Just returned from a stay at Cartier Place. We had 5 people (2 adults and 3 children) in a two bedroom suite. There was plenty of room for all. With the full kitchen we saved a ton of money on food. On the first night there I walked to the grocery store and picked up supplies for the few days. I would highly recommend staying here and will make this my hotel of choice when going to Ottawa.

30$ for a parking! Even if it’s secure, 30$ is too much. We paid a lot for a night without sleep. With two kids, I can’t believe there’s not two beds. I slept on a futon with one of the kids and didn’t sleep because it was so unconfortable. The a/c was so noisy. We had to shut it down to try to sleep. When it’s 30 degrees outside, you need a/c inside… So, finally, the room was very hot. The pool was closed at 7 pm. So, no pool with the kids. We chose this hotel because the pool looked nice so we could have a great time with our kids. The rooms are outdated. We will not return! Very disappointing.

We love this place and will keep coming back. With 4 kids, it's hard to find affordable places to stay in downtown Ottawa. We had a two bedroom suite, with kitchen, walking distance to Parliament Hill! For under $200 a night! It also has a lovely pool with spa, an outdoor playground and a children's play room for the little ones. It's exactly what we needed.

Excellent location, large rooms, decor is a bit dated We stayed here with our three young children on a trip to Ottawa. The hotel is located in a lively area of downtown Ottawa. Some parts of downtown can be a bit dumpy and dodgy, but the Elgin street area has lots of restaurants and pubs. It’s also a short walk to the canal if you’d like to go for a walk in the summer or a skate in the winter. It’s about a 20 walk to the parliament buildings and a 10 minute walk to the Nature Museum. The rooms are excellent for families. We had a two bedroom suite. Having the kitchen means that you can have what you want for breakfast (breakfast isn’t included) and you can buy food to make a pack lunch if you’d like. The decor is dated in the rooms (1980s), but they’re clean and functional. It’s basically a 750 sq ft two bedroom apartment. We’ll definitely be back to stay here!

Disappointing experience, really. As soon as we entered the suite, we were hit by a terrible mouldy smell. Health wise, not very good to breathe in that stuff. We are not sure where it was coming from, but we suspect it was possibly from the ac, or otherwise the carpet. When we notified reception, they offered another suite, but the other room was even worse, so we remained in the first one. We had to spend the night with the balcony window open to keep fresh air coming in (something you would not be able to do on the winter, obviously). As mentioned in other reviews here, the place is like a time warp… To be fair, the suite was generally clean and the space is actually quite good for a large group. Also, the front desk staff was generally helpful. We were to stay for 2 nights, we only stayed for 1. I just wish the room did not have that mouldy smell.

We stayed there one night for a business trip. The suite was nice and clean, but as many here stated the decor and everything else goes back to 80'-90's. It's a downtown location and close to many dining options, which is very convenient. The price overall was acceptable. The big disappointment was due to parking our car in the underground garage for $30 extra… it, along with other 25-30 or more cars parked there that night, was broken into. A window was smashed in each one of them. Clearly, a very serious breach in security that went on for quite some time unnoticed. Car owners got an apology letter! How sweet of the management. Staff helped cleaning the car, which was appreciated of course, but I would think this does not cover my over $600 in damage costs.

I went here for a couple drinks… it was a great experience. I was served by Melissa. She had very quick service and was attentive. The second my drink was finished she asked me if I wanted a second one. She also made sure I had water while I was drinking. I wouldn't normally consider a hotel bar a hot spot, but after visiting this place I am sold!

The moin room of the years 80 cathodic television 20 pushes and the sofa cushion its stoned, need restoration, the bed is old and it is not Hotel quality as well as the mumps that must come from waltmart.

Pleasant staff and a nice clean pool. The location was perfect, walking distance to many sites. We managed to park a 2018 Dodge Ram pickup truck in the lower parking but it was a tight squeeze, so be careful with large vehicles. The fridge was large enough for a bunch of food, and an old fashioned coffee Brewer made great coffee.

Great location and the suite was comfy. The restaurant was closed for renovation, which was no problem, but the only coffee they had in th we morning was from a vending machine! That's just wrong.

This was my second time staying with the kids in a family suite. Price was comparable to the competition. Quality was decent. Staff were friendly and willing. Nice pool, hot tub, sauna, outside playground and indoor toddler playroom. Overall quite pleased. I just hate to pay an extra $33 per night for parking. I wish they would just include it.

Great staff and rooms. Right downtown and just a few blocks away from Parliament. The rooms have a full kitchen and comfortable beds. Complete with real keys! Great stay.

A hotel with actual room keys, not magnetic cards. Novel, nostalgic and fun. Suites with a full size fridge and stove, toaster, microwave, coffee maker and (huge plus for me! ) a legit tea kettle! Lovely outdoor balcony (though the "view" is buildings and parking lots). And the bed is pushed against the wall. A personal preference, I suppose, but a big negative for me.

Staff were kind and courteous. Pet friendly. Very clean and kitchen had everything you needed. Yes a tiny outdated but would definitely stay again! Pool, hot tub and sauna were great for the the of the night.

Place is nice and clean. Some appliances are dated but albeit very useful. They have a full range mini kitchen to prepare and cook food. Centrally located to almost all attractions. Staff are friendly. Only thing thats a bit dud is the parking fee which is way too pricey ($30+tax/night).

Love this hotel and the amazing staff that make each visit awesome. It’s my home away from home. Conveniently located off Elgin Street, easy to walk to the many events, shops and restaurants close by. Always clean. Kitchens let you save money by eating in or just making an evening cup of tea. Highly recommend you give this hotel a try. Oh yes, nice pool and gym too!

Perfect Budget Hotel. Great Space comfortable and clean. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Did not travel with a pet but it is pet friendly. Enjoyed the pool and the steam room. Would definitely stay again.

It's almost like a small apartment with a legit kitchen with full size stove and refrigerator. Plus a microwave, toaster, coffee maker, and full set of glass dishes. I wasn't terribly impressed by the furnishings, however for $87 I have no complaints. It's dated for sure but it would definitely be my preferred choice for extended stays. Downtown access to anything you could ask for including many tourist sites. However this means parking could be an issue but I wasn't traveling in a vehicle. Nor was I able to sample the rest of the buildings amenities. However the staff were great, people very ship shape and cosmopolitan. And the Wi-Fi was some of the best connection experience I've ever had. Rooms were old fashioned keys which can be nice especially for senior citizens who my find them more familiar.

The price was right, the staff were curtious and it is a clean place. We were supposed to get discounted parking with our room but we paid full price which was insane because there was barely any parking so I bottomed out my car finding a space at the other end of the hotel so carrying all my bags with a toddler and child was difficult because I had to walk to the other end of the hotel so I could get up to the 10th floor. I booked two rooms and called and verified they were beside each other but when we got up to our floor, the rooms were on opposite ends of the hall which was disappointing for our children. When we got to our room, the heat was all the way up so it was very hot so we went to crack a window to cool it down but the window was frozen shut and the balcony door was extremely difficult to open then we couldn't get it to close all the way so we had to ask a man to help us. I would like to give this place a second chance as we constantly look for an affordable place to get away but I would have to wait until there is a good deal on the room as I would hate to pay full price to be disappointed again.

For the price room furniture can be a little more up to date. Clean and quiet though. Cut keys are outdated and takes time to open the room locks.

Location Travelled through Canada, so from all the hotels that visited (and chose an inexpensive segment), this one liked the most. Actually, we got a flat rather than a room. ) ) Bedroom with large wardrobe, bathroom, hall, combined with kitchenette, dining table. In Addition to becoming familiar with the Canadian hotels drip coffee maker, stove with oven, kettle, toaster, microwave, a large refrigerator, a pile of all kinds of dishes. Even a pity that stayed only 2 nights-the hotel is just great, the location is a 10 minute walk from the Parliament Hill. On the first floor of the hotel is a cozy Italian restaurant, with delicious pasta and a good wine list, from where you can order food directly to your room. Near The shops, restaurants to choose from, near the stop of the direct bus to the airport. In general, liked everything. Definitely recommend! )

It's actually a suite with well equipped full kitchen with pots & pans, kettle & complete utensils, microwave, fridge, furnished living room wt Led TV, separate furnished dinner room, full bath and bedroom. There's no free breakfast but there's free Wi-Fi. Be sure to ask for which tower and take note for the right elevator when you received your keys. Plenty of parking for $30+ tax/day. Very close to all amenities and major tourists attractions areas. Restaurants & bars of all types were within walking distance for normal healthy people. Although the interior is not brand new but it is well maintained with minimal signs of rental life wear and tears. The room I stayed had only a double size bed which is the only downside. Personally I think it might be able to squeeze a full queen size bed in with little effort. But you do get the home away from home comfort and convenience. The suite we stayed also very quiet wt good privacy. The city hall was only 1 or 2 blocks away from the back entrance of this hotel. Definitely in the heart of downtown Ottawa.

Room was clean and quite, staff was there to help, alittle confusing to find your room. Pool area was great, did not like that you are charge 30 dollars on top of your room. Location was great. Parking was tricky ramps are steep and narrow confusing on exit signs other then that a decent place to stay.

Comfortable and adequate. Definitely an older style that could improve with some upgrades. Quiet and away from noise as requested. Breakfast is not included and is a bit costly.

Excellent 3 star property. Rooms are spacious and clean with a private walk out balcony. Check in was seemless. There is a separate elevator for the pool and fitness room, laundry facilities on each floor as well as ice machine and vending machines. The rooms could use some updating and the lighting could use improvement, but having said that, our room had a separate sitting area and a full kitchen complete with cookware and dishes. A great location right downtown and close to most attractions. Overall, a perfect arrangement for the budget minded traveller. We will definitely stay there again and recommend it to friends.

An older but somehow chic hotel with real keys to your room! I really enjoy this hotel. Its close to restaurants and shopping. But has a kitchen if you want to eat in. The rooms are clean and comfortable and they offer free Wi-Fi.

My family and I always try to stay here whenever we come every year. The staff are always plesant and helpful and the suites are clean and comfortable. It comfortably holds my family of 6 and the children's playroom helps to keep my kids occupied. I highly recommend the place for families.

I did not stay at the hotel but attended a meeting there. Overall, it was a very comfortable place to have a meeting. It is also easy to get there by public transportation. My only complaint is that the buffet meal did not have a vegetarian option in spite of it being promised.

A great, no-nonsense place to stay in Ottawa. We stayed in a tower suite that had the space / layout of a 1 bedroom apartment — — super comfy! Was a little bit shocked at the $30 for parking for one night though …

We always stay in Cartier Place now when in Ottawa. It is hands-down the best family friendly hotel I've ever stayed in. The amenities like play room, on-site playground and great pool would be enough, but when you factor in pet friendly rooms, way walking distance to Parliament Hill and ByWard Market and other downtown sites and the amazingly helpful staff you've got a winner! Highly recommend to families with children and those couples seeking an easy hotel near everything.

It is close to Parliament, so I guess location is good. It was good for just being an overnight visiting guest. We also had a small kitchen within our suite, which would have been very handy if you are planning for a longer stay.

The rooms are nice but a bit expensive. We got a one bedroom with a kitchenette which we never used. There was an air conditioning system in the room that didn't work to cool the area and yet, was so loud it kept us up at night. We told the front desk and when we came back in the evening the air conditioner was off. We had to sleep in a stuffy room. You also have to pay for parking on top of the room.

Very clean rooms and clean overall. Great hotel for a family. Do yourself and your family a huge favor. Order room service, the food is inexpensive, plentiful and five star. Ya I know… room service food 5 star! Can't wait to stay again.

Good Pet Friendly hotel if you're looking for suite style accommodations. Good for groups. Has a nice pool with a hot tub. Close to lots of bars and restaurants. The only thing that would make it a 5/5 would be if it had free parking. But you can't have everything.

Clean and sufficient. Wi-Fi is decent though cuts out, gym only has free weights up to 45, no rack.

Pretty standard. Free Wi-Fi and a nice pool. Curtains in the living room/kitchen area in the rooms do not block out much light, so if anyone sleeps on the sofa bed, they'll be up at the crack of dawn. No extra linens or pillows for the sofa bed, so ask the front desk if you need. Kind of feels like a old folks home in the Tower rooms.

We stayed here 3 nights with two young kids on a home move in the suites with a kitchen. Pros: — Fast Wi-Fi, — fully furnished kitchen with everything you'd need. We saved a fortune vs going to restaurants, including microwave, over, stove, fridge, freezer, dishwasher — The rooms are properly separated in the suite with a real door so the sounds is insulated, so you can put the kids to bed with a noisemaker and monitor, and the adults can sleep on the pull-out couch and stay up later — kids love the indoor play area full of toys and the balcony with high glass rails Cons: — bathrooms, general decorations, and key system are slightly outdated, not a modern look — underground parking ($25 per day) is a little weird and tight if you had an SUV or minivan, but typical with Ottawa downtown The pros definitely outweigh the cons for us, it's the best hotel we've stayed at while travelling with kids so far, so I'd totally recommend it.

We stayed just for one night while in town for a family get reunion. Good value for money. The rooms were very clean and well stocked. The kids loved the playroom downstairs. All the staff were very friendly and helpful. The only reason I didn't give it full stars was that the pull out couch was uncomfortable.

Very close to the Rideau canal, this hotel is a great winter stay! The rooms are clean, cozy and well-eqipped. We are repeat visitors, and would stay here again a future winter!

Given the location, this is one of the greatest value spots in Ottawa. Clean, got a massive suite, and the price was very reasonable. Will definitely consider it again on my next visit.

This place was dated and the food was not great. I forgot a very small tablet in my room, called within a few hours of leaving and it has "disappeared". There was no offer to compensate me or even apologize. Would not recommend it.

Originally in Ottawa for business and turned it into a family weekend. What a great hotel! Two bedrooms, plenty of space, and towels. More than you need. Staff go way beyond what you could expect. Location — perfect. Lots to do. Easy walking to Parliament and Byward Market. Definitely a return visit for us next time we go to Ottawa.

The place is extremely dated, but the space is good for a family with younger children ie separate bedroom and a full kitchenette. It is clean and staff are friendly. Beds are rock hard so if you like a soft sleep not going to happen here, actually all the furniture is hard and kind of uncomfortable, but I guess they don't expect people to spend time sitting on things in the room. Now that I am here at the hotel the price seems a bit high for what is here, but that is the way it is when you book without really seeing the place.

Loved staying at this hotel. Probably one of the best hotels I've stayed at in Ottawa. I've stayed at some of the more expensive hotels and was not happy after my stay but was very happy at this hotel. The staff was very friendly and the room was clean.

I have been a weekly guest at Cartier Square Suites Hotel for several years. The ever-friendly and efficient front desk staff, the administrators behind the scenes, the women who always clean and prepare the rooms so meticulously (the dish towels, for example, are ALWAYS in the exact same place each week), the maintenance staff who keep the hotel immaculately clean, all do their work in a way that feels as if I am doing them a favor whenever I am there. Got the place for a good price. Its a good place because of the location. Huge room but a dated. Clean place.
