Lovely place to stay just a shame there is no foxtel movie Refuse to pay $15.95 for a movie.

The meals we have had from Avenue restaurant have been superb
We have had take away option that's currently on offer more than once and thoroughly enjoyed it each time.

Food from the Avenue restaurant is amazing and great value.

Checked into our hotel room on a Saturday afternoon, went to the room after dinner for the first time that day, room quality was poor, aircon inefficient and extremely noisy. My partner and I had our 10 month old daughter with us and found ourselves checking out at 10pm that night due to the room temperature being extremely hot and noise being excessive. Abrupt staff manager with no offer of a refund for our beds that was not even slept in and maximum of 1 hour spent in the hotel room. At $270 per night I would not recommend. Better staff and room quality at the Colonial for a much cheaper rate!

Welcoming friendly staff that couldn’t do enough for you. Always checked if there was anything else they could do to help. The rooms were clean, tidy & spacious. I would recommend this to anyone traveling through Launceston.

The hotel itself is lovely recent refurb generous sized rooms clean and very well situated BUT.
I am writing this at 3 in the morning, just had to put the air conditioning on and it is awful.
it is like having the loudest washing machine you have ever heard by the side of the bed.
Our friends are in room 6009 we are in 6011, awful and such a shame.

Close to restaurants and all amenities. Friendly staff. Comfortable bed. Quiet rooms too.

A lovely spacious room. Good bed. It was a shame it looked out onto the restaurant roof and the outside noise of air conditioning was a shame.

Made enquiries from Melbourne for a group of 10 celebrating 50th wedding anniversary, was told would not be charged extra for my children who are 15 and 16. Got there and was told it was extra $40 per child. I explained we were never told of this. They were trying to tell me my children are adults. How can a 15 and 16 year old who can’t drink, drive or vote be classified as an adult. But truly the worst part was when the staff at desk Luke and the Manager on Duty Amanda also did not want to reason with me and insisted I had to pay an extra $80. My husband and myself both work in customer service and would never treat our customers the way we were treated here. We will never come here again.

Beautiful Hotel the staff friendly and very helpful.

Very bland and ordinary. Dry flavourless gratin. Not enough in the bowl of dish. On the chicken plate the best thing was the! Nothing more to say. People sitting nearby thought the same. I could teach these chefs a thing or two!

On the 14/1/2019 my wife and I stayed at your Launceston hotel. Well that was a mistake! Our room spelt like cigarette smoke, there was hair in and on our folded towels that didn’t belong to us, and there were portable air conditioner in our room which was too noise to run at night so another useless thing. Would like to know that last time you got the furniture cleaned in the room it was disgusting. The hotel is in serious need of updating and just some general maintenance, fix the central air conditioning, paint work, and invest in some good carpet cleaners!

I would like To express my disappointment in the accommodation. We have come to Launceston for a relaxing holiday and the accommodation is by far very poor and dirty. The air con was a portable air con unit, the shower was dirty and the bed is like a rock. And my wife come across a dirty toilet brush in the hallway of the accommodation. Stay away from this dump All they offered us is a crumby room upgrade and two drinks. stay away from this place at all costs.

Awesome hotel & so cheap! Buffet Breakfast is on the pricey side, but well worth it. Really nice, quality food. Hotel is central to everything. NO free parking? Although, compared to Brisbane, $6 a day is pretty good.

Food was good, but pricey though. We are locals and used our entertainment book voucher which made for an affordable night out. Service was great.

I have stayed in this hotel I have attended seminars and conferences and I have had family work here in years past. I have found them to be excellent in all aspects of service. I would have no hesitation in recommending this place to anyone requiring any of the facilities or expertise they offer.

Dated and run down hotel but reasonable rates considering the condition of the room. There was a standalone air conditioner, like the kind you'd find in the 1980s, but this old technology matched the TV which had the slowest, worst looking interface since Windows 3.1. Front desk staff weren't impolite but they are blunt, they seem keen to just get you in and get you out. Room service menu is limited but the service was fast and the quality was great. Good quality bedding. Close to the CBD. Fine if you're looking for an OK place to stay, look somewhere else if you're after a nice experience.

Would most certainly stay here again. Room was big, bed comfy, very clean and had a nice view of the quaint church across the road. Great location with a back entrance to the mall. Staff were friendly. Lovely bar staff. Buffet breakfast was fantastic. Breakfast room decorated lovely. Quick check in too. Recommended.

Great hotel for a group stay. The hotel coped very well with large groups. The food both breakfast and dinner was very good. Rooms were standard but comfortable. Would appreciate longer opening hours for the laundry.

Definitely book via there website for the best rate. The walk in rate is higher. Close to the city. Easy parking on the street or their next door car park. I enjoyed a good night's sleep here.

Nice and central in Launceston. Beautiful foyer and friendly staff. Our room could have done with a makeover but was comfortable and clean. Would recommend to anyone who wasn't fussy.

Grand old hotel. Probably needs refurbishment, but is keeping up appearances. Good service, rooms fine, good vibe around restaurant and bar. Prices reasonable.

Great place but when are you going to fix the air conditioning. I have been going elsewhere because I cant stand the ridiculous air vents you are putting in the rooms. Wake up. People are not stupid!

‘Simply not worth $200 per night! ’ Look I’m not someone to leave really bad reviews but this one was unavoidable! Staying over Easter with my partner and 6 month old we were hoping for a nice experience, having stayed in similarly priced hotels around Aus. Unfortunately this was not the case… — the room was dirty, human hair on the bed — twin beds even though we requested a king and it was confirmed we were getting one! -The air con was a portable unit which was louder then a bloody diesel generator and had not been cleaned since the 90s! — When you’re paying a premium you expect to have complimentary Wi-Fi, not impressed. -Room service only until 10pm, what’s up with that? — the room looked like it was styled in the 70s during the Cold War, shabby curtains and red carpet, and a TV that would have been nearly as old as me, and forget about pay TV, $17 for a bloody movie! A final note, although the overall experience was very disappointing, the staff were very professional and easy to deal with, especially Luke on the front desk and the staff running the buffet over the weekends.

Looks great from the outside however we were very disappointed with our room. Clean quality Refurnishing but very small, we were on top of each other. Beds so hard and uncomfortable we considered sleeping on the floor We were woken up by TV blaring after turning itself on in the early hours of the morning several times. Would not stay there again as not a great experience for us.

This is our last day here so we made the most of it and have been out since 9 a. M. This morning arrived back to our room at about 3:30 to find our room was still unmade so we go to reception and ask them kindly if they could make-up room while we go out and have something to eat we get back at about 5 o'clock and only beds have been made it is now 6:15 and I am still waiting for clean towels three times I've had to ask reception for clean towels, clean cups, coffee, sugar, and soap. Bad bad service wouldn't recommend.

Lovely old hotel centrally located. Our luxury accommodation had a stand alone Air conditioner. Breakfast was my included in the price. There was no safe in the room.

Nice hotel with good restaurant. I would add pool and remodel the windows of the building as they did not close well and entered water by rain.

I recently stay at The Grand Chancellor in Launceston for 2 nights (25-27/01/18) The location was great, close to all amenities. The room is large but not comfortable for the price. There’s a lot of room for improvement such as the pillow, the air conditioner need to be upgrade (portable and very loud) and here is a lot of dust in the carpet, especially near the wardrobe sitting area.

Great location, refurbished rooms. Clean and spacious with comfortable beds. Cons are: 1. Portable air-con is noisy; 2. Overhead shower only, no hand shower, so you can hardly keep your hair dry even with shower cap on; 3. Parking costs $6 per car per day.

Room wasn't what I expected, but it was nice. Didn't like the fact that the TV was locked to certain channels and a Payperview service. Air-conditioning was old school, but cool. Bathroom was a bit odd with the door blocking the toilet. Overall it was easy to book, stay and leave. 4/5

Elegant charming boutique hotel. Excellent accommodation. Restaurant and bar exemplary. Marvellous food selection from 5 Star to kid's menu. Please note having been fortunate to dine in many 4 star plus hotels the Hotel Grand Chance is the third hotel I have encountered which had HP Brown Sauce as a standard condiment. Outstanding.

Improvements can be noticed and the service is alright but the cleaning standards are below are 4-star hotel. The toilet paper holder falls off easily and dust is left to collect along the floor corners where it meets with the baseboard. The bathroom vent needs cleaning as it cannot keep up with clearing the vapor from the shower and fogging up the mirror.

If u r looking for a peaceful sleep room 5014 is not the one when the portable aircon is on. If u open the window for fresh air be prepared for some aroma coming out from some restaurants below. Otherwise a room is a room.

Rooms neat but old. Stated were upgraded to a newly renovated room, not sure when it was renovated maybe mid 90's. Staff professional and polite. Nothing wrong with the place but get the rooms on special. Great Central location. Great farmers market on the weekend across the road.

Stayed in an Executive King room. Almost didn't get it as when I went to book someone booked the last room from underneath me! The lady in Reservations was amazing and was able to still get me a room. She matched the price too. So comfortable, clean, and chic. I will be definitely staying here for my next business trip.

Good location. Hotel is a bit tired. Can be noisy if you have a room facing the church.

Clean and well maintained rooms. I recommend visiting the eatery (next door) for breakfast in the morning which is half the cost and has a nicer atmosphere.

Hands-down the ONLY place to stay when in Launceston. The rates vs the opulence of this hotel is something that has to be experienced to be believed. Exceptionally well appointed rooms make for a very comfortable stay indeed. Right in the heart of the city and close to everything, making it the perfect location for your exploration of Launceston and surrounds. Very professional and friendly staff, and the food from the restaurant is absolutely delightful.

Nice hotel. Clean modern facilities. Breakfast was good value at the price. Bit disappointed in the Wi-Fi offerings — only a very small free offering, anything more would be quite expensive. This would have been normal 5 years ago, but is not what I expect today at these prices.

Parking $6, Wi-Fi $24.50 a night, no pleasant views. The $36 steak my wife received at their restaurant was dreadful and the first time we have ever had to make a complaint. Room was adequate and the bed was excellent.

Great service, key wasn't working was fixed later and some drinks were offered on the house.

Of the dozen stays I've had, the service and standards have been consistently high. Yes the building is a little dated but this adds to the charm. Great location, close proximity to many Launceston sights. At Christmas time you can enjoy the carols from the nearby park.

Attended a black tie dinner. Very old worldly building which suited the event. Wait staff were attentive. Lovely decorations especially for the event. Reasonable food.

They were really nice when I wanted a taxi. I have previously stated there multiple times and the services have been excellent particularly the catering. (Breakfast was really good)

Stayed there 8/2/15 the aircon was a small floor unit (same through out the motel) that only worked for about 30 minutes of our hot over night stay, then blew hot air, it made about the same level of noise to a electric drill whilst going, a noise to loud to take for hours on end Spoke to 3 other couples leaving and they had the same issues. lol did have a great free brekky but wasn't worth the stay to get it. The only air we could get to the room was by opening the top half of the window, a gap of about 150mm/6" Hotel Chales or Peppers are much better hotels.

The hotel staff and facilities are good overall, nothing special for the money. The room, services and bed were all good but starting to look a little old. The location and ease of access are great, the hotel has a rear link to a little arcade to city shops, nice.

Excellent old world feel (almost) meets new-age convenience. Fantastic location short stroll away from City Park. Like most hotels these days, an upgrade from wired internet to Wi-Fi would be nice for today's ipod/ipad using customers. And free overnight parking would be good as well considering how big the car park is. Breakfast buffet was the best ever. Well spread out and excellent value for money (build a good appetite! ).

Overall, it was a good experience. We stayed in a room at the front of the hotel and at about 11pm the pub a couple of doors along started up its music and it ended around 2.30am. We rang reception and asked for another room but were told that they would all be as noisy! A couple of days later I did write a letter to the General Manager giving my feedback and requesting a reply. Unfortunately I still don't have a reply, which is very poor customer relations.

Good location, the new rooms are nice. A few small cons: parking's pretty crowded at peak times, the laundry's only one machine (two if they're both working) and one dryer, and the lighting in the room is fairly dim. Oh, and some inconsiderate guest was smoking in a neighbouring room — in the non-smoking hotel — but that's hardly the hotel's fault. Reception was fine — friendly and helpful.
