros per night was required. That's just way too much! The location has its price, but the rooms should also be halfway to the price level.

We've stayed at Villa Florence a few times in the past, great location, great staff, but our last visit at Thanksgiving 2017 will be our last. The hotel is an old renovated hotel with small rooms, no surprise and they've been very clean, but the "feel" of the place has changed, especially the lobby that's more like an ice cream parlor than the warm feel it used to have. I suppose it may work for the "hip" crowd but I'm not their demographic anymore. Lot's of old hotels around Union Square so we'll try a different one next time.

Very tasty and varied, inexpensive breakfast, which is unfortunately not included in the room rate. It's not that typical of America in general. Comfortable room with safe, ironing board and iron. Very nice reception. The price per night does not completely explain to me why also 4 stars. For my feeling this was a bit too expensive. $165/night. However, it is still cheaper than the surrounding 4Sternhotels.

This is right in the middle of a popular area in San Francisco with easy access to stores, restaurants, and multiple public transit lines. It is about a 20 minute drive or hour long ride on the BART from the airport. But being in the middle of this area also means you will have to be okay with the vast amount of homeless people. They did not bother me or my fiance for the most part, but some of them will follow you for a little bit continually asking for money. The room itself was very nice and quiet (I took a room on the inside of the building). Bathroom was nice but small. Shower head was a good height (I'm 6' tall so I usually have to bend down during showers to wash my hair, face, etc). The soaps provided were also nicer than most other hotels I've stayed at in similar price ranges in big cities. The AC/Heat unit did not work that well. It seemed like it basically was working just as a fan blowing air. The filters probably need a change. There's plenty of outlets in the room and a nice desk area. The TV was a nice, big Samsung. But a hotel lineup of channels so not too much to watch. Overall the hotel was very nice and the staff was courteous during all our interactions.

Overall, I enjoyed my stay. Was this a 4 star hotel good? No. Its good for a 3 star hotel, but its not 4 star standards. The staff was absolutely lovely and they tried their best to help me with anything that went wrong. For example, the first room we were in had an overwhelming air freshener smell and I couldn't tolerate it and they were so kind to move me to a different room until I found one that didn't smell at all. At 10pm our toilet clogged and when we called down we were informed there was no maintenance guy on duty after working hours but the clerk tried their best to help us by at least finding us a plunger even though he wasn't the one who normally dealt with that. The room was clean enough but there were some open food packages and the pillows seemed a bit dusty. The problem was for a 4 star hotel you really expect luxury (things like a concierge, room service, 24 hour maintenance requests), close to spotless… but the hotel amenities were the bare minimum. I feel like the price I paid was comparable to 3 star hotels in the area so I would definitely stay here again if I was looking for a 3 star hotel because the staff was great, but this trip I did want something a bit more luxury which is why I booked a 4 star, so I was disappointed with my overall experience.

They have completely done away with their beautiful lobby and connected Italian restaurant. Instead you can't tell where to enter the hotel, The design is Modern with a 20 foot flamingos neat the front desk. My room was just okay. I've stayed here many times over the years but will never spend the $$$ to stay there again.

This was the perfect hotel for me, my mom, and my sister! The decor is chic and comfortable. The staff is incredibly friendly and helpful. The location absolutely cannot be beat. It's central to literally everything. We were able to walk and bike to Pier 39, Baker Beach, the Golden Gate Bridge, and more! Joanna who worked the front desk was so kind and had excellent recommendations. Villa Florence hotel made our San Francisco experience complete! We will definitely be back!

My sister and I stayed there over Thanksgiving weekend. She was a repeat guest and enjoyed her last stay a few years ago. Unfortunately, the hotel had changed. The lobby was almost non existent, there was no restaurant, and the decor went from warm and Tuscan to modern and cold. In addition, they were renovating the hotel and my sister was not informed when she made the reservation. My biggest complaint was that the hotel would not provide me with an umbrella on a day it was pouring down rain. You could temporarily use a hotel umbrella or be charged $20. I had to walk to Bart when I was leaving and was told to pay the $20 or buy an umbrella down the street. I've worked in hospitality for over 30 years. This was extremely rude and inhospitable.

If anyone is looking for a great deal on hotels you can check it out on HotelRaven. Com Booked a room on there and they had the best rates around… Chic lobby and rooms are a juxtaposition of abstract decor and aged infrastructure. Halls smell a little musty, and the air conditioning/heater is locked behind a metal cage and requires a remote control that often doesn't work properly. Location is great and walking distance from a lot of great places. This is a middle of the road hotel but the staff are very friendly.

I detest places with hidden fees that you don't find out about until you get there and have no choice. They charge a $25 per day "activity fee", which they refused to waive. The person at the desk said it was for "the Wi-Fi and water and stuff". It became clear that this is simply a case of lying about the room price when the fee was simply added to the room charge on the checkout bill, resulting in a per-day room fee quite a bit higher than advertised. The rooms are pretty small and badly needs updating. Sound proofing was not good, so not good for light sleepers. Cleanliness was OK. As of early October 2017, one of the two elevators was out of service for updating, so waits were long… I just walked the stairs, which wasn't a big deal depending on the floor you're on.

Very noisy location. Insist on an interior room if you stay here. For $425 a night, which was the rate due to fleet week, you'd expect something more than single pane windows. Nice to have soap and shampoo dispensers in the bathroom but they didn't work well and it took several pumps to even get a tiny bit of soap out. Rooms are small. Also hallway noise easily heard in room. Can not recommend staying here.

This is my pick of where to stay in Union Square. Wonderfully decorated, great location and good price point. Granted, you probably won't be spending too much time in your room given that you're in Union Square, but you'll be perfectly comfortable if you do.

Modern (under additional renovations at the moment), but a little small. Room had no desk, but was comfortable and we'll equipped. Make sure to bring your own snacks, the $20 minibar snacks are very tempting late at night.

I really like this hotel. I like the classic San Francisco building with the modern decor. Plus, the staff is super nice. The hotel is currently under construction, but that did not disrupt my stay. Plus, it looks like the changes will be really nice once complete.

I recently stayed at the Villa Florence during a student organized university trip for my dance team. The location was exceptional and the staff at this hotel was extremely accommodating and enjoyable. Unfortunately, we were left with a very sour taste in our mouth because upon checking out at 3am we discovered an array of hidden costs that we were never informed about at any point during our stay. After all was said and done, we were forced to pay close to $700 CAD of hidden charges, which they did not explain why at all. The various charges included an obscure ‘resort fee, ’ various taxes and expenses that apparently are “out of their control. ” Luckily we had an emergency credit card, however now we are left with this outrageous charge scrambling to pay it, which as a group of university students, we are struggling to handle. I am appalled that they took advantage of a young group of girls and didn’t bother to inform us of these impending charges at any point, because had we known that this was the case, we absolutely would have chosen an alternate hotel to stay at. I strongly recommend avoiding this hotel at all costs, because you will likely get dinged with these absurd fees without any warning or justification. I have also noted that there are multiple other reviews reporting this suspicious behaviour as well. It is highly unfortunate that this was the outcome, because we did enjoy the staff and location during our stay here.

This was a great hotel experience. The building is cute and personal. The only problem was low water pressure in the shower.

The location was amazing. Right on the thick of it all on Powell. The room we stayed in was pretty small. The bed took up half of the area. The staff was nice though and the rooms were clean. Nice hotel.

Check in and out was super fast. We were even allowed to check in a little early which was very nice considering we had a long flight. The building is your typical older building however, it's been renovated and looks very nice. Great location with pleasant and helpful staff. The only negative thing I have to say is the room scent was awful. The scent almost smelt like pet urine but after running the fan for a few hours the smell seemed to die down. Other than that everything else was great.

Really enjoyed our stay here. The room was small, as was the bed (full rather than queen), but it was the only room available for an affordable price and what do you expect in the downtown of a major US city. The room and bathroom was very nicely laid out and decorated, the room was very quiet (ours faced the courtyard and was away from street noise). The AC worked well and was quiet, the bed was comfortable, and the room has a HUGE plasma TV that nearly took up an entire wall. Some parts of the room were tired and needed upgrading (e. G, the grout was missing between tiles in the bathroom) but the charm of the décor far outweighed the few details that could use some help. I have traveled all over the country on business, usually staying at nicer mid-grade hotels like the Hampton Inn, and this place was one of the nicer places that I have stayed at. Mind you, parking is not included, and bottles of water are offered in the room at $7 each, so be prepared to pay for parking and definitely bring your own water! The staff were very friendly and professional. Would definitely stay here again.

Everything goes fine except it truly hard to find gate. Ps: the reception has impressing Beard, I love that! hahahhahaah.

Unbelievably small. No Wi-Fi signal in my room, called front desk saying I have to contact the Internet service line myself. So spent 20 mins talking in the phone without getting the problem solved. Ended up buying new SIM card for phone. Only creditable thing is friendly staff in general, and the location of course since you pay more for staying downtown. And parking is $70 per day for your reference.

Ridiculous price during JP Morgan Would eat Breakfast and Dinner there anytime. For $700 would expect much nicer rooms.

The place was like going back home to grandmas house and enjoying the hospitality wonderful old Scottish mother. This hotel has definitely grabbed the H in Hotel. Five stars easily if you had a higher rating it would be at the top of that rating. This place is very clean the staff are nice and professional. The concierge are your stereo typical and well versed in everything that goes on around there Hotel. I would also give it on top of it's five stars.

I really enjoyed my stay at villa. Everything was was clean and room service was fast and delicious! The concierge, Daniel was welcoming since it was my first time in California. He also signed me up for the airport shuttle so I can make it to my flight home safe and on time. I will be going back soon.

I was here for a conference and it was a great hotel to stay in Union Square. It was within walking distance to many shops, restaurants and even to my conference. I was impressed with the friendly atmosphere of this hotel. I like the interior design of the rooms and it made me felt like royalty. I like the lavender scented shampoo/conditioner/bodywash that was provided. The floors were squeaky — so it was a bit wierd to walk with the floors creaking. The rooms were spacious and clean. The television size was great. The stocked beverages in the fridge was nice and the refreshments were convient if you wanted to have an overpriced snack. The BIGGEST disappointment was that came home find out I was charged an administration fee of $20 + 2.80 tax? really? I don't really know what the administration fee was for and why they never mentioned it when I checked in. Kinda of Wierd! As if we weren't already charged enough fees in SF.

I stayed at Villa Florence a few years ago however I enjoyed the experience. The hotel is located just a block from Union Square on the lively Powell street. The location can't be beat if you are in town to explore the sights. Do note that because Villa Florence is on 2 busy streets, there is a lot of street noise and activity which may not work for light sleepers. The room was decent sized and very clean. The bed was large and very comfortable. Although I didn't spend much time in the room, I certainly enjoyed the hotels experience and location.

This is more like a motel that just happens to have one of the best locations in San Francisco. They know people will stay regardless, so they don't update the rooms. I had to upgrade $35 just to get a tub. The staff was horrible! And don't get me started on the parking situation. They park your cars 8 blocks away at the JW Marriot. I forgot my camera in the car and they told me it could take hours to pull up my car and to just walk to it. Then of course they lost our parking ticket. Make sure you give yourself PLENTY of time before and after your stay to drop off/pick up your car. Because this place is a mess.

Nice hotel, well decorated, helpful staff. Both rooms I stayed in were well laid out. Not enormous, but big enough. The included breakfast is not particularly great, just a muffin and some juice at the cafe downstairs. I would be happy to stay there again though.

DRT service is very good and the staff are very nice. Although relatively small but nicely decorated rooms! The location is very good, because it is in the middle of the city.

San Francisco very well located hotel. Close to many restaurants, shops and the famous tourist tram. Very good, clean and comfortable rooms. With good amenities in the bathroom. Very nice reception service. Very good quality/price ratio to be USA.

The service is at the point and the atmosphere of the rooms very hushed me a lot more. Located in front of a Lush store in addition!
