It's good for one night or two only shower and sleeping. Don't expect luxury amenities here. The TV service is satellite and when its raining there's NO tv. It's clean and nice and walking distance of shops, restaurants and attractions. The staff is super nice and willing to assist you right away.

I can't make a positive judgement. We arrived in the room and the room temperature was Arctic and you could not lower it as it was general for all rooms.

Really positive were the receptionist who welcomed us and the central location in the old town. But nothing else.

DO NOT STAY AT THIS HOTEL! This hotel is a filthy dump! We prepaid for our room on Expedia & when we arrived the entire hotel did not have running water nor would any of the toilets flush. We waited for 2 hours for them to resolve the problem. Once it became apparent that they would not be fixing the issue that day we asked to check out & get our money back so we could go to a hotel that had running water & toilets. The front desk worker told us that he was not authorized to refund our room since we pre-paid & that the manager would be in the next day. I contacted Expedia immediately of the situation & they called the hotel to try & get us out of the reservation. The front desk worker then LIED to Expedia & said that there was no issue with the water or toilets & that no one had been to the desk to complain. That’s a bold lie because there were about 8 other guests lined up at the desk with me complaining. So I handed the worker our keys & said we were going elsewhere that was safe to stay. I asked him why he lied to Expedia & he then lied to me about lying to them. After 8 days on attempting to contact the hotel Expedia has finally received a response from the hotel management saying that they would NOT be giving any refunds. They actually expect their guests who booked with them to stay overnight in their hotel with water dripping from the ceilings, no running water & backed up sewage.

No control of A/C. Showerhead missing core. Not cheap. Building is rotting because of leaky roof (bubbling paint everywhere). Would have rather picked Rincon but was booked full.

The staff was fabulous at this older hotel in old San Juan. Although everything is very dated it was comfortable and cool. It was with the locals away from tourist in the high-rises.

A very nice place to stay at. Very comfortable. A good alternative to a hotel.

To be fair I was set to stay at the hotel during hurricane Irma but wasn't able to because of power generator issues. Instead, they placed me in a nice little apartment a couple of blocks away. The apartment was clean and very basic. Had what I needed including a kitchen which was nice.

Clean & small. Nothing but the bare necessities. Hot water doesn't last very long.

Amazing location that gives you easy access to Viejo San Juan at an affordable rate.

Aweful! I booked through my Amex for a suite for 4 people. I had the confirmation with that info including number of guests. I called ahead a few days earlier as my family and I would arrive late. After searching they found and confirmed my reservation. Upon arrival I paid in full for both nights and did not complain even though the hotel looks nothing like its pictures. Looks like a nasty tenement in a ghetto. We go to the room and it is a tiny space that barely fits one bed! Incidentally looked horrible also. Complained and they told me give second room free but would have to move next day. I am traveling with 8 and 11 year old needed to be together. I would not have written this review if it were not for the surprise that happened next… They would only refund one night! They had completely misled Amex, myself and wouldn't even refund. Amazing. Don't go here ever, you would be better off to sleep on the cobble stone streets which are much more quaint and clean. Lann Rubin II Wappingers falls NY.

I arrived in San Juan at 3am with nowhere to stay. After calling several hotels in search of a room, S. J. Suites offered a great deal and said they could accommodate my last-minute request. Once I arrived, I was blown away by the exceptional service provided by the night manager. He offered great recommendations for breakfast and sightseeing and did not bat an eye at my late arrival. The next day, the daytime staff proved equally kind and accommodating and the hotel's fantastic location enabled me to explore the heart of San Juan.

I spent two nights, April 7 and 8, 2016. On the second morning there was no water to shower. Like everything else in Puerto Rico, you don't get your money worth in this hotel, they provide the bare minimum, not even a plastic cup in the room.

Was unable to travel to Puerto Rico due to Zika virus and pregnancy. We had a doctor note. EVERYONE, including airlines other hotels and excursions in Puerto Rico refunded our money 100%. Unfortunately, we had booked our first and last night of our trip here. Manager and owner were completely unhelpful, do not recommend at all. We were charged for two nights and not given a refund even after communicating with them a month in advance about the change of plans.

I was charged for nights I did not stay at this hotel. Do NOT give them your credit card number. Avoid! These are the biggest scam artists in San Juan.

If you are looking to save money, stay in a hostel or air B&B — this place is not worth the in — between of luxury and affordability. I'll start with the fact that I decided to stay here because of the key point of "comfortability" advertised, the location and it was much cheaper than surrounding hotels. The ONLY thing I liked about this hotel was the location. I made a list of reasons not to stay here to make the read easier — anyone considering staying here should consider the following before booking. NOISY! I couldn't sleep well — — The hotel is not sound proof, you can hear people and their TVs very clearly from other rooms. The pipes screeched LOUD and often when other guests would use water. A couple we met stayed by the elevator and they had an even worse noise experience! UNCOMFORTABLE! I stayed in a king suit, the bed and linens were not comfortable, they were comparable to a cheap beach hotel or a hostel. There was a THICK PLASTIC LINING OVER THE MATTRESS, it crinkled when we would move and it was probably the most uncomfortable thing about the bed. NO WINDOWS! Only a few of the rooms have windows, if this is important to you, request a room with a window before you book. NO CLOCK! It was bad enough that I didn't have a window to judge the time of day and help me wake up naturally but I didn't even have a clock. CLEANLINESS — As far as cleanliness which is SO important, it seemed pretty clean overall but there was a big gross looking stain on the carpet.

Definitely not suites! Not sure why they named it SJ Suites. Totally misleading. The rooms are quite ugly, covers dirty, no phone, no "do not disturb" sign. Our room was cleaned at like 4 pm. Also, we were lucky to have a window, most rooms don't. Location, however, is great. Besides the location, no other pros. Totally overpaid.

I really liked. We were a group for a concert and then enjoyed a lot of old san juan. The hotel is in a tremendous location, rooms clean and not tell them super attentive and very friendly staff. Improve the system of air conditioning.

SJ Suites is a no frills, utterly unremarkable place to stay in a great location in Old San Juan. Our room was clean, the staff were helpful and it allowed us to stay two nights in OSJ relatively cheaply.

SCARY! This hotel is like walking into a horror movie, the entrance stinks and the hallways do too. The room is clean and the bathroom is clean. Great for a budget stay.
