It was clean, friendly and a great location for our needs!

Had a great stay at capital hill, quiet and clean, arrived early and got parking and even upgraded us to a suite and no extra charge, friendly staff as well.

Its in the heart of downtown Ottawa. Rooms are good enough and it is well managed.

We just arrived today but so far everything is great. Wonderful location!

Pro: free parking. Polite staff. That's it. Con: expensive, non renovated previously smoking filled place. Beautiful view of horrific industrial pipes clogged with industrial grade gunk. No mini fridge. Exercise room is a bicycle, 2 treadmill and a glass door shower. Hobestly for the price, go elsewhere. A nearby one was 20$ more and was worth 100$ more in value.

I have stayed here several times over several years and it never fails to impress me. Very friendly staff. Great rooms. Super convenient location. One of the best places to stay in the capital!

This hotel is in a great location but rooms are old and slightly dingy, not much room to place your things in room or washroom, the hotel is in need of a major renovation. Elevators are slow and small. Service was just ok, employee's are not happy, they just serve because they have to. Our room key had to be reprogrammed after first night because it didn't work to let us in on the second night… very frustrating because we were on the seventh floor and elevators were slow, long lineup of guests in lobby and one person helping everyone. I would pay a little extra and stay elsewhere next time.

Huge, comfortable room with 2 queen beds, kitchenette area with fridge and microwave and all cutlery/crockery you need. Hairdryer, iron & ironing board too. Good choice at breakfast/lunch. Our room's on the top floor (12th).

Location is great but the room not so much. Very expensive for what you get. No fridge no microwave nothing but a small tv. The room we got was a tiny room next to another tiny room that used to be 1 normal size room that they converted. You can hear the people in the next room using the bathroom. There are nicer hotels for the same price and cheaper. I came here from the states and will not be using this hotel again.

City in walking distance, friendly and always helpful staff at any hour, clean and spacious hotel rooms for a local owned and operated hotel. Bathrooms are small but equipped with all the basics however the wardrobe could have been bigger compared the rest of the room. Breakfast available at the hotel, didn't get a chance to taste but was told it was delicious :) Definitely recommend!

Extremy outdated, rooms have a musty-like smell, water pressure is very weak and goes from hot to cold continually while showering, toilet won’t flush.

Location perfect, but the room we had was zo dark during the day that I needed a flashlight to pack my suitcase. Hotel is also very noisy, we really could hear every word of our neighbours.

This hotel is need of some upgrades. My rooms air conditioning did not work so it was very hot. Also the sheets were sketchy. I would not want to stay here again. Having said that we did have meetings there and the food and service were good.

Staying at Capital Hill Hotel & Suites while attending a conference nearby. Excellent value, clean and pleasant hotel near to all ammenities. Parliament, great food, pubs, culture, shopping and more are all just steps away.

Nice clean spot. Spacious rooms with a balcony. Great housekeeping. Cool little kitchenette with fridge and microwave. My only minor complaint is that they only have pop machines, no snacks.

It is very comfortable room.

The hotel is so central to everything and the room and staff are awesome. They are helpful with directions and getting anything you may need. The room is newly decorated and was very clean! Highly recommend!

This is our second stay in the hotel and we were very pleased with it! We love the location, ability to walk to either the Byward or Bank Street easily. Staff are friendly and attentive, young and not imposing. Although decor is somewhat dated, the room was clean and comfortable. Parking is always difficult with a small lot, but staff are happy to bring your car around!

Of the 6 hotels that I've been to in Ottawa so far, my experience with Capital Hill was the least pleasant of all during my stay from Feb 7 to 11. I booked through Air Miles Travel and even though I pre-paid for a total of 4 nights way ahead of time (early Jan. ), I wasn't offered anything impressive. There was no kitchen (but that's not a huge issue) and not even a small fridge with ice, though a fridge was eventually provided for free upon my request (which is why I'm giving 2 stars and not 1). Worst of all, the Wi-Fi was exceptionally weak, apparently a problem they've been having for a month which is bad if you're travelling for business. As it stands, I will avoid this hotel in the future and will go for more competitive venues that won't make me regret my stay upon leaving, even if it means having to pay a little more per night for better service. Oh, and on my last day, I was literally woken up by housekeeping at 9AM and the light was turned on, as if I weren't responsible enough to understand the check-out procedure by myself. Rude!

We spent two nights in this hotel and it was a nice experience but nothing out of the ordinary. We wish there was a mini fridge for drinks but other than that there's nothing to complain about. Great location if you're looking to stay in the eventful part of Ottawa.

The room is okay and clean. However there is no fridge, the bathroom is super small so when you are tall it's not convenient because in the shower the ceiling is not even 7feet. Also there is no indication on the web site that phones and Wi-Fi is down for a couple of week. If I would have known I would have booked elsewhere because I am here for work but I can't work… And tonight there are only 3 channels that work on the TV so it really seems like they need to do some serious renovations before I book here again!

For one night it was okay. The breakfast was not exactly famous, but was rather reinforcement.

Simple Hotel, central, clean, with comfortable rooms and spacious. Price I cannot comment because I paid for a package trip and not the cost to stay here.

Stayed here in early December and have been debating writing this review but decided I must. Overall as a hotel it’s good! Service is good as there were people yelling on our floor at 2AM and the staff responded immediately which was amazing. However, they make you keep your car keys at the front desk in case they need to double park since the car park is very small. Even if you want your car keys, they still have to keep them which is insane in my opinion I have never heard of any other hotel that does this. They moved the car a few times even though I parked it in a spot specifically so it wouldn’t have to be moved, but they didn’t damage it so that’s fine. Room was alright and updated, bathroom was a bit outdated and there was still someone else’s hair on the bathroom floor so my recommendation to the hotel is to just double check on the bathroom cleanliness. Also, fun fact, Elvis stayed here when he was in Ottawa! Google search Elvis Beacon Arms Hotel (the old name this hotel had) and you’ll see it! I think if the hotel put a plaque of this in front they could attract so many more customers.

Very comfortable and well located.

Convenient downtown location, minutes from Parliament Hill. The room was spacious and clean. The window looked into an office building… Very cosmopolitan :) Hotel staffs were very attentive and accommodating. Excellent value for a weekend trip to Canada's capital city.

Very good placement of the hotel, very clean, close to parliament, comfortable beds, but the problem is the station… Excellent!

The hotel is well located for access to Byward Market, NAC and the Parliament buildings. The room was clean and we had a king sized bed. There is no fridge in the room. The rooms would benefit from a renovation (bathrooms were clean but dated). There was a nightly fee for our dog, which was fine, but we weren't informed of it when booking, even though they were told we were bringing our dog.
Sadly, our floor was very noisy until after 1 a. M. Due to packs of teenagers roaming the halls and banging doors, who congregated outside our door. I, and several others complained to the front desk before it all stopped. I think a curfew should be enforced. Next time I will request a floor without children on it.
Parking was free off site.
I will book here again.

It is not a wonder of hotel because it is old but it is clean and the rooms are comfortable and spacious. The best thing is the location, 4 minutes from the center walking. That is the best thing that has. For a few days is perfect.

The place was very beautiful, it was so close to the Parliament and also to the WTP. I liked if the Chambers service was more fréquant and they nétoyait the access rooms more details than they did.

Good hotel with very pleasant friendly staff and good organization. Room was delightfully spacious, the bathroom bright and tidy. Unfortunately the side sounds of the bathroom of the neighbors and the rattling of the flags at the entrance are somewhat disturbing; But this can also be because of the location of the rooms. Unfortunately there was no fridge in the room.

Not the fanciest hotel in Ottawa for sure but the staff and service are top end. After leaving our visit I realized I'd forgot something when I called Jennifer and the front desk staff were amazing (better then amazing! ) within 2 hours shipment arrangements were made of my forgot items … they smiled the whole time they were helping me never frustrated just full of help at 5 to 5 on a Friday. Beds are comfortable, hotel is clean … I probably would have booked again due to the amazing help of staff and there friendliness will definitely book again! You outshine customer service thank you!

Welcome was very friendly, the car was parked by the staff and provided on time for departure.
Very large rooms, clean, super location.

The building is located in a fantastic location. The price for a room was amazing compared to the hotels nearby. I would definitely come here again. I didn't give the hotel five stars because it looks like it could use a slight renovation to make it look more modern.

Worst customer service ever! We stayed for 3 nights and reported to the staff of the clogged sink in our room a couple of minutes after we stepped in. They sent one of their maintenance staff who spent a long time fixing the sink and was unsuccessful. He promised to have a company come and fix the issue the next day. Nobody showed up. When we discussed this with the individual at the front desk, he was extremely rude and acted as if it was not his responsibility to deal with this issue. None of the staff took any step to help us and they all acted as if we should be happy that we found a room in this hotel in such a busy long weekend! We were not able to use the sink throughout our stay and obviously was not able to change our room as there was no other room available. The hotel never acknowledged that there was an issue with the sink regardless of the fact that they sent technicians to this room several times, never apologized and did not reply to our emails. When I contacted the manger, she confirmed that the issue was attended and fixed after we left! When I asked for explanation, she did not reply to my email. Do not waste your money and time. Do not ruin your vacation. Stay away from this hotel that has staff and management who do not care about their guests.

Clean Hotel and close to the parliament. The sale of bathroom is small, but has in the room a small kitchen.

If for no other reason than customer service… they are amazing. From the moment we checked in, we were made to feel very important. Our room was clean, tidy and the beds are so very comfortable. We slept so soundly, no noise from outside either. I certainly don't see why there are so many complaints on these reviews. We still have another night here but I would love to stay another few nights. Thank you Capitol Hill Suites for making us feel important and catering to our every need. Exactly what you'd expect from a hotel downtown: rooms were clean, fresh bedding/towels if needed, other amenities provided quickly when requested. Room was quiet as well; never had issues with sound coming in, or going out. Staff were friendly and helpful. Parking wasn't too bad considering the location and proximity to other points of interest.

The rooms looked old, but has a hubicacion excellent and the beds are sooo comfortable.

Downtown Ottawa suites, very well maintained and spotless. Rooms are big and inviting, very comfortable. Amenities in every direction around you. Great place to stay and great price for what you get!

Great location, but otherwise not worth what you pay for at all. Rooms are small and not as advertised. Entire hotel including the rooms smell very old and dirty. Windows don't open so you can't air out the dirty old scent of the hotel. Poor air circulation, no ventilation. There is AC provided but again doesn't help with the musty smell and dust. The Wi-Fi works about 20% of the time. The "Business centre" is two old computers in a dingy room near reception. The "Fitness centre" is two treadmills on the second floor in an empty hotel room… it looks and feels very creepy. It's close to public transportation and main attractions but it is definitely not worth what you pay for. I highly recommend a different hotel, this one completely ruined my stay in Ottawa.

Location acceptable. Bathroom with the minimum. Bed great.

Although the suite was a great size. The accommodations were quite dated and less of a positive. Upon arriving the room had a very musty odor to it. That and the thick layer of dust on the top of the headboards made it seem like this room hadn't been used in a while. A couple of power outlets didn't work. The mini fridge had seen better days and the sofa was SO hard. Also note that the area the hotel is in is a business area so keep in mind you won't find anything open after 8pm in the immediate area… Not even a Tim Hortons!

Walking distance to lots of tourist places, parliament, war museum, bicycle rentals. Also a good place to grab food for the day next door like an office breakfast lunch place. Valet parking is included because their lot is small and requires them to aisle park cars. If you plan on walking /transit your time in Ottawa it's not bad at all. Rooms are normal rooms, but the ac works very well. You can also have a fridge and microwave brought to your room if you're staying for a few days. Staff is friendly, overall a good place to stay in Ottawa.

Located walking distance to Parliament Hill and other tourist sites. We were able to stay in a large room that accommodated 5 adults with 2 queen beds & a roll-in cot. This was great for a family with 3 adult children. The room was excellent, too.

I wasn't sure if I was comfortable leaving my car keys at the front desk for them to park my car, but it worked out fine. I had to retrieve some items from my car and they promptly handed me my keys as well as when I went out for the day. The facilities are clean and quiet. Had no issues sleeping and I'm a light sleeper. Great location One odd thing is that the outlet in the bathroom is in such an awkward location, I can even plug in my razor which unfortunately the batteries died, so I charged up the razor during the day and shaved the next day. The other odd thing is that one of the beds in my bedroom is about 3 inches from the closet making the closet practically unusable. During the week I was up by 6 am and had plenty of hot water but on Saturday, I slept in till 8 am and was surprised that there was very little hot water. Internet access is good. cable reception is fine. Wasn;t so crazy about The BIB restaurant when I went for breakfast the other day service was a bit slow and I had to struggle to get my waitresses attention to top up my coffee. Had much better experience at the Cafe Delux next door. I would definitely stay here again.

We booked a standard room and, although decor want quite modern, got two queen beds in a very large and comfortable suite. I would stay here again.

Right downtown. Walk from everywhere. Room was dark and had a musty smell. But otherwise very clean. Nice staff. Kept my Keyes at the desk and had to move my car in the night. Not a big deal. Check out time was noon which was great. Little fridge was sufficient. Ac is a blessing.

Door of the room with a day of almost a half inch all the way around, we hear the neighbors, doors in the corridors for stairs ultra noisy, no juice d orange (not find in machines on the floors) ultra carpet dirty in the room, but the price was on sale during our passage and $ 99 c is great for a Friday.

Odd. Slightly run down. To start with parking you will need to give them your key as they move your car as needed, very little parking apparently — there is a fee per day. Just disorganized. When we arrived it was as if they did not know what to do… Bathrooms not great no fan. Room was stale smelling. Hotel guest book outdated. It's cheaper but you pay for what you get.

The room was nice and big. Beds were comfortable but the pillows could have been better. The towels were thin and scratchy but otherwise everything was good.

Room was clean. Wi-Fi works. Unfortunately all elevators were out of service!

The service was great and the room was much larger than we anticipated! We went up to Ottawa for new years eve and were glad to find a nice spacious room at the hotel. When we needed anything, the hotel brought it straight to our room. Only problem was the lack of parking, but there is a nearby underground lot.

Good value and good location. Well, the carpet is no longer the latest and even otherwise, the establishment is not new but the location makes everything again good. The most important thing is for me, a clean and comfortable bed and that is it. Therefore, I recommend the Hotel.

Great hotel in the heart of the city. Very comfortable and close to everything, even across the road to the bus stop for the Ottawa Senators stadium! Staff were friendly, welcoming and helpful. I would definitely stay here again.

Clean affordable and great location. Not anything flashy, but good for the price. The elevators were a little slow. The staff seemed a little bit amature but overall it was a good experience.

Carpet felt dirty, window leading to office windows, bath had a slushy sound under the first coat like it had water under it, two slow elevators that are full after the lights on parliament.

The staff were nice. Room was ok. It is old and dated. Not very sound proof at all. Buses rumble down the road at 5:30 am. Wi-Fi did not work at all. Staff tells you they don't understand why but after reading other reviews I realize that's a lie. There are way better rooms for the same amount.

The bath faucet is leaking, is dirty, mattress motel quality, we must push the doors to close them well. This Hotel is over rated.

Convenient location, OLD hotel. I only stayed for one night, but this place was suitable. Nothing fancy. Rooms were not modern. Outlets were few and far between. Employees were courteous.

The only good thing about this hotel is the location otherwise do not go there. The bed is bad and uncomfortable sleeping, you can say there is no Internet because it's so oo bad and the ppl in the reception are not welcoming at all. bad hotel ever.

Clean rooms if they ever come to clean them. Hot water is super sporadic when taking a shower. The kitchen is just a microwave with a dish washer. The employees at the front desk are great but have little control. The parking is a nightmare and always packed. Wi-Fi might as well not exist. Didn't work for me. Stayed 6 days. elevators could take up to 10 mins to arrive. Overall the place has potential but is a nice looking shit hole.

This hotel is ideally suited for people who are interested in seeing all the major sites. The price is good and the staff are friendly and helpful. The room was a good size and quite comfortable. The hotel itself is older and is in need of some upgrades. Old toilets, old showerheads and doors don't close right in the bathroom. No fan in bathroom. After a shower everything steamed over. Not enough towels and the ones in the room were rough and small. First towels we had were so old they were falling apart. Staff should tell guests about the restaurant discount when they check in. Some information on transit would also be helpful.

Nothing fancy but it is ok hotel for the money. Location is unbeatable. It is 5 minute walking distance from the parliament. We stayed there over the weekend and parking is free in Ottawa on Saturday and Sunday. The front desk was nice. Room was clean. Overall we had good experience for the money but definitely this hotel is nothing fancy.

We booked and asked for 2 rooms at the same floor, if possible next to each other, 5 months in advance (in March 2014). We didn't get the rooms next to each other or even at the same floor (in August 2014)! The Wi-Fi is really slow at the 8th floor and not working at all at the 9th. Also, only 2 towels for a room of 4 persons. It's definitely not enough. We were quite disappointing.

Washroom sink not draining and hence was a pain. Seems like the staff knew about the issue and were totally unapologetic or thought I was to blame. The plumber who came to fix it at 11:30 pm did some thing in the washroom and claimed it was fixed. At the same time he said the sink needed to be replaced. The sink was never repaired and we were left to deal with it for the 15 hours we stayed at the hotel. Wi-Fi is substandard. The room did not have a microwave oven. Also, breakfast is never included. Nor is there any convenient restaurant access. The beds and the hotel decor are below average and it is a noisy hotel. The location is very good — just 2 blocks from Parliament Hill.
