Excellent hotel, with a treatment of all its staff the best, always attentive and with the best willingness to help and guide! We were lucky that Adrian suggested where to go and the best places not only in Ottawa but even in Montreal. We definitely recommend it, beautiful design, very central, and take care of every detail during your stay!

My wife and I spent two wonderful days in Ottawa. The Medcalfe was a instrumental part of our wonderful weekend staff and management are fabulous. Very pleasant and inviting. The decor of this hotel is great. Retro style with a pleasing elegantly. Our 6th floor corner room was better than expected. Spacious and comfortable with a touch of cozy relaxation. Fantasy Bathroom, truly wish I could afford exactly the same… THANK YOU ALL. It made our visit truly amazing.

The staff was very kind and helpful. The hotel the room were incredible. Located near the Parliament Hill and shops, we were able to leave the car behind and walk. My only negative point would have to be the "pet fee". $75 is quite expensive. I'm used to pay ~$20-$30, but never that much.

Quiet, cozy room. Nice atmosphere and directly downtown. Lighting in room was a little scarce but other than that I enjoyed my stay.

The absolute best hotel I've ever stayed at in any country. Every single staff member was incredibly friendly and helpful. The rooms were kept very clean and are really nice. Location is walking distance to Parliament, Confederation Park, and tons of restaurants. The entire family left in complete agreement that we've never stayed at a hotel that compares.

The location of the hotel was amazing as well the lobby was beautiful. The room was nice as well however it felt small and cramped despite being told it was one of their larger rooms. As well the only window in the room pointed inwards towards the lobby which did allow natural light in due to the large roof window above the lobby but wasn't quite the same as a exterior facing window which would have been preferable.

Nothing to complain about. I would have given 4 stars to property. But staff at front desk and house keeping was good. So I have to give 5 stars. Just wanted to see little better condition or a little less room rate. Will consider in future.

Really good location: close to all the attractions in Ottawa!. The hotel is clean and all the staff are very friendly. Although in the centre of downtown, our rooms were very quiet and we all slept like logs. The pool is adequate but be warned of the cramped spaces in the underground parking. Would definitely stay again.

The corner room we got was very good. However it is under staffed. Lobby is spacious but no complimentary hot beverages and no normal drinking water makes it a less comfortable place. Staff is friendly. Centrally located place. Good for short trips.

Hotel service is good and reasonable for the price. We had king bed room. It is cozy and comfortable for two people. Washroom can be improved further.

The lobby impresses with a beautiful library and sofas where you could enjoy the books on display.
Spacious, well-kept rooms, with a large bathroom; You eat very well in the restaurant which also offers many local beers.

I simply cannot say enough about The Metcalfe Team! They truly treat you like family. The environment is very happy and friendly. The team (I don't want to call them staff) are simply amazing. After staying there from Apr11-27 I was sad to leave the team. Sophie, Shirley, Christian you guys rock! I don't know what I would have done without you! The location is second to done. The restaurant had wonderful food and the girls spectacular! Thank you Metcalfe Team for everything!

Great location and great styling in the main areas of the hotel. The room we stayed in seemed a bit dated but was clean and comfortable.

We stayed at the Metcalfe for a week in April while I was in Ottawa for a few days business. It is a great little hotel that offers comfortable rooms and a very social lobby area. I stayed here years ago when it was branded as Indigo and they have managed to retain their charming and cool vibe. Really appreciate the staff who are attentive and professional.

Too expensive for the services and room offered. They are just leveraging on their location. There is always room for improvement.

Your kids can request a gaming night with reception and they'll set it all up in one of their lobbies! I decour is lovely. It is not dated, rather historical. I really enjoyed my time here. Conference facilities are quite good, and staff is very accommodating.

Nice place a 5 minute walk from the Ottawa Parliament. I recommend.

My wife and I stayed for 2 nights this Easter and I couldn't have asked for a better time. I loved the boutique look of the place, everything was neat and tidy and our room was great. We picked a corner room which has windows on 2 sides giving us a good view and although we were near the street, it was very quiet. The staff was so friendly and accommodating. Special thanks to Kevin and Lily for the time they spent making sure everything was just right. We took advantage of their 5.00 voucher for forgoing room service a day but if you need things like towels or trash changed, its no problem. Parking is a little tight, but considering its downtown, not surprising. If you have a bigger vehicle, best to park up top. The short 15 min walk to the Rideau Center down Wellington was simple and enjoyable. Location is great.

We enjoyed our stay at the Metcalfe Hotel. The rooms were very clean and a dexent size, the staff were very friendly, and the lobby was a very nice place to visit. It is full of places to sit and a computer area if you need more space to work. The pool was rather small and not deep, less than 4ft the whole pool, but was a nice area and there was a hot tub and exercise room. All around a nice place to stay in (King size bed! )

I just recently spent two nights here to get away for some down time and to celebrate a friend’s birthday. I am still so blown away at the service provided — unlike any other! Shirley and Sophie were amazing from the moment I drove in from an icy drive in to town. Their little treat provided within minutes of my arrival was an unexpected personal touch that made my day. I didn’t once feel like a guest — immediately felt like extended family. The room was comfortable and the lobby/atrium is super unique and a must see. Shout out to the girls at the bar as well for treating us so kindly. I will be back in no time! Thanks again Metcalfe!

Superbe boutique hotel in a great location with all the amenities needed (even parking which can be hard to find in winter in downtown Ottawa. Walking distance from pretty much everything there is to do. The reception staff gave us great suggestion for a feed and great place to have some drinks as we checked in pretty late. Loved it and recommend it to everybody.

Suggested family should stay here for a weekend. Then visited them a couple of times while there. Rooms are fantastic and the staff is very courteous.

Hotel location is great and the rooms are clean. However, our 3rd floor room had a view on the lobby and (on the other side of the giant lobby well where some sunlight came through), a hallway where other customers walked by. So our drapes had to stay closed, making the room constantly dark. On top of that, the walls were paper thin, we could hear people walking by and talking in the hallway, even when they were whispering. A loud domestic fight also broke out next door in the middle of the night, but to their credit, management quickly handled the situation and were quite apologetic in the morning (though no compensation was offered).

Lovely independent boutique hotel, super friendly and helpful staff and wonderful, cozy and modern atmosphere! Rooms are pretty standard, but the kingsize bed was superb! Swimming pool and jacuzzi are a bit outdated, however 24/7 access to the gym is a great plus. Would definitely stay here again!

Stylish hotel in the city center of Ottawa. Rooms are ok but not cheap. Staff seems busy and semi friendly. When I arrived at night after a long journey I found a bottle of water in the room. For drinking that water the hotel asked a steep price (in comparison to the supermarkets around). I wouldn’t call that hospitality. Rooms should be cheaper or service should be better.

Was OK. Pricey considering other chains in area available at a cheaper price… location is good. Cleanliness is good. Small room would be nice if it had a microwave and a fridge. For 200 on a Saturday night in Oct. Better can be found for less.

Great design in unique use of old building. Stunning lobby area. Very comfortable rooms which are well appointed. Extewmely clean. Staff are very helpful. Coffee shop attached to hotel building. Geeat location for walking to all of Ottawa's attractions.

Great boutique-style hotel to stay in the Capital. Centrally located, walking distance to parks and many landmarks including Parliament Hill. Terrific staff — friendly and professional. Thoroughly enjoyed out stay.

Clean room and helpful, knowledgeable staff. Most upsetting thing was running down to the restaurant where a sign said open till 11 then being told that the kitchen would close at 10. While that was expected, the server told us that it would be better if we went up to our room and ordered. We rushed up and ordered for room service and the exact same server, over the phone, tells us that the kitchen is now closed and hangs up. Honestly just wanted a snack or something and all the running around just to be shot down was Extremely unprofessional and frustrating. The hotel itself though was beautiful, well-kept, and the staff outside the restaurant were amazingly helpful and friendly!

Pros: Nice Lobby Cons: Just about everything else. Needed to authorize the entire amount of stay plus $150 on credit card upfront instead of just authorizing the typical incidentals on the credit card even though I had enough room on credit card for these incidentals and was going to pay for the hotel on debit. Needed to pay for everything with additional $350 deposit because of this (first time in my life this has happened at any hotel anywhere). Was not told about any pet fees, just knew that the hotel was "pet Friendly". Was charged $75 to keep a small parakeet on the desk in my room. Since these things can be debatable as to who is at fault, what is not debatable is the condition of the "spa inspired" bathroom in the "upgraded queen suite". It was so small you could barely move around and the photos attached will paint the picture of how old it is. I'm just not one to request to change rooms when I am only staying for a few days. I typically go to Ottawa every 2 months or so but will not be staying here again. If this is the upgraded queen suite, I would hate to see the regular rooms. UPDATE: the response from the manager below is pathetic and just confirms that I will never stay here again. Also my photos of the disgusting bathroom with peeling shower and cracked floor are not posting for some reason. I also have a photo of the tiny cage that my parakeet stayed in that created zero mess in the hotel to justify the same $75 charge as a large dog.

Loved it! Got in really late it was nice to see the place has an added security feature of locking their doors. We easily got an extended checkout time. The tub was huge and amazingly relaxing. The bed was so clean and comfy. Complimentary flavoured water was awesome. And if I started in the design of the place I'd never finish my review. Loved it! Staff also was super friendly!

I enjoyed my stay. The hotel lobby was quite inviting and the room I stayed in was nice and clean. The bathroom is a little dated and the pool could also use an upgrade. Other than that everything was excellent. Great quality service at the concierge desk and friendly house keeping staff.

The staff is great and they are very knowledgeable. We were down for the weekend for the Garth Brooks concert and they advised my fiancé and I that instead of having to drive there and back we could catch a bus and stay parked at the hotel, saving both gas and money. The room was very nice and pleasant. We had a great weekend there and it was always clean and warming. I would recommend this hotel to anyone who is going to be visiting Ottawa.

Small but modern room, convenient location, friendly staff and overall good amenities for the price. No complaints, stayed there several times and would come back again.

Great boutique hotel. Nice staff room was smaller than I hoped. Service was great. We booked a King bed, standard room with breakfast. The rooms are well decored snd bathrooms clean. Open shower meant it was a little cool (we put a tissue on the vent while showering). We were on the 6th (top) floor so we had guests (pigeons) serenading us in the morning. It's quite a walk from the hotel parking to the hotel so those with walking problems beware (although you can actually get from your vehicle to the rooms in a wheelchair). I would recommend to others…

Stayed for 3 nights in a room with a king bed and it was a beautiful room. Very friendly service from all the staff and the rooms were cleaned very well. There was construction inside the building which woke me up early Friday morning which was very loud drilling and grinding outside my room. The view from my room was also horrible as my window was facing the lobby. Overall through the staff and the rooms were very good and I would return here again.

Staff are super nice. Our room was clean and it had everything we needed. I don't recommend having breakfast here because it's expensive. One side note: I had some chocolate left on the side table I was saving and they threw it out or took it away. I was kind of upset because it wasn't garbage. The pool and hot tub are what sold us to come here! I'd definitely come back to stay.

We held a family function at the Hotel and some of our family spent the weekend here. The function was wonderfully supported and I would not hesitate to hold another one here. Our out of town guests were all very happy with their rooms especially my mother who is wheelchair bound. Her handicapped access room was the best she has ever stayed at… lots of area in the room, low bar in the closet, roll in shower and low windows. All the staff were amicable, helpful and pleasant. Well done Staff and Management of the Indigo! Thank you for helping to make our function an overwhelming success!
