Awesome atmosphere. Great bartenders. Allowed us to take after wedding pictures in the bar. Amazing bloody Mary's.

Service was amazing at the pub downstairs! It’s rare you walk into a local and not only is it clean but welcoming and full of culture. Next time we are in town we will definitely be here! Thanks Dita.

I’ve stayed there twice. The old creepy man at the front desk was always drunk when I checked in and stared at me and my partner very creepily. The second time the room was extremely hot because of no air conditioning at all which they advertised. I knew what I was getting into when renting the rooms because I needed the convenience but just wanted to let others know. I will never stay there again just because of that creepy old drunk man. I liked the hotel and bar, just not him.

The Alaskan Bar isn’t want it used to be. Charging for events that used to be free in the past. The majority of the Bartenders are terrible. The decline in patrons means the bar closes whenever it feels like it. I can’t count the times I would come downtown 10-11 and the bar would be completely shut down. I miss The Alaskan.

Thursday night open mic nights. You can get a drink anywhere, but open mic would be the main attraction. They should have it on Friday, or Saturdays as well.

Rooms were clean but in need of updating. Fourth floor rooms get hot — would be nice to have a fan! Great location downtown and good value.

A great place to stay. Some say music from the bar can be a problem but I requested a quiet room and had no problems. I would stay again.

I had fun with friends at the bar on a Saturday night. Bar was packed, but the tender was prompt and friendly like usual. Wish I knew her name so I could say thanks!

The staff here is so friendly and helpful! Great hospitality. Just wish the walls were a little thicker, but what can ya do. It’s an old building with a lot of history! Love it.

Awesome Victorian hotel right in the heart of downtown Juneau. All original building attached to a bar with the same type of feel. Have you ever visited a museum and said to yourself, "I wish I could live here"? This is your chance to do just that. Now, it is an old, mostly original, hotel. That means, if you want a modern hotel experience (TV, large rooms, spa, gym, etc. ) This may not be the place for you. But would I recommend it? Yes. Notables: Only has common area restrooms and bathing facilities. Mattresses are not super comfortable. Walls are a little thin.

Old Hotel. Rooms are not the best but still for the money they're worth it. Oh the bathroom is shared for most rooms I guess. Also, they have very hip walls in the room with old advertisements. I liked it. Right in the middle of the downtown with it's own awesome bar. Can't go wrong. And yes, apparently it's haunted, atleast that's what the server told me. So yeah, stay at your own risk ;)

The room was very hot and there was no account. Other than that it was a quick simple check in.

It was a good place to stay overall… the bar below the hotel has great old country style atmosphere with good selection of beer. I see other ppl posted the photos of the place which exactly like the actual place… one thing I didn’t like about was the bathroom… you need to use shared bathroom… other than that this place is good to stay.

Make sure your room has a bathroom thats all I gotta say. Old hotel and grundgy and you gotta worry about getting your vehicle riffles thru by the many drinken bums that "live" nearby. Hopefully you get a front desk person that knows english.

Can't speak for the hotel, but the bar is has a delightfully worn 'old saloon' vibe. It's cozy and dark, they've got a good selection of drinks, and has a great barkeeping staff.

The stomping started like thunder. Then came the shouts and screams and the twinkling twangs of musical instruments. Amongst this aural onslaught the prospect of sleep fades like mountains into the mist, replaced by the throbbing reality of your new outsized headache. You'll feel it all here, a great outgushing of sound that resonates through the wafer thin walls and drowns out the staff's laughable claims of imposing law and order. A man's cough is heard four doors down. The flush of a toilet in another. These aren't rooms so much as shabby cubby holes with hinges. So if you seek shelter keep on walking, this is a place that only fosters storms. However if you seek 3 A. M. Hallway hoedowns, back breaking beds, busted tvs, cigarette scented air, and cant-be-bothered employees then by all means roll the dice on your sanity and book a room. Just don't be surprised when you come out thinking that the wild frontier ain't all its cracked up to be.

The hotel feels and looks on the older side, bed was comfortable the room still had cups from previous people in it which gave it a dirty feel, the bar can be clearly heard through the floor, the help was nice enough tho and generally friendly, very little parking near by and make sure you do some research on where to get breakfest, remember you get what you pay for, I would recommend this place for a night or 2 not for a week, I stayed in rm 222

Alaskan was quirky and has a lot of character. Room 311 has its own kitchenette, toilet and shower. It has a nice loft too! Bed was a bit soft. Loft bed was better. There is a weird hidey hole next to the shower.

For 80 a night you can not beat this. It has a great location (within walking distance of everything) customer service was PHENOMENAL! the front desk woman Jenny was so helpful and nice. She was outgoing, bubbly and just great. Told us everything to see and do and where the locals go. The rooms are nice clean and a reasonable size. Our room has views of mountains and waterfalls as well as the downtown scenery. Overall we enjoyed our stay.

I love the Alaskan Hotel. It is one of my favorite places I've ever stayed at. But I must admit, my ideal hotel is one that's right downtown, sitting on top of a great bar, 100 years old, has good beds, is affordable, and has a bathroom down the hall. The Alaskan Hotel has got all this and more! (Although you can splurge and get a room with private bath for $10 more). I've stayed in 4 different rooms here, and each one was unique in their shape, configuration and furniture. The staff were all kind and sweet to me, but then I really don't ask for much. I can't wait to go back again!

Staff could not have been less helpful. Both times we approached the counter two different staff members were sitting on the computer or on the phone and ignored us until we said something. When I "checked in" the girl couldn't even be bothered to tell me where my room was, she literally just handed me a key. No other information was offered. The room itself was fairly nice except there was no door on the bathroom. We could hear staff right outside our door talking very loudly on the phone (sounded like a personal call) for a couple hours. Shower handle was broken also. Really wanted to like this place, it's such a cool building and seems to have great history. It's a shame that it seems poorly run and has such careless and unconcerned staff.

Worst hotel Ever! No heaters, no parking, lousy maintenence, lace curtains with no shades, 1 bathroom and 1shower shared between many rooms. Not worth the money, stay anywhere else what a disappointment.

Great live music at the bar.

They have mice. The electricity is not up to code. Room almost caught fire just from a fan being plugged in. Half the security cameras don't work, so if something gets stolen, they won't catch it. Drunks come up to the rooms, knocking on doors while you're sleeping. If there's a fight, they threaten to kick out, regardless of who started it. Only care about money, not people. Also will go around town telling people about you, nothing is private if you stay there. Despite no smoking rule, people obviously break it, as you can smell it through the hallway.

Tamara sucks as a bartender. But overall pretty cool dive-y bar.

It's right in downtown Juneau, pretty centrally located to all the restaurants and shopping. Our Bartender was Naomi and we loved her, she was attentive and kind.

I'll be honest, the hotel wasn't the greatest. But I stayed there because it was cheap, not because I was expecting the Ritz. It's not a clean or glamorous hotel by any means. Not all rooms have their own bathroom. I basically needed a place to store my bags, and sleep. The worst part is that even though it's a smoke-free hotel, people were definitely smoking in their rooms. It seeped into the hallways, and into my room. Also, even though I stayed there in the off-season, the shower didn't have hot water in the late morning. The hotel on its own would get 2 stars and that's mostly because of how cheap it was to stay there. The redeeming factor is the bar. Great prices, and the bartender was really friendly. The bar has an old look and feel that just made it very unique.

Although all the stairs really were the worst I can truly say that there are no better people than those at the alaskan they surpassed our needs and met them before we asked.
