I would avoid this hotel. The small restaurant has a very limited menu and run out of food often. The front desk staff were the most unhelpful. Definitely not customer service focused. You can definitely get better downtown for the same price. Not worth it.

Excellent location to the Parliament. Excellent service from the Crews (From Manager to Concierge). Room is very clean and quiet. Check-in and check-out hosts were able to quickly resolve billing issues.

Great experience on a very hot summer day.

The hotel was okey, but the reception advised me to use the parking garage in front of the hotel, which I did. On the last day of my stay upon the checkout my car was broken into and all my personal belongings, laptops, cameras and, most importantly, passports were stolen. The locals say the area is not safe at all, so the hotel should make the customers aware of this.

This is a fabulous place to stay in Ottawa! Quiet, relaxing, attentive staff to accomodate your needs, pet friendly, terrific sleeps on top brand mattresses, extra clean, small eat in cafeteria with healthy, local produce and fresh ingredients plus Canadian made snack foods. We have been there twice and will continue to stay at The Alt in Ottawa whenever we travel to the area. ,

Location is good as it's close to everything we are here doing downtown. Staff aren't very friendly, rather cold in fact. I have been here since Thursday afternoon and last night when we arrived back from the bar at 2am was the first time any staff member greeted us … I'd be happy to merely receive a smile back walking through the lobby for the price we are paying. Mind you I understand some business operate in a "you're lucky to be here" we don't owe you squat kinda way … not my kind of place. Room is nice enough and the bed is comfy though.

Was only there as part of an escape manor scenario but it was a lovely place. Professional staff, very warm and helpful. The color scheme really sets it apart from the run of the mill hotels. The room that was part of our escape scenario was very nice.

Spacious room (two queens), clean sheets and towels and loved the bathroom design (might borrow for home bathroom remodel). Friendly staff. Great bar/lounge in lobby. Don’t mind the concrete wall view because I don’t plan to stay in room all day. If you want view, pay extra to stay at the Fairmont. It’s perfect location from sights. Free parking on weekend, up to $18 per day on weekdays.

Such an amazing hotel, definitely recommend for a nice stay in Ottawa. Hotel and rooms are very clean and modern. Staff is incredibly friendly and even surprised me with a card and dessert in my room for my birthday. Will definitely stay here again!

The Alt hotel is perfectly located for the Ottawa business traveller. In the centre of the Ottawa's business district, you're walking distance to any office and countless food options. The rooms are new and modern, though the view leaves something to be desired. The bar in the ground floor always seems to have people around giving a welcoming vibe. Great place to stay.

Ideal urban hotel, the way more should be. Clean, innovative hotel rooms, very friendly staff. No parking at the hotel itself which is not a big deal because there is a parking garage opposite the street. Unfortunately my rental car was broken into the last day of my stay and some expensive items were stolen. The hotel's Guest Services Manager and his front desk team were incredibly empathetic and helpful, offering food/drinks while we filled out a police report. I have nothing bad to say about this hotel, great experience overall!

It was a good hotel. Similar to the ones I've been in Latvia. Although the shower door isn't sealed so a lot of water fell on the floor. The ceiling is bear concrete but I think the hotel is a more environmentally friendly hotel. You have to tap your card in the elevator before choose your floor or it won't work.

Conveniently located in downtown Ottawa, the Alt Hotel is one of many modern options in the area. It features a 24-hour cafe, expensive but useful in a part of town where a lot closes after 5pm, and a 24-hour gym. The room I was in was small but well appointed with a flat screen TV and Keurig. The bathroom was very nice. The big knock on the place was the heat: it wasn't working in my room. In January. In Ottawa. It made actually trying to do anything but sit in bed uncomfortable.

Great concept! (Boutique). Casual yet sophisticated. Pleasant, helpful and fun staff. Perfect location in the heart of the nations capitol in Ottawa. Trendy, comfy and pleasantly clean property. Oh, completely GREEN might I add. GREAT FUN! GREAT TIME! MODERN and cheerful property.

Very nice modern hotel. Everything is new, and well kept. Rooms aren't the biggest but the feel more than makes up for it. Parking is insanely expensive though, they don't have their own lot so you only get tickets the the parking structure which is over prices. Hotel needs to work out a better deal on parking…

We really liked this hotel! We ordered the local beer deal (for $20 they will leave 4 local beers in your mini fridge), which came with an adorable hand drawn card which was a lovely welcome. All the staff I interacted with were SO friendly and helpful, the room was clean and comfortable and warm and the location is close enough to everything we wanted to visit. The free hot chocolate bar in the cafe was a wonderful welcome back after walking around in the — 18 weather.

Nice, modern hotel with nice, if cozy, rooms. Perfect for those who travel light and often with no car, as the is no included onsite parking. Parking is in an external, private parking garage. But, you're not paying for other people to park their cars if you're using public transit to get around The staff are exceptionally nice and extremely helpful. Overall, a very nice hotel for short stays. I would stay here again.

Clean and very nice hotel.

Pros:
Nice and clean. Modern. Friendly staff. Great general manager — quickly resolved an issue for me. Good location downtown. Helpful at the front desk for getting us new towels, reccomending restaurants etc. I liked that they put on different events for the guests leading up to the grey cup game. Con's:
Not enough hooks, spaces etc to put things in hotel room. Closets are small with low rods so your things hang to the bottom. No hotel fridge unless you request ahead of time. No safe in room which resulted in my money and perfume being stolen (not sure at this point who it was but the issue was resolved by the general manager). No vending machines so you must buy from downstairs and a small bottle of water is $4.00. No pool/hottub.

The bartender concocted a delicious non alcoholic drink for me (and a beautiful alcoholised martini for the woman beside me! ) when we gave him permission to be creative. The meal was perfection! The setting was beautiful and fresh, perfect for the event I attended! I love that it is Canadian owned.

Rooms are very clean and well designed. Staff is friendly and always available to make your stay very pleasant. Room with single queen bed is very modern and very well suited for couples. Would highly suggest for a couple's getaway. Double bed rooms are a bit more private, and definitely suited for a family with kids.

Very modern rooms, friendly staff. The rooms have an industrial modern decor and modern fixtures. Lots of lights and electrical outlets. Some of the features and controls are so new that they take a little time to understand, though. Wifi has great coverage and speed. Amenities are easy to access and staff is friendly. Rooms and common areas are diligently cleaned. Soundproofing is quite good. A good choice overall if you're not looking for nostalgia.

Very convenient location, hotel was nice, bed and pillows were super clean and comfy. Washroom had lots of space and bench to sit and dress. I would have given this 4star but no kettle for hot water and not enough garbage bin in the room. However would stay here again and recommend to others.

Urban style hotel at a very convenient location, for work or leisure. Very nice room decor, nicely designed bathroom, bed is very comfortable with good support. Friendly, helpful staffs, and reasonable rates. My major complaint is the in room K-cup machine, for a non-coffee drinker, I would much prefer a simple kettle solution.

No fridge… no microwave… parking sucks… TV signal kept cutting out… small room… window looks directly into the side of another building… housekeeping left our door open all day… no privacy in the bathroom. It was clean and new.

The room was great but lacked a fridge. A quick call to the front desk and one was brought up right away. There was also a bit of noise coming through the vents at night from another room, hopefully that doesn't continue for the rest of our stay. Overall, a great place to stay.

Stayed here 1 night over the Victoria Day weekend with family. The reception area wall was very colourful and beautiful and just something so different. Front desk gentleman was very friendly and helpful and the room/beds and bathroom were both nice but we didn't particularly like the sliding bathroom door. We were able to upgrade to get the breakfast promotion for free (thank you! ) and all the food was delicious and we were able to start our day on the right foot. We also left the hotel and a few hours later realized something was left behind in our room; we called to tell them, came back 20 mins later and the item was at the front desk in a plastic bag ready to be picked up. All I can say is WOW and great great customer service; we were so relieved and appreciated it immensely. This is a great new hotel!

Beautiful hotel with modern decoration, very up to date. The room is very functional and super clean. Really comfortable bed and pillows. The staff are very welcoming and the continental lunch included was very good. Only downside, the bathroom doors don't close completely (it's done like this — wardrobe style with light space between the doors) — I would have put a sliding door instead.
In summary, a great experience, I would return anytime.

We stayed for one night and were delighted by the friendliness of the staff and the chic modern decor. The room was a single queen bed and was very clean and comfortable. My only complaint was the fact that as there is no proper door on the bathroom, privacy is at a minimum with respect to whomever might be in the room. The shower has a glass wall to the main sleeping area further reducing privacy so don't except to keep much from anyone in the room. I stayed with my wife, so this wasn't an issue but I can see how it could be less than ideal for others. Parking is ima structure across the street that is pretty easy to access. Over we enjoyed our stay and would stay again.

We always have such good service, the rooms are spotless, and I love how they have special concern for the environment too! They even gave us sparkling wine for our wedding anniversary! It was very touching to find it with a hand written note and balloons! Great experience!

Had a team meeting in one of the hotel's meeting rooms. It was easy to negotiate with the hotel and the end result was great. Meeting rooms vary in sizes, all come with a smart tv, flip chart and whiteboards. Most of the rooms have floor to ceiling windows. Keurig coffee and tea is always available outside of the meeting room. Catering was easy to arrange as well. All in all, great experience — we'll be back.

Hotel is very clean and has a nice clean sense to it. Although the ceiling in the rooms is just painted cement, the rest of it is very solid and got a modern feel to it. On another, more simple note — bathrooms are very clean and pleasure to spend time in.

This brand new, and modern hotel right in the heart of downtown Ottawa is perfect for travellers who want to be close to a variety of restaurants, the Rideau Center, the Parliament buildings, public transportation (across the street). It is hard to believe for the affordable price of the rooms, the modern chic interior of the hotel which has large spacious showers and comfortable bed. The hotel also has a pool table right beside the bar in the lobby which makes for a fun place to meet friends before heading out into the city.

The ALT hotel in Ottawa is a great centrally located hotel in walking distance of most of the attractions in the city. While the rooms are not giant, they are full of amenities. The hotel has a 24 hour gym and conference rooms plus a great coffee shop and bar in the lobby where there were more non guests than guests.

The hotel is neat and clean. I stayed in the accessible room (the ONLY one in the hotel) and it was well done! The fact the café only has catered food that is reheated, is a huge negative for me on the hotel. Food options are limited by dinner time. Also, hotels should have more than one accessible suite!

Hotel was very nice. Clean and extremely well decorated. Cozy and just wonderful staff. Rooms were small but nice. Everything you needed. Food & beverages were pricy but everything was good. Location is great for anyone who wants a short walk to parliament and lots of options for food or night activities.

Super friendly staff, nice modern rooms (with USB plugs and recycling! ) The matress and pillow are comfortable. Nice bar and restaurant. Good price, well located. The bathroom could have been better: could be more sound proof… and the shower could have a little more pressure. I would go back and highly recommand it!
