Toojou isn’t your average place to stay — it’s part boutique hotel, part creative hub, and part social hangout.

Every time I come to Sabah, Toojou is always my place to stay.

Very good location, within walking distance to Suria Sabah. However, the soundproofing is on the weaker side, as you may hear doors opening and closing, as well as footsteps from outside.

Loved my time staying at Jiran Hostel. Rooms were incredibly clean and well kept with good ventilation. I especially loved how there were toilets reserved for females.

Surprised with how clean and comfortable the Dorm Rooms were. Checked in 29/03/2026. RM35.00 per Pax, surprisingly affordable and convenient for people who are having events at Padang Merdeka.

Located at the middle of the city centre. One good thing is that the reception here is 24 hours. The staff here are pleasant which makes me feel safe and comfortable here.

I booked a bed in the female dorm and I was the only person staying for the night. The hotel in general is very quiet and only a few rooms were booked.

Awesome hostel! Clean facilities with everything you need (towel, hair dryer, bunk curtains, small locker).

Had an amazing time with Jeanie and her family, they made us feel at home instantly and our children loved playing with little Jordan their grandchild!

A homely kampung style stay at Ranau after spending a day at the hot springs. Nearby to the park and awesome host!

Affordable, clean, and a pleasant, spacious common area. A great starting point for daily sea excursions.

Fine for one night as a stopover before heading to the islands. Convenient location although did not feel safe to walk around at night. Good value overall.

Everything was good for my short stay here. I’ve stayed at their hotel in Gaya Street before but I decided to try at their hostel also. This hostel was clean, comfortable, and had a nice atmosphere.

Don’t judge a book by its cover! This budget hostel is actually very safe, clean, and comfortable inside. I’ve stayed here several times, and the cleanliness is always maintained.

I had a private double for a couple of nights — the room was pretty big, but not much in it apart from the mattress on a raised platform.

Stayed a week, loved it. After 3 months in borneo, this place had the strongest backpacker vibe of any place I'd been on the island, tho it was low season when I was here so not many folks around.

The lady on reception was so helpful and kind and gave us so many great recommendations for places to see and activities.
The room was basic but exactly what we'd paid for for 2 nights.

The pleasures of a well-designed budget hostel far surpasses the luxury of a five-star hotel. What do I mean?
Shared bathrooms. Ugh, right? I don't think so.

Amazing hostel! Kitchen, simple free breakfast, laundry machine, and very clean rooms that don’t feel moldy or stuffy at all. This place is definitely a gem of Kota Kinabalu!

I had a wonderful few days here. The hostel has a great location, with curtains and lockers, and provides a simple breakfast. The staff is very prompt in cleaning.

Brilliant lodge with helpful staff and excellent guides. I stayed for two nights and, despite some rain, managed to join three cruises and did some walking.

Comfy and clean Appartement and the host is amazing! We checked-in late, which wasn’t a problem at all. He waited for us and we were able to choose between two nice Appartements.

Room looks Exactly as advertised. Cozy and super clean. Hotel is situated at the 2nd floor. No check in required, after payment you'll be given the automatic gate password to enter the room.

This place was clean and the beds were comfy. Reception is only 8am-5pm but this wasn’t a problem for us, and they let us check in at 12 which was nice.

It's in the centre of Ranau town. U got plenty of basic amenities there. The place is super clean. Worth the money. Better prepare the exact amount to pay via cash.

Nice clean cosy rooms with attached bathroom, air-conditioned, and with tea and coffee making facilities. Reasonably priced rooms.

Such a great spot to stay while in Kunching. It’s a short Grab ride into the city (very cheap) but also an easy walk to the local mall or a few local restaurants and coffee shops.

Extremely clean place to stay.
It's important to know that not all rooms have windows. We didn't care much as we weren't spending any time in the room apart from sleeping.

Contrary to what the Google Maps listing says, the place is not closed. You can book it from any booking providers or call the owner. Self check in and check out. It's located in China Street.
