Horrible place. Staff were polite when checking in however shower had mold rubbish in cupboard under bathroom sink, cups and saucers dirty, uncomfortable bed with a pillow as thin as a pancake and to top it off there's bugs. I've stayed in far better places that were cheaper… DON'T STAY HERE!

Neat and clean in the town, traffic is very convenient! The staff was nice and the service was great.

Nice building & rooms. Good facilities & luggage storage. Our friends had bed-bugs in bed though and we did not sleep due to the live music club that was right under our room.

This is far most the best hostel I have been. Price/quality wise it cannot be better. Rooms are perfect, have private bathroom and common rooms are kept clean and tidy, since everyone is cleaning after themselves. The best budget hostel you can be at! Definitely recommend anyone who is visiting Launceston or looking for a place to stay long term. Only downside during my stay: Wi-Fi quality was very bad.

Only stay here if you are very desperate and there is no where else to stay in a 100km radius. I found the staff to be useless, everything is not there problem and took no ownership of the problems raised. The main issue was no hot water, try having a cold shower when its only 12 degrees outside. Also my partner is on special bone building medication after breaking a bone in her back last year, when I explained this and said that this was a health issue, still the response was it's not my fault/problem. The only reason I gave it one star was due to the location, but above all else be careful before you stay here.

Stayed there a few years ago! Got there after everyone had left! And they called me and let me know what to do! Really great atmosphere great place to stay! And close to everything! Good staff!

It is by far the cleanest of the many hostels in Launceston. Having a bathroom in each room was welcome. My bed was on the squeaky side and not that comfortable. There was no ladder to the top bunk. That made for some interesting times. Bed comes with a towel, blanket, pillow, and one sheet. Mattress cover needed cleaning/replacing. Kitchen was teeny, but useful. Could use more shelves for food storage. Dishes were at least clean.

Nice economical place. Minimal parking space for visiting. Overall nice place to visit. Staff were very polite and helpful.

It is what it is — budget accommodation. The room was small and the bathroom was old, but the people were friendly and the beds were comfy. No elevator but a quirky old bag lift. Self serve laundry and shared kitchen are convenient. But the best part is the lovely cafe/restaurant downstairs — The Eatery.

Old but nice and clean. Great facilities and location is perfect. Lovely staff. Definetly stay again. Night club right underneath can be noisy but still very good value for money accommodation.

Grand old building now a well run Hostel — the king suite upstairs was clean, comfortable with owner bathroom and had a great full window view of the church opposite — a bonus — kitchen facilities are Ok.

Nice old building located next to the Grand Chancellor Hotel in Cameron Street. They even have a luggage life that still works. Upon checking in on ('believe it or not) on Halloween Day. The receptionist… Emma… offered to rebook another hotel as our room would suffer from the night club noise. We agreed to see how bad it was. Well, the noise reached it's peak at midnight but finished at 1 am. In the morning, Emma was still concerned but we informed her we survived. We asked for late check out which she readily agreed. Emma concern for our welfare is really touching and made our stay acceptable. Well done to Emma.

Definitely value for money! The receptionist was kind and informed us about everything. Rooms were clean and the electric heater worked well. Kitchen area was cozy and huge space in fridge (I assumed it was winter though) Just two things I can give 5 stars-limited car park, noise from nightclub until 23.15pm.

We had exactly the same experience as Al’s review below, I really don’t know how these scamsters are still operating in a country like Australia. I’m just grateful that we got away with all of our luggage unlike some of the unlucky guests in previous reviews. "As you'll be aware your room is right above a nightclub so you might hear some loud dance music from 10pm onwards" the receptionist told us straight after she swiped our credit card. I'm 100% positive that we were not made aware of this previously otherwise we would've booked one of the non-nightclub rooms. 1km later after passing hundreds of seemingly empty rooms (that weren't positioned directly above a nightclub) we arrived at our dungeon at the very end of the hallway. I don't have time to describe the condition of the room but suffice to say, the first convicts at Port Arthur probably enjoyed better living conditions — they weren't subjected to 90s rave music remixed by a tone-deaf DJ whilst they were trying to go to sleep after all. We finally fell asleep at 5am when the “music” came to a halt and subsequently slept through our 7am alarms and missed our Cradle Mountain tour bus. Luckily we woke up at 10am so we were still able to check out of the “hotel” by 11 and get on with our holiday.

Initially seemed nice, but when we checked in we were informed "as you'll already know" (we didn't) that the room is directly above a nightclub. It also wasn't mentioned that checkout was 10am, so when we checked out at 10:30am, we apparently incurred a fine. I say apparently, because it wasn't mentioned at the time, just charged straight to the card once we had left. Other things like tiny bathrooms etc are to be expected for budget accommodation, so I have no problem with that.

Terrible and sneaky. Zero Stars It was pretty much vacant, however, we got shafted to the back most room which was above a club, the lady at the counter let me know this is were our room was after I paid, we were not able to change it unless for an extra cost. She also didn't inform us of the check out rules, and on my credit card I received an added $50 as we checked out after 10am… We were not informed of this when checking in, and we checked at around 10:30, the desk didn't even mention we would be charged extra when we handed back the key. Very sneaky the way they are getting money from backpackers, a bit of honesty and communication would have been nice, instead of just billing to the credit card. Will not be coming back.

The staff is very nice. And the atmosphere is quite relaxed. The large warm kitchen with a big but severely worn sofa is a nice place to be social. In room facilities are just basics and kinda antique. But for the price there is nothing to complain about.

Really nice hostel. Excellent prices. Spacious dorms with a little desk even. Spacious common area with couches and tables for working and stuff. Good Wi-Fi. Great location. Have heard it's noisy on Fridays and Saturdays, but I stayed here on a Sunday night and it was super quiet and pleasant.

Highly recommend staying at Batman Faulkner Inn.

Historic building. Great place to stay, but a bit noisy at night bcs of the bar outside.

Perfect for backpackers. But the creaky building and noise from a club next to it might be hard for anyone to get a really good rest. Overall, best value for money.

The building is really historic and neat and the rooms were clean. Night check-in was only slightly bothersome — we had to go to the pub to ask for the entrance code as was posted on the door to do. The security guards at the pub didn't seem to think of this request as normal but found someone inside the pub to check us in. The lift for our luggage didn't work so we had to carry it up the stairs. Free parking was advertised, but there wasn't enough room for our car so we had to park on the street and wake up before we got a ticket. Although the pub looked rather empty, it's music blasted loudly for hours into the night. We heard it from our room, which was on the other side of the building from the pub. Nice room size and it was nice to have a bathroom in our room.

Stayed in a 2beds bedroom w private bathroom. Very affordable. Good location. Friendly staff. The room needed a serious vacc up though: crumbs of nuts and crisps on the carpet from previous guests.

Top value. Rooms are very affordable for what they are. Stayed in a lot worse for the same price or paid a lot more for the same type of rooms. Ensuite bathrooms are a bonus in the dorm rooms. Also, great common kitchen/living area downstairs. Very good central location to city. For most part, very friendly staff too. I spent 6-7 weeks there while starting a new job and finding a permanent place to live, and it fulfilled my needs.

Beautiful old building, steeped in history. Friendly, helpful staff, Immaculate room and perfect location. We have paid 3 times as much for a 'hotel' room that hasn't been anywhere near as clean or in such close proximaty to a city centre. Highly recommend the Batman Fawkner and will definitely stay again.

Stayed new years eve so didn't have to drive home. Thought it may be a little rowdy with it being that time of year, but slept like a log in a double room that was easily as good as anything you pay big bucks for elsewhere. It was clean and the staff helpful and chatty. Well worth a stay if on a buget.

We had a double private room and it had all the normal things for a motel rather than a hostel (tea, coffee, TV, soap). Comfortable bed and very clean.

Very small room, almost no space to get to the end of the bed. There was a bloodstain on my bed, and the staff forgot to swnd me the email with the code for the safe for late check-in. The Wi-Fi did not work, and there was no help, as I made a late check-in. Thumbs up to the staff though, they where very friendly. The bed was comfy, and the room was quite, might stay there again.

Great budget room for a good price. The only negative was that there was no real common place to sit and meet other travellers.

It is good place, not so cheap but with reasonable prices in dorm rooms, private rooms are too expensive for a backpackers. I recommend everyone this place and also they have free internet Wi-Fi what is very helpful. Two things I don't like are NO AIRCON and kitchen close at 9pm TV room could be better anyway.

I would not recommend this hotel/hostel to anyone. Ever. The room was tiny, dirty and had a horrible smell. The guy on reception was no help at all and in the end we left and stayed elsewhere. If you are planning on staying here inspect the room before you pay, but if I were you I wouldn't waste my time or money.
