Stayed two nights. Lovely room. Staff were all pleasant and helpful. Buffet breakfast was great. Recently refurbished, window frames are in need of work say and case are a bit ropey. Overall very happy with central location.

The location is great for sure, everything you need and want is within a 10 minutes walking distance. The service was reasonable, what you'd expect at a hostel over a hotel though. Rooms were okay, though it was quite warm when we stayed (unusually to be fair) and a fan would have been nice to have an easier sleep. The bed was below average; the springs were easily felt while lying down. Breakfast was pretty good, a decent selection of warm and cold foods and drinks. Overall, it was a slightly below average experience!

Great hotel, great breakfast room: it's like a castle. Downtown nearby. Only black spot: paying public parking.

Quite nice hotel. Excellent location half block from Central Station and pretty close to the city centre. The staff was really attentive and helpful. Full English every morning and delicious biscuits in the room. The lift was a bit moody though, but it was just a minor detail. Stayed there a second time this year and had the same experience. Really comfortable rooms, they added a spare bed for a friend at very low cost. Staff is friendly and ready to help. Only thing, old tap system in the shower makes it difficult to combine hot and cold water. But I'd keep coming every year!

We are staying here for a couple of days. The check in service was awful. The receptionist was just going through the paces. Completely unhelpful and indifferent to us being there. The lobby smelt of vomit which is horrendous. The room is clean but needs a fresh coat of paint. It currently sounds like an elephant has checked into the room above as the floor boards are making an enormous racket. Breakfast has yet to be experienced.

Basic hotel in a good location for city centre attractions. Room was large but shower took ages to drain. TV channels were in a strange order too and no guide as to what channel was on what number. There was a big queue at check in with problems regarding payments. The breakfast was not very good. There was plenty of fried food but not much healthier options to choose from. This is Scotland, they should at least provide porridge!

In the city centre. Attached to the central station. On foot you reach the shopping streets and parks on the river Clyde. Breakfast Amplie Salt. Friendly staff. Clean bathroom and room with all the comfort accessories. Price OK. I would say top for a 3 star.

I do not know what of some or some of them the most can go on the bus as soon as possible we will be reporting the unit of measure I've seen before the.

This was the first time I stay at Alexander Thomson. I stayed there for 6 nights. I had a great experience. The room is very clean, the shower is good and the Tv is HUGE, and I really loved that. Their breakfast is really good (classic English breakfast). The lift is just very slow and the room I stayed in was was a little small but the view from the window was great. I really enjoyed my stay.

When we checked in, we received really good service. The rooms are a bit dated but it has a good location. Coming back to the hotel after a concert was a nightmare. The guy on reception was incredibly rude because we arrived back at different times. You only get one room "key" so when I explained I was back later than person I was sharing with, he explained that I could "sleep in the foyer" and couldn't understand why I wasn't happy with this. Extremely rude and unprofessional and spent most of night arguing with him until I eventually got into the room.

Room was clean, comfortable and well stocked with hot drinks and bottled water. Ideally situated, in the city centre, close to the stations and shopping malls. Breakfast was good. Hot and cold. Drinks. Cold selection such as breads, cereals and meat, jam and cheese as expected as well as hot items; bacon, sausage, egg, hash brown, potato scone, beans & mushrooms. There are also spicy potato slices and something which I think must be a type of baked French toast? The eggs were too hard for my taste, as I like runny yolks, but for the price, well worth the stay. Overall, good, comfortable, budget stay.

Overall good! Great Scottish Breakfast! The room was definitely in need of renovation and the curtains had stains, also the ceiling light was somewhat cool and uncomfortable. But the hotel had quite its charm. I would stay there again.

Polite staff. Room was basic and clean. The bathroom was clean apart from something splashed up the tiled wall at the side of the toilet. Very local and in good walking distance for shops and restaurants.

Good for a budget place. Comfortable bed and buffet breakfast. No on-site food options for later however. Partly refurbed in terms of carpets and curtains, but some of the facilities/items have definitely seen better days. Good location! 10min walk to most transport links.

Very nice hotel huge room and bed. Huge building with original features. Staff very helpful. Breakfast was good enough.

Stayed in first tloor room. Was expecting it to be noisy as I was at the front. Was lovely and quiet. Room was clean and comfortable and had a decent breakfast. At the price I payed I think I got a bargain. So central. I will be back.

For two three nights okay. Breakfast buffet extensive. Centrally.

Spacious rooms. Friendly staff. Great buffet breakfast hit and cold. Morning traffic was a slight problem with noise when I wanted a lie in.

Booked here in Nov 2017 and was pleasantly surprised. Checked in at 2pm with my wife and found that we had a newly refurbished room. Had a large double bed tae and coffee making facilities a couch and a 40" led telly on the wall. Sleep was good and the bed was comfy. In the morning we went downstairs fir the included breakfast which was help yourself to a very comprehensive feast. Al in Al a very positive experience and good value.

Good breakfast with lots of choices, unfortunately not much else going for them. Lobby looked run down, lift was sketchy and the bed was terribly uncomfortable. Would've had a better night's sleep on a roll away bed. Or a mortuary table. The TV and toilet both had trouble working properly. It was nice to have a room so close to the train station but it is a pretty seedy part of town.

Efficient staff, clean, very reasonable a bit noisy as room was on main road at traffic light crossing. Breakfast was sufficient didn't go hungry. But you get what you pay for. Near plenty shops and central station. Would stay there again if in Glasgow in the area.

Great hotel for the price very central to train and argyle street so plenty bars shops and restaurants near by. Rooms very clean and warm breakfast was very good plenty to choose from.

Friendly staff. Has a lift. Offers non smoking rooms though walking through a smoking area to get to ours was not great. Offers discount on parking garage. Within walking distance of several shopping areas.

Just spent a few nights at the hotel. Very helpful, welcoming staff. Room was adequate and clean and the bathroom was almost band new. Free toiletries were provided and towels were changed every day. Also provided were bottles of water, tea/coffee and biscuits. There was free Wifi throughout the building. Full Scottish breakfast buffet was included in the room rate… and it also included fresh fruit. Architecturally, it's a very interesting building. Obviously a place of grandeur in former years and must cost the hotel's owners a fortune on maintenance. Don't particularly like that part of Argyle street but it's just a stone's throw from the Central Station and for the price, this hotel is ok.

Convenient downtown location and that is about it. Bathroom was rough and room not much better. Clean though and adequate for a night. Breakfast was OK.

The blonde receptionist seemed to care more about her phone than me entering through the front door. (Not exactly welcoming). The parking was absolutely atrocious, not even free but they give you a voucher that gives you 50% off. The rooms were ok but smelt of smoke and my bathroom had a toilet so close to the door the door would hit it and not open all the way. My shower head was also broken, all cracked and falling apart. Luckily I was only there for one night, if not I'd be finding somewhere else. The bed was very uncomfortable, woke up with a sore back and the noise from the street was definitely not helpful, even with a closed window it was still loud The breakfast in the morning though very accommodating, the sausages were as hard as rocks and the tomatoes were not at all fresh. Overall lacking in care but it was definitely a "get what you pay for" hotel.

Room smelled of smoke and bed not comfortable. Woman on reception seemed disinterested and a bit rude in comparison to other staff. Wi-Fi in my room was inconsistent. Arguably you get what you pay for and I would probably opt to pay a bit more in the future for a more comfortable room in a different hotel.

Room and toilet is very spacious though room wall is a bit sparse and old looking. Great location to Central Station, Argyle Shopping St, with sightseeing city bus stop across the street at Radisson blu hotel. Overall, good value for the price paid.

Good, central location. Many restaurants and pubs nearby. Easy access to public transport (Central Station just a few 100m away). Well-kept rooms. Good breakfast.

Decent room but no air conditioning and was cold one minute and earn the next. Bath also had black mould. All in all was decent, free bottles of water and usual tea/coffee stuff. Breakfast was a buffet style breakfast and was more than decent enough.

Central location near the train stations. Building dated but completely renovated. Plenty of breakfast.

The location was good and the room is a decent size. The staff were not very welcoming and we could hear the people in the rooms next to us plugging in things and talking (they werent being excessively loud). We expected some noise being that its on a busy street, however we were still surprised at how much traffic and street noise we could hear. Sleep was near impossible.

Very nice people, they made me feel welcome. A home away from home. My tiny room had A SPECTACULAR VIEW!

First time we stayed in December 2016 the hotel was really good for the price we paid. Although it was dated we were given a large room and it seemed clean. It was a worthwhile stay. However we stayed again in July 2017 and were given a tiny room which was really disappointing all round. Firstly, the sink leaked water all over the bathroom floor and the toilet seat had cracks. Decided to try out the iron but soon learned that it leaked water right out of the cable which is a major fire hazard! It was hard to believe this was the same hotel we had stayed in a few months back. The staff are very nice however seemed like they couldn't care less that the iron was really faulty (maybe this is something that happens a lot).

Standard room, bed a double so used to bigger, but was comfortable. Telly and free water. Good city centre location, but a bit loud at night, plus it was hot so had to keep the window open. Buffet breakfast was decent, and in a very nice room, the hotel has a nice Rennie Mackintosh / Highland asthetic. You get a little bit more than your £50 per night might otherwise get, and you're right next to Glasgow Central.

Very small room.

When I first arrived, I wanted to leave. The reception area is grungy, the rooms are falling apart, the neighbourhood is noisy, and no parking available so had to park in a tower on the other side of the subway station. But we stayed and the next morning, the breakfast hall was ornate and beautiful. Very surprising.

Excellent value city centre stay, clean and quite rooms. Staff are friendly and if booking more than one room they really try their hardest to accommodate. Breakfasts are always lovely and plenty to choose from. It may have a 3star but for all the reasons I mentioned above I'm giving it 5 for them and the efforts by staff.

Acceptable for a city break over the weekend. Very narrow corridors, heavy rugs, more bad than right beds and pillows. Depending on the layer you felt also not as a welcome guest, but as a necessary evil. The breakfast can be made regional and continental, the buffet is filled up early.

I stayed here twice. The first time was a three star experience and the second was one star, thus I have averaged the two. The hotel itself is dark and confusing to navigate at times. The first time I stayed was pretty unremarkable, bare bones rooms with a depressing vibe. The second time I stayed (one week later) there was a strong sulfur odor in my bathroom, a toilet that wouldn't properly flush (had to call maintenance) a *** stain on my bed (I have a picture of this) very weak shower pressure, broken bathroom faucet that would randomly spray water everywhere, odd sticky substances on bathroom floor, the list seriously goes on. I did not feel that I was staying in a clean place. Dirty + distant and mediocre service + Windows that either don't open or don't keep out any sound = generally unpleasant experience. Yes it is close to the train but I will do my best not to come back. I would give it one star but I feel like that should be reserved for finding a dead body in the closet or something.

We Didn't get a friendly welcome at front desk upon arrival. It wasn't unfriendly but just an acknowledgement of us stood there, pointed to the lifts and that was that. The room had a door to the room next door, not a problem, but theory hole to this door was stuffed with toilet paper. The gap underneath the door was about an inch. We just didn't feel as if we were in our private room. Coming out of the hotel we went the wrong way in the corridors several times. There are quite a few corridors but no signs back to the lifts. The double bed had two small pillows (one each) on it. They were uncomfortable, I'm used to hotels offering two pillows a person so no can make the decision. There were several more small things that just led to me and my partner not having a pleasant time.

Nice breakfast room, friendly folks, but the older rooms beds are not great. They offered me a better room upon return though, which was friendly!

I hadn't stayed in this hotel for a number of years. As a result I'd forgotten how good it is. Rooms are in reasonable state and I had a good night sleep. The location is excellent for Central Station.

Two minute walk from Glasgow central station, less than 5 to Argle Street for lots of shopping, Room was very nice and clean. Breakfast was great :)

I have recently booked this hotel, and neede some information on directions, but the reception said they werent from Glasgow and so couldn't help,,, not a good start. Will give a review after stay,

Nice clean spacious room, good price and breakfast the next day!

The Wi-Fi was awful as only able to connect once for only 5 mins. There was a leak in our room, the floor was soaked. Stain on the unused towel, pillow and duvet was stained with a pink substance and the shower curtain had brown stains on it. The lift took a long time to come and often missed out your floor and went straight past it. Bed made a horrible loud noise, like springs were popping everytime you moved and my fellow traveller has had to buy heat patches as the bed has made her have serious back pain. There was a horrible stench coming from the bathroom, this was the toilet water (even before we had used it) the which stank up the whole room. On a good note, breakfast was really lovely, nice looking rooms and only a 5 min walk from the town centre, easy access to shops, restaurants and a car park.

PLEASE DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY! The receptionist did not have a warm welcoming tone, nor did he seem bothered whats so ever. We had to change rooms as they gave us a twin room instead of the standard double bed That we booked. The second room was tacky as much as the first one. A hole in the bathroom door, the window wouldn't stay open, the lights did not work, so we just used the lamps And dampness on the ceiling. It was That bad we checked out a few hours later. Such a Bad experience.

Nice room with clean everything. Good selections for breakfast. Great location.

Generous rooms with high ceilings. A few steps from the main shopping streets. Some items such as insulation or even some technical details (shower leaking) could be improved. Excellent value for money.

The welcome from the asian woman on reception was non existent, the room had a strange smell which we couldnt fathom, no clear directions were given to us to locate our room, the shower was passable, but the actual cooked breakfast was the worst ive had in many a long day no better than bog standard, the departure was like the welcome non existent, the only plus was its location next to glasgow central station, overall the stay at this hotel put a dampener on what was a great night out, the staff we encountered were frosty and not the least bit welcoming and they didnt seem to be enjoying what they were doing, we wont be returning anytime soon.

Avoid this hotel like the plague. We were met by a receptionist chewing gum and she was very unhelpful The whole place is in need of a refurb, the decor is outdated, makeshift bathroom curtain, 2inch gap under the main door. The breakfast was cold, the lift took longer than to walk from the 3rd floor. Wouldn't stay here again.

Good location, breakfast provided along with toiletries, a kettle, cookies in the room along with tea and coffee. The only problem was the lift as it is pathetically slow but they have a large major staircase. Would not recommend this hotel to the elderly, frail or to those who have mobility needs and cannot cope with multiple flights of stairs. The lift functions but can take up to 5 minutes to reach your floor. Aside from that the hotel was good.

Quite near to train station with cheap price. Nice environment and food. Wifi is not good in room but you are free to access internet in rest bar. It gives me a good impression of Scotland as my first visit of it.

A hotel with good location, Argyle street a main shopping street. Radisson blu is diagonally opposite, this hotel blends with the English architecture while Raddison stands out like a modern art. Central station is a stone's throw and George square is walking distance. Once inside the hotel you have very friendly and helpfull staff and every morning started with a great scottish breakfast and served with a big hearted hospitality true of the owner from the land of five rivers. Neat, clean rooms, toiletries, free Wi-Fi, bottled water, coffee, tea. Only advice is lounge should have a LCD too and a more subtle decor. A special thanks to A. P. Singh, Gagan, Lalli and everyone.
