This hotel used to be the “it” hotel to go to. They broke in my car as well as 7 other people cars last night or more. I was told this happens all the time here. The hotel manager does nothing but says, “I’m sorry” and they do an incident report. I will never stay at this hotel again.

Do NOT stay here! We stayed in this hotel in March and it was fine otherwise, nice room, quiet, clean, etc Well we paid for valet parking for overnight parking, which was not cheap, but that’s ok we expect that with valet. Our car was not stolen or defaced and was safe overnight. Well a few weeks later we got a parking ticket in the mail for $90 for wherever hotel valet parked our car overnight. My fiancé called the hotel and gets someone who doesn’t speak English as their first language that says we have to call back at 3:30 today after last night being told we have to call back between 9 and 5 today. Just the runaround and you’ll end up paying valet + a parking ticket too!

Very disappointed the the service here! We paid to leave our truck here while we went to the Texans game, only to return to have it broken in to and everything taken! The desk clerk was very uncaring and told us they were aware of break in issues at the hotel. Someone should have told us before we left it here! No cameras either. We are out thousands of dollars and the management wouldn’t even comp our room!

Looked nice the staff after 2100 I felt like I was bothering them. Also I didn’t the little airplane bottles were 8 fn dollars a piece. The curtain in the pulled right off the window. Had two half inch screws holding a 25’ curtain the mounting bracket had screw holes for 6. Their was also wall paper folding back from water damage and you could see black mold.

This hotel Derek in Houston is rated 4-5 star on line. The photos on line make the hotel look very nice and in good condition. When you are there in person it's old, dirty, the elevators did not work properly. The rooms were small and the beds were small enough to fit an 8 or 9 yr old kid. The customer service was horrible and the front desk clerk was rude and not kind at all. The parking is also very far and you have park far and carry your own bags and you still have to pay a big fee per day or you can do vallet but it's even more. This hotel must do very fake way of marketing. They make the hotel look big and plush and fancy. However ; the bars they advertised were not even open and you could not view them or go inside at all. The hotel had plastic coverings/ construction and trash when you got off the elevator. Don't ever go there. Once I arrived in person I was told I was going to have an additional 800$ to cover if anything was damnaged and I would not get my Money back for at least 7-14 days after my stay even if I did not do any damage to the room fee although the rooms were 300 a night.

They charge to use microwave $25 per day and they charge to valet park $25 per day. Small TV in the room.

They need to update their rooms and hire a more thorough cleaning crew. I was very disappointed.

This place is in need of some serious renovations! I understand Covid— — but I can’t understand the filth of the room. I truly feel like I paid 1100 for this! This location should be paying me for staying here. Management please!

This was a fun, unique hotel experience when it was opened. To remain fun and unique, things have to evolve and progress. The Derek is just a faded, threadbare, under-staffed, poorly executed attempt at boutique hospitality. The front desk staff is bored and disinterested. The poor guys working as parking valets are stuck with an inefficient traffic flow and a poorly located garage. What is labeled as a restaurant could easily be replaced by three vending machines and a microwave—a cup of coffee before 8:00am is not possible. Four days in a hotel without any housekeeping. You have to ask for fresh towels, replacement rolls of bathroom tissue, soap, and shampoo—but they don’t tell you this at check-in. It’s more like summer camp. Truly an unfortunate experience.

The staff was not helpful. The room was dirty, random hair in the bed. Dirt in the bathroom. Amenities were charged with a fee. No breakfast Offered. The fridge was tiny and full of overcharged items. There was no microwave. Parking was expensive and a hike. The guests were very loud and disruptive all night. You cannot reach the front desk because the machine says there are 20 odd calls ahead of yours. I did not have a blow dryer in my room and when I requested it at the front desk they said they would send it up, it took hours. I checked out a night early due to disruptive guests. I was not asked why I left early or offered any help.

The only thing good about the Hotel Derek is the staff. The clientele has gone down hill like much of the Galleria area. We were surrounded by weed smoke and it was very hard to distinguish from skunk. Jovanna at the front desk was aw a some and the bartenders in the restaurant were interesting conversationalist.

Had an amazing stay last night. From the friendly valet and the amazing help from the front desk. Had the perfect romantic night. Will definitely be back soon!

The hotel is beautiful! It’s in the galleria area, and the Atmosphere is gorgeous! Hotel Derek is the place to visit, Especially for people who visit Houston…

First off let’s start by saying this was the worst hotel experience I’ve ever had in my 39 years of life. I planned my daughter’s bday gathering at Hotel Derek which let me mention I don’t feel like this is a kid friendly hotel upon arriving at check-in time there prostitutes & drunk people walking throughout lobby and pool area; pool closed at 8 pm. There was an incident with a drunken man at pool area where kids were. I was harassed by parking attendant when I paid to park ; threaten to have my car towed. Hotel ran out of towels, there was no pool towels… waited over 20 minutes for towels when getting out of pool then even worse no towels available to take shower when got out of pool. Pool area is small and not heated, water was extremely cold and it was hot out. Upon checking out there was a open bottle of “Hennessy” half full & spilled in elevator. I’m so disgusted in this hotel I won’t ever go back.

No! Nothing special about this hotel looks like a regular room at any other hotel! No housekeeping on the weekends no one to bring fresh towels are straighten up the room like a normal hotel! They hold $200 because they have these snacks and drinks priced up in your room! I’ve never seen nothing like it! No fancy bathroom! I like nice nice room the golden nugget has this hotel beat! Never again! The pool wasn’t open! it was my birthday weekend I wanted to relax by the pool no discount was given because of that! Never again I was so disappointed.

I didn’t like it because it didn’t have free breakfast. The rooms didn’t have a microwave, and the refrigerator is full of they stuff that If u drink they gone charge u and arm and a leg. The rooms or nice other than that, but it’s over priced to me, I won’t be returning.

There were so many things I loved that were so different they incorporated the Texas feel with modern décor and so much more they knocked it out of the park I will definitely stay there again and the hospitality Was outstanding.

Our experience was horrible y’all housekeepers taking food out the basket and charging us for it when we didn’t touch it rooms were dirty fat dude at the counter was rude asf and it’s so many hidden fees I will never go back.

A hotel should never charge guests for parking in a garage that BELONGS TO THE HOTEL! The rooms are the size of an upscale Motel 6 room. The breakfast was not complimentary and looking for parking was ridiculous even after you paid for it. I'll stick to spending my money at The Embassy Suites!

Not worth the money at all way over priced, dirty, and in disrepair. Windows were filthy. Purchased a special package that they seemed to keep forgetting about, not to mention we were promised valet parking to be included it was not. Room wasn't cleaned well bed was torn on the edges. Seems like they'd put some of the high cost and fees back into maintenance and repair but that clearly hasn't happened in many years. In a hotel where one whole wall is windows in each room window washers would be a very good investment I would imagine. Took us over three hours to find the champagne and chocolate that was supposed to be delivered to our room as part of the package we ordered.

We stayed in hotel Derek for 13 nights, it was the worst ever! It took us 50 minutes to check in after a 21 hour flight, because they couldn’t find our booking, the rooms are unclean they never cleaned the room they only change towels. Other than that the rooms are very noisy and when we called to complain they asked to change rooms at 2am! The front desk is a mess and extremely rude I have never seen like that before. I will never recommend this hotel. I can’t explain how uncaring the staff are.

TWO STARS: If you are looking for customer service or a luxury hotel, look elsewhere. The staff needs training on how to communicate with guests in a professional manner, in a way that high end hotels would expect. There is also a lack of communication between staff. We purchased a hotel package that should’ve included parking, champagne, and breakfast. We were charged separately for each item, breakfast order was wrong, and had to call and remind the hotel to bring champagne. To claim the hotel is on par with other luxury hotels in Houston is a farce.

The rooms have a great retro 70s appearance, even though it is right next to 610, the highway noise is stifled. The bed. The bed was perfect, and that is a huge thing for me to say. They had about 5 different types of pillows on the bed to begin with, but the direction the ac blew from the duct, coupled with the perfect firmness of the bed, made the night awesome.
Location is perfect for the Galleria area, easy in and out. Parking is extra, but whatever, it's that way with every hotel now.
Bar is great, but they were missing any sort of selection on Irish whiskey. Food was better than above average. Really no need to go out.
It's in my top two for the area.

I stayed here last year and it was so awesome I booked for 4 days this year while I’m here for a dance instruction certification and licensure (and will be back in November for a few days). Unfortunately this year has been nothing but a headache.
Strike 1:
I decided to self park, on arrival (10pm) I discovered a sign on the outside elevators stating that they were renovating, and to call a number for a golf cart to come and pick me up. The phone was busy for 15 minutes so I… got sick of waiting and dragged my luggage down from the 3rd level to the lobby. Strike 2:
Tonight when I got back, once again I tried to self park but after waiting for 20 minutes to get thru to the valet line I got back in my car and decided to valet. The hotel did offer to let me pay self parking prices instead of valet prices. Strike 3:
After 8 hours of dancing, I was assigned homework and a take home exam, unfortunately again for me when I got to my floor I heard several dogs barking. I think nothing of it hoping that I won’t be able to hear it in my room but I was wrong… lucky for me the guests on either side of me were clearly not in their rooms because their dogs were barking NONSTOP. I called down to the front desk and they admitted that they ‘accidently’ put several guests with dogs on the same floor. I demanded a new room. When the bellhop came to help me even he admitted that the noise in the hallway alone was extremely obnoxious… it sounded like a damn kennel.

The staff were very nice. But, very hard to find. It is a 1 or 2 man crew at night. No one answers the front desk phone. The rooms and hallways are old and run down. The tubs are small and old; with tiny old shower heads. The toilet leaked all over the floor into a puddle. It was draining out from the handle. We were told queen size beds and we found they are small double beds. And with 2 teens in this little bed, it was a nightmare. There is a large orange couch in the room but it was filthy. We didn’t even want to sit on it. It was the kind of room that makes you feel uncomfortable to touch anything. I usually always read the customer comments and this time I did not and what a mistake I made. Never again. We were suppose to stay 3 nights but we checked out first thing in the morning. Very disappointing experience!

Nice staff, nice lobby and dining. Rooms are eclectic, many items available for purchase in room. The bathroom was outdated at its core but covered up with decor. Bed was good, sheets a little stiff/rough, overall solid stay. I would stay again.

Very elegant hotel. Not your typical room layout. They're also very pet friendly but they charge you extra if you have pets. There is a pet potty area outside on the ground floor for near the entrance of the hotel for dogs to do their business. The restaurant was very good with a great staff but VERY pricey in my opinion. That's one of the marks against the hotel I gave. They have several choices of discounts to get as you check in. But they didn't allow you to use multiple discounts. They also charge for both valet and self parking. So they get extra money from you one way or another.

Room service is great. An older/mature female, African American bartender with a name that's hard to pronounce, is extremely rude to younger attractive women that visit the bar. She cashes out your drink before asking if you are staying there, ready to pay, or would like another drink if you look younger than 35. Out of my 8 visits there, she was the lead bartender 4 of those times, and had a horrible attitude EACH TIME! Mike is a great bartender, she is not. She is nice to older mature gentlemen but is very aggressive and pushy to young women that appear to come to the bar alone. Other than her, the hotel and staff are great.

Rude room service and cleaning staff, dirty bathrooms and outdated rooms. So many hidden fees and up charges. Lobby and pool smelled so strongly of marijuana, we had two small kids with us so that’s not good at all. Loud music during the night, you hear everything. Went to eat dinner and nothing they show online is available only a small in room dining menu. The server even looked at the one we saw online and said it had been over a year since they had it. Asked to upgrade our room to be put in the exact same room for a higher price. The whole place is just a let down, not luxury or nice like they portray online. Way better hotels near by! And the security and room service are just awful, they yelled get out of the pool when it closed and stood there glaring at us while we rushed two small children out and could barely even dry off. So we dripped all the way through the lobby. The nicest people there are the valets!

We enjoyed our stay at The Derek thanks to Raven. Her customer service was above and beyond and she made our stay a great experience despite the inconveniences we had. The atmosphere is upbeat and the decor is very chic. Chris in the bar area was also a very friendly and attentive person.

This place looks amazing, the room was very clean. My problem was the shower, within 5 min the tub was about a foot deep. You are showering in your own dirt. I checked in the night before pretty late. So I spoke to management they said the could get me a new room. But we were in a rush to leave in the morning. The guest next to me also claimed the same problem. Let me clarify they did offer me a new room to take a shower. I was just in a hurry to leave. Be aware that valet and self parking is pretty high.

I’ve stayed at Hotel Derek many times, and I know I’ll stay here again in the future. The pool is small and set in a weird spot… but the customer service is exceptional and the rooms Are decent. The bathtub/showers could use some cleaning and new hardwire.

Buyer beware! Reservations clerk gives you one rate over the phone, then you get here and they make you sign for an additional fee! We were told we were eligible for an upgrade, but then they waited until 10 pm to notify us, and do not even help us move. After waiting for almost an hour, we have to go pick up the keys at the front desk, where we’re promised a much larger room with a view of the Galleria. So we pack ourselves up and move to this “upgraded room” only to find that it is the same exact room except with a dirty toilet and a leak! So, we call and tell them what’s going on and they said okay. So we pack up and go back to our “basic” room! This place is a joke. Don’t waste your money.

Room was clean. A lot of hidden charges. Parking for guests had no discounted rate. Entrance and exit to hotel sucked. Room cleaners took my food items. They were returned later after half of them being eaten. Will not stay here again. Avoid if you can. Even on Expedia they charged additional fees outside of the rate.

This hotel wasn't bad. They charge for everything (parking and a service fee when you use your card @ check in). The room is nice and roomy.

I wish I could give this place no stars. I witnessed horrible behavior from the front desk. A woman in particular, (short, lighter skinned maybe African American) lied to a girl who had booked the hotel beforehand. It was her prom night, and she said that the girl would not graduate if she stayed at the hotel that night. Because she would “give her name to the principal. ” Luckily the girl was smart enough to ask her school beforehand to make sure there wasn’t any violation. Even if she didn’t, her and I both knew it was a bold faced lie. As far as what the girl told me, she was 18 and it was only her and her date staying the night. I hope their night wasn’t ruined after being told to go to the motel across the street. Another point is that the hotel disabled one of the elevators for prom, forcing many guests and prom goers to walk down flights of stairs. My only question for Hotel Derek would be, why host a prom if you aren’t going to be hospitable? Such a disappointment.

Cool place with unique decor, but the room for a wedding reception was far too over-crowded and packed for the headcount. For the same reason they needed more bartenders and servers. Parking was WAY over-priced! Doubt I'll ever find a reason to come back here.

I reserved a room for my cousin's wedding day so that they could get ready, take photos, and spend their wedding night. Early check-in is based on day of availability and isn't ever a guarantee. We weren't able to secure an early check-in over the phone, but upon arriving 90 minutes before the ceremony to get the bride dressed Taylir and Angel saved the day. They immediately jumped on finding us any room just to make sure we were going to make the ceremony on time and dressed. They went above and beyond to ensure my cousin's wedding went off without a hitch. It was the perfect location from all that's around in the Galleria. The level of customer service from Hotel Derek makes the reservation well worth going with the boutique hotel and forgoing all of my loyalty program hotels. The bride was stunning and I'm so grateful to the amazing women at Hotel Derek for helping my family celebrate the joyous occasion.

Such a nasty hotel. No idea how they are still getting $300 plus a night!? Before we even walked into the dirty lobby we passed a few hookers, HPD was across the street watching them like it was the norm, then we go up the elevator to our room the elevator had a stench, the hallway that led to our room had the strongest smell of marijuana… The room was filthy dirty, looked like it had been partied hard over and over again for years by no telling who?! The bathroom was disgusting we walked right in and right back out no way in the world I could of slept in that bed! I didn't even want to set my purse down… we had a balcony suite but the balcony was a joke with no seating … We were kindly offered another room on a different non marijuana filled floor with an "accent wall" but, I'm sorry that poor hotel needs a lot more than an Accent wall to make me stay… such a let down for our 10th anniversary night … Not even close to a $300 + a night kind of hotel, Houston has much more to offer at this price point.

We had a great experience for the one night we were here in town for a wedding. The hotel is stylish, the staff is super friendly and they were able to give us a ride to and from the venue of no charge (but don't forget to tip, don't be that guy) due to it being within 3 mile radius. Would definitely stay here again when in Houston!

Lots of gorgeous decor, the hotel room was clean and decorated beautifully. The bathroom and bedroom were spacious and the staff was kind. Would definitely stay here again if I'm back in Houston. Great place for a getaway or romantic stop. Only downside was that there isnt much of a view outside the window but if that doesnt bother you definitely stay here!

The staff was very nice and helpful. I had a lot od questions and they were all very patient and kind. The room was great and so was the view. I really like the style of the hotel, the whole place has a really cool vibe.

I attended a company party in one of their main rooms. The cocktail area is roomy and classy, and the event room has a beautiful modern design. A/V was excellent throughout the night. My only complain was the quality of the steak over dinner, it seemed rushed and almost fake. Overall it was a fantastic night.

I was attending a corporate event immediately upon arriving I was greeted very well by the concierge while he held the door open. Upon arriving to the front desk I was again greeted and showing the right way to the corporate event corporate event was actually being held by a third party but they were being assisted by some of the hotel staff. The hotel staff was great I even ended up buying a room for the night because I got a little too excited with the drinks. Upon staying the night the rooms were clean well-kept room service was great I would recommend this to anybody.

This hotel is overrated. Way too expensive for what it is. $24 for breakfast? Give me a break. The rooms were small. It was nice having a bar there, and the wait staff was very friendly. The drink prices were over priced as well. The swimming pool is pretty small too. Good luck parking and having that secure feeling of no door dings. The parking spots were just wide enough that all full sized vehicles had their tires on the yellow lines. I guess it's supposed to be an exclusive style hotel, but we were super disappointed. The lobby area was artistic and decent, but we weren't staying in the lobby. I would not stay there again.

The atmosphere here is very modern and edgy. It is dark, but in an art gallery type of way. The decor is colorful and chic. It almost has a artsy subway kind of feel to me personally. I enjoyed my stay here, the staff was friendly and parking was a breeze. My only 2 concerns were that the walls are VERY thin. I could hear the people in the room next to me clearly. My best friend and I stayed here and we were giggling and laughing late into the night, and knowing the walls are thin made me very aware of my volume. The second concern was our toilet stopped up and gave us issues twice during our stay. I attempted to call the front desk at around 11:00 pm when it first happened, but I waited on hold for at least 10 minutes before I finally hung up. I found a wire hanger in the closet and used it to unstop it, all is good. If I could give a 3.5 I would rather than a 3, but I wouldn't say its a 4 star either. I hear so much about Hotel Derek, and although its very beautiful and modern, I do think it is slightly overrated. I would definitely stay here again, but I wouldn't necessarily say its a "MUST STAY" hotel in Houston.

Attended for a professional holiday party. Parking was ample, and the facilities were spacious and chic. Staff was pleasant and accommodating. Only aspect indenting a five star rating was the food, which was somewhat bland with small portions for the entrees (although this may reflect the preferences of my employer who arranged the event).

I stayed a week at the Derek. The room was really comfortable and clean. Service was good. The rooms and hotel design is really modern and great. There are several great restaurants a short walk in the next door retail center.

Some people say the rooms are dated and what not. Personally, I felt like I was Hunter S. Thompson or some old movie star. The vibe to this place is so legit. Staff is very courteous as well.

Stay was good. Parking is a little expensive and there is a service charge for each night as well so be aware of that. Overall had a decent stay though. Walking/close driving distance to a lot of good restaurants.

After using Hotel Derek for a larger corporate event this year, we decided they would be a good choice to use them when we needed to book a hotel room locally for an out of town guest. After realizing that our reservation was made the day of instead of when we needed it, we called right away to have the reservation changed which we were told was not an issue — — and is why I was so surprised that we were charged the full room rate for the night. When I called, I was told that the reservation line from their own phone number does not go to the hotel, so they had no record of the call and had us marked as a no show. The receptionist was rude, and when I asked to speak with a manager, I was put on hold indefinitely until I had not choice but to hang up. This hotel seemed to have great customer service when our bill was in the five figures but did not have any time or consideration for our one night discrepancy. We will not be re booking with this hotel for personal or corporate purposes again since $177 is worth losing a potential lifetime customer.

Absolutely worst customer service. The hotel price is fine for everything included. The hotel is nice. The staff super unprofessional and the women who answer the phone are just as equally as horrible in customer service skills. I had an issue with billing and over two weeks later they still haven't fixed my escalation. I call to attempt to get this fixed they refuse to transfer to me to a supervisor manager going on 16 minutes they still have me on hold. They will not fix the error refuse to let me speak to someone in charge and whoever is working the shift at 8:00pm today just keeps putting me on hold. Worst experience.

Very nice upscale hotel. Rooms are modern and comfortable. Everything was satisfactory with the stay. They have a snack and drink bar in each room however it is quite pricey.

As a hotel this one was okay. I suppose for a 4 star hotel I was expecting more. The interior is trendy but a little exaggerated. The lobby and the elevators are heavily perfumed (signature scent? ) which was a bit overwhelming. While the noise of the highway was kept at bay, the walls were a little thin. We could hear the toilet and bathroom water through the walls. Speaking of toilets, toilet paper was surprisingly cheap and the towels were a step above Wal-Mart towels. The pool was cute in a petite way. I suppose it was a hotel that wasn't for me.

If I could give this place zero stars, I would. We booked a room just in case our electricity went out from hurricane Harvey. We didn't get the double room we booked, we got a single. There was a dog in someone's room yapping and barking. We're here right now and that dog keeps barking. The only food they have is from the mini bar, so I got to feed my 4 year old cookies. The staff is slow and rude. The guy next to us got stellar service but we were ignored. They have almost no food so my husband had to drive into flood waters to find us something to eat but everything is closed. This is one of the worst hotel experiences I've ever had. Days Inn would have been a better experience and for a fraction of the cost. There are no comforters on the beds. Our key didn't work and the staff had my husband go all the way back to the lobby to switch keys. I asked for the GM and he didn't show up. I'm contacting the news so everyone will know how hotel Derek treated those of us looking for a safe place to stay during the hurricane.

Nice, weird decor. Bar was fun. Right by galleria. I wasn't a fan of the lobby music. Modern dance music. Probably cool for alot of people though. Rooms were dope, foods dope. Go rockets.

Nice lobby. Very professional and modern. However, check in was disorganized and my reservation was not what I was told it would be. But they made up for it. $200 per day per room hold on my card in addition to paying for my room is excessive but tolerable. Room was nice and clean. I'm not sure I would stay here again. But it was a good experience overall.

I had a pleasant experience at Hotel Derek. Convenience is a must here. The hotel is located directly off the highway, which was good for me. I must admit the showers did back up as some other posters mentioned. But it was never too big an issue for me. I had a spacious king room and an amazingly comfy bed. If you need a nice hotel and the convenience to get back on the road, Hotel Derek is perfect.

Really enjoyed my stay here! The rooms are super trendy and I love the bench seat right next to the window. The bed was comfy and the room was well appointed. The gym is top notch and offers chilled water, towels and apples. The pool is AWESOME! It's the perfect temperature and has a beautiful waterfall. They play movies on the wall by the pool but we weren't able to see it. They have a bar and a breakfast buffet, which was delicious but very expensive. They also have a multi level parking garage which is very convenient. My only complaint is that the bath faucets aren't secured on well. Mine nearly came off and my colleague's faucet actually shot off the wall.

Good Location and the service is very decent in general.

The rooms are wide and well maintained. The staff is quick and friendly. The view is amazing and very close to the galleria.

My room is NOW cold, very cold and a so-call "engineer" comes to fix the AC. It never works. I call customer service and she says she will send him up again. He never shows up again. I booked on Priceline and got this hotel automatically, without reading all other reviews. The hotel lobby appearance tricks you. The room is tiny, old and ugly. I can smell mold on carpet. I stand on a pool of water while taking a shower. The bath tub is slowly draining. This hotel grade should only be 2 star like Motel 8 or even worse Motel 6. You see chips laying everywhere like they sell in the convenience store except for the price is predatory. Feel like you're living in a third world country. A bottle of water is $7. Imagine some staff eats them and you will be billed for those. They actually take my $100 deposit at check-in in case that happens. Parking is NOT free. They charge overnight parking for $25+tax. Anyway, I'm writing this for the ears and eyes of other hotel preys, as the heart of the hotel owner maybe colder than this room I'm in now. He/she won't do anything. He or "a" she won't give a crap except for saying "yes, sorry, we are upgrading, please come back". I hope he/she knows how to use this money to raise their kids not to treat their customers or even their family members this bad. {unhappy+mad}. Wouldn't you be? I didn't pay for a cold room in Winter.

Hotel room is old and ugly. It's about 2 star, comparing to Motel 8. Bathroom is tiny. Parking is NOT free, it's $25+tax. They lay all kind of chips for sale in your room like at a gas station. I can smell mold on the carpet. Customer service on the other hand is quite impressive in saying "sorry". Don't waste your money for this quality of a motel 6.

At the last minute I decided to book a room at Hotel Derek. Although they had issues pulling up my reservation when they finally got it situated they upgraded my room and put me on a higher floor. The room size was great for just me or even if I were with one other person. Super comfortable bed. My room was clean, but I was most impressed by the front desk staff.

Decent. For the name, pictures, the lobby entrance, and most importantly price. I thought I was going to get so much more. My room felt kinda old, toilet had problems, everything costs something, parking tax + valet parking, water is 5 dollars a bottle, and the shower felt really old. Other than all of this, was a pretty fair stay, and Expedia gave me a nice deal on the room. The pool was nice, and the elevator card reader was cool. Probably wouldn't go back, but I wouldn't not recommend this to someone if they paid less than 100.00 a night.

The view from the room is nice! The rooms are alil small! The shower is cramped and a bag of doritos is 3 bucks and a bag peanuts is 7! the decor is retro and is my style! booked with an app called hotel tonight so got it for cheap!

I LOVED the room, beautiful hotel, absoluelty breathtaking! The only thing is, you have to call several times about your refund of the 100$ deposit they make you pay at check in. They say its supposed to be back within 3-5 business days, but I didn't get mine for 3 weeks! Other than that, My stay was perfect. I didn't do the room service thing because it was pricey, but I defiantly took advantage of the mini-bar! :-) I would recommend this place and would love to come back!

Three star price for a four star Hotel with a three star service, a three star bed, a four star room, a five star shower, and a two star pool. Not bad at all. Not the most luxurious, but definitely the best value I have found latterly.

It was amazing. My husband and I had a really good time. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Very close to good restaurants, of all price ranges. The only thing that we didn't like was that the parking is $20 extra and there aren't many parking spaces for self park.

This hotel is way too expensive for the crappy rooms they have. There is a out dated sliding door to the bathroom that you would literally walk through if you are not careful. The bath tub fills up with water while showering. The breakfast was horrible. They took almost 2 hrs bringing it. Then when they arrive more than half of the things we order were not on there. Me and my husband promised to never do a staycation there again. Absolutely unwelcoming.

For an alleged 4-Star hotel, this place has the feel of a La Quinta. I'm a traveling business man and have stayed in practically every hotel out there across multiple cities and was not impressed by Hotel Derek. The common areas and entrance was nice but the hallways were damp and dirty with low lighting and my standard room was sub-par when compared to other higher-end hotels. Parking garage is vey old. I would not recommend this if you are looking for a semi-higher-end hotel to stay at.

My experience with Hotel Derek was far from nice. The glamorous pictures you see online are far from what you will get with this hotel. The staff was not welcoming, and I overheard a clerk being rude to the girl checking in beside me. We also found out upon arrival that the pool area would be closed due to a private event. It would be nice to know these things before booking a hotel room. I could have stayed down the road at a hotel with an open pool. The shower knobs were dirty, and the room was just average for the price we were paying. Trying out a new hotel was not the best idea, and I will keep my business with the Marriott down the road. I have never had a bad experience there.

The place completely shuts down at 11pm and if you're thinking of heading to your room to socialize — teams of armed hotel security personnel with 9-millimeter pistols enforce their 11pm-7pm "quiet hours. " Staff is otherwise universally unfriendly. The whole building had a weird vibe and the food is about what you'd expect from an Applebee's but way more expensive. Oh and beware the hot water which will easily burn the flesh off your bones of you aren't very careful.

I loved the pool its a great place for the family and not to mention the beautiful views and friendly staff. One of the best experiences of my life. I will for sure be going again.

We stayed at the hotel Derek this weekend for our 10 year anniversary and they upgraded us to the Penthouse! It was amazing and beautiful. We enjoyed the view of the Galleria and having drinks on the balcony. The hotel bar has great drinks and the breakfast buffet is better than the majority of hotels we have stayed in across Houston. The staff was very professional and polite. I will definitely be back to stay at Hotel Derek.

If you like having your vehicle broken into, you should stay at Hotel Derek. I came for a hunting trip, and the Valet and Bell staff were very inquisitive about the types of guns I had. They insisted on parking my vehicle up front so that they could keep an eye on it over night since there had been vehicle break ins around the area. Sure enough, my truck along with 6 others were broken into right next to the Valet stand. There was a 15 minute window from when the guy next to me parked and I came down stairs, only to find all the vehicles (mostly trucks) broken into. Not a single alarm went off on the busted vehicles. The valet staff tipped off an associate without question and likely unlocked the vehicles to avoid commotion. They stole guns from my truck and the truck next to me. They would have had to know where my gun was in order to find it, as it was well hidden. Absolutely ridiculous. The hotel manager refused to offer free parking or any kind of accommodation for violated guests. I had to argue to have the parking chargers removed from my bill. And the security company who was on patrol in the small parking lot was also late to the party only to find them taking their time smashing into 7 trucks. Again, there is a shakedown going on at that hotel, so only stay there if you want your stuff stolen while you are traveling.

Comfortable rooms. Friendly service. Surprisingly quiet on the room floors after hours. Bar service was excellent.

Hotel Derek is conveniently located at Westheimer and 610, near the Galleria, where quality restaurants and shopping are within walking distance. In addition, the service was commendable. However, before you make a reservation prepare yourself for a shell game when it comes to your bill. First, you must pay to park at the hotel. But the fee isn't added to your room. You are charged separately, and the fee may not show up on your card until several days after your stay. Then there is the $100 fee for the room accoutrements you MAY decide to use. This too is separate from your room charge and may take up to a week to be refunded. Both times I have stayed at Hotel Derek I have had to call and say, "Where is my $100? " I will never stay there again.

After being to this hotel, I don't think I'd want to stay anywhere else in Houston! The hotel is super modern, hosts a complimentary happy hour AND has a pool to boot! The rooms are super plush and the hotel provides turn down service with chocolates on your pillow. The pool doesn't get a lot of sun, but it is very trendy. Room service will deliver anything you want out to the pool! Something to note, bar closes at midnight. There is also a slightly more expensive Starbucks downstairs. I didn't get to try it, but I heard the breakfast buffet is well known here. In close proximity to the Galleria Mall.

Chic boutique hotel right near all the buzz in Galleria area off 610-S. I stayed here for one night to celebrate an anniversary. They gave us a great room overlooking Uptown, and offered us free breakfast in the restaurant. We took advantage of the free shuttle service, and arrived in style at the Galleria for shopping. Try to catch a rate on sale. We stayed for about $100/night. A great night in a great room, with excellent service!
