The hotel was fine but the floor 16 was smelled like marihuana, and the room next to my room they made a lot of noise, like 6 am and I have a baby the had to wake up and 6 am because of the People on the next room.

Lovely property with great amenities. The suites are massive. Young lady at the front desk was very informative and helpful. 5 star.

The staff was wonderful to my family and I. We stayed at the Royal Sonesta for 6 days and the staff here (room service, concierge, and my favorite were the waiters at the restaurant downstairs. Heriberto was awesome! ) were so pleasant and very helpful. I highly recommend staying here and I look forward to coming back in the future.

Beautiful, clean hotel! My husband and I stayed for one night and really enjoyed our entire stay. The hotel staff went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed. We really enjoyed happy hour and the breakfast was amazing! This is the perfect hotel for a weekend getaway.

I was there for a presentation by a prominent speaker. The elevator system was very confusing. The hotel staff was fairly responsive, but there should have been better signage and instructions. The room itself was also incredibly hot, to the point the speaker himself had to mention the heat and ask the crowd to bare with it. I left there with my back and legs soaking wet from the sweat, and I am not a heavy sweater. The rest of the hotel was beautiful, which is why it received 3 stars.

We absolutely love Staying at Sonesta hotels, this was our First time here at this beautiful Hotel. From our check in to our shuttle ride to the Galleria, our night cap, to our morning breakfast experience everyone was amazing, thoughtful and accommodating to our needs.
Our room was comfortable and as always with Sonesta room was perfect. We plan on traveling to New Orleans and will absolutely make our reservation with Sonesta!

Enjoyed my stay at the Royal Sonesta Houston. Located really close to the mall and plenty of shopping and restaurants nearby. The lobby and ballroom area was beautiful. Staff was very friendly and always helpful. I didn't eat at any of the restaurants there, but was told the food was delicious.

Recently stayed one night 8-18-2018 until 8-19-2018. Staff was very nice & friendly! My only problem staying there is the room was right next to the pool door. So couldn’t sleep real well due to the traffic in & out of pool door! And my point of booking the room was to leave my town and get peaceful time!

We absolutely loved our stay at the Royal Sonesta. My husband decided to book our stay there due to its proximity to the restaurant we were headed to that evening, but we had no idea what was in store for us. He had casually mentioned that it was our anniversary upon booking and Sonesta staff surprised us with champagne and chocolate covered strawberries upon arrival, along with a lovely, handwritten note. What a wonderful way to kick off our anniversary! The corner king room was spacious and nicely appointed, the bed was beyond comfy, and our breakfast the following morning was delicious. Thank you for a perfect stay, we will be back!

First, the staff are outstanding from the Door Men, to the In room food service and everyone in between. Especially the very sweet lady who helped me immensely while registering for room. Can’t say why exactly but she saved me big time. All interactions have been really really pleasant. The beds are dope for sure! zzzzz. Oh! And one more thing. The ac kicks butt. It’s almost too cold in this smoldering heat if you can believe that. Hahahah Oh! And don’t let me forget! The room service food is pretty outstanding. Here are my ratings and things you MUST have when you visit. 1. Tuna tar tar tacos are incredible.
2. Breakfast in bed display is on point.
3. The fruit plate is bomb diggity.
4. Eggs Benny is off the hook
5. Fresh squeezed OJ is delish!
Bottom line this is a great hotel and it’s all because of who is running it. The people.

You know, the hotel shows its age in some ways. But the room was quiet and comfortable. The bed was fabulous… amazing water pressure in shower. Pretty much covers all the bases for me! And the location cannot be beat. Will definitely stay again.

I don’t care if Valet was a little on the pricey side: I’d use them every time I stay. Those guys are on top of their game! I accidentally left my wallet in my car once and they brought it to me! Very clean room! And that bed-?! Ugh. Amazing
Very polite staff! I didn’t need to interact with them much, but when I did, they were extremely pleasant to deal with. *psa* they have a $50/day fee for if you use room service, etc. That is charged immediately… but if you don’t use it, you get refunded.

Clean rooms, bathroom was a little tight (King room). Hotel overall presented nicely. Staff was very friendly and kind. One even gave us a ride down the garage floors because elevators were out of order. Best location. Great experience overall.

I celebrated my 1 year anniversary here this weekend and I wanted to say that the service is absolutely outstanding! Executive chef, Robert Graham, was so accommodating and ensured everything was amazing for us! Chef Jason was a delight and listening to him describe each course was wonderful and his dishes were delectable! The waitstaff, Guillermo and Vilma, were a delight! The room was beautiful with a perfect view of the city. All in all, this is a wonderful place that we will be coming back to every year!

Presently staying at this hotel it is absolutely gorgeous, clean and great customer service. Will definitely recommend it. However, I wish they open the bathroom in the fitness center and offer pancakes and French toast for the continental breakfast. The food was great.

The hotel stay was pleasant till we left and found damage to our vehicle that was parked in their garage. No cameras and we are stuck with the bill for repairs. $45 to self park, $65 to valet… Spend the extra $20 so that you aren't stuck with a body shop bill instead.

Beautiful hotel with easy access to restaurants and shopping. The rooms are great and the beds are comfy. Staff is friendly and for the price we found we had a lot of amenities available to us.

Place is decent but occasionally a little shabby around the edges. Good room amenities and Internet speed. Bathroom could be better organized. Hotels on this street should work on making the area more pedestrian friendly so guests can more easily get to shopping and restaurants. Although maybe Houston isn't pedestrian friendly to begin with. Wish the in-hotel shop had more purchasing options like basic toiletries and pain killers. There is a gas station not that far away where you can buy such things, but it's across a busy intersection with non-functional walk sign on one side.

It was for a work event. The food was good, the workers were very friendly.

I have never been here before today, but I would never come back. Check in was incredibly slow because their computer system was incredibly slow (there are only 4 check in terminals so the system should be able to handle that easily). We then went to the restaurant and waited 45 minutes to get a club sandwich even though it was less than half full when I came in because my waiter didn't put in my order. I had to catch him and ask why several tables who came in after I had ordered already had already received their food (he told me that he, "didn't know"). Two stars for the hotel itself. It's nice but needs some maintaining.

Ay dust the furniture and a lot of bone is not enough attention to customer care nose for my see wing height area and all lack muchicicicimo thanks for being so sincere and dessert you charge the park even your hospedandote in Hotel No no no but left a lot to Want.

I just stayed here as I was planning a meeting recently and wanted to remain onsite. The staff here are awesome, it's a great location and if you book in advance, the rates are reasonable. I think many are so focused on their points program, they might choose elsewhere, but it is a gem within Houston and I highly recommend it.

This is a really nice hotel. Stayed here on business and we had a conference there. All of the staff that hosted all of the conference Banquets were extremely customer service oriented. The rooms were nice and clean, the gym was nice, and there is a nice outdoor pool and hot tub. I would definitely stay here if given another opportunity.

An extremely impressive hotel. The staff that I came in contact with was professional, polite an accomodating. The restrooms, well stocked. The property was clean both inside and out. It offers a paid parking garage; the function that I attended offered parking ticket validation. The food and drinks served at all 3 meals was excellent!

Nice hotel. Rooms are new and spacious. However, depending on which side your rooms are facing, you may get traffic noise from the expressway nearby. Otherwise, its about 5 mins walk to the Galleria Shopping Mall and lots of other shopping / eating outlet nearby. Provide lounge (breakfast and evening drinks) for certain customers. Overall a pleasant hotel and friendly and helpful staff.

I came here just to get some peace to help my stress levels and it was the best stay ever. The service awesome! It’s nice quite and clean. Food and drinks awesome! The best local getaway ever!

Rotay Sonesta Hotel Houston is right in the center of the Galleria area. Close access to great eating and shopping area. The hotel facilities are spectacular. Our hotel suite was very large and had impressive amenities to include a large living area, dining area and wet bar area with wall to wall window views of the city.

A beautiful place that we stayed at because we went to a cousin's wedding and they had reserved a block of rooms at a good rate. Would give an extra half a star if allowed. Can't say anything about their food because it was too expensive for our wallets. We usually go to places where breakfast is complimentary. Here the buffet was $21. Ok… the reason for less than perfect review… We had to use Valet parking because the elevator in the parking garage wouldn't work. The makeup mirror light didn't work so I reported it on Friday afternoon requesting that it be fixed by 3 PM on Saturday so I could use it to get ready for a wedding. Not only was it not fixed when we went to the room to get dressed, the room had not been attended to at all (dirty towels still there and bed not made up). I just expected more from a 4☆ hotel!

Everyone (from the front desk to the kitchen to the lady in the cafe) was great. They were friendly, informative and helpful. I had a different person at the front desk each time I had to go there, and it was refreshing to have the vibe stay the same. The hotel is gorgeous and the rooms were clean and set up in a way that made them feel spacious. The parking garage elevators were a little sketchy, but worked. Not a big enough issue to impact my experience, but worth mentioning. Overall, this has been one of my favorite places to stay.

Comfortable room and friendly staff. The low ceilings in the bathroom had previous guests hair stuck to it and the elevator in the parking garage doesn't seem to work reliably. But my way overall was great and the price was great for the quality.

What a great venue for an event. They have plenty of parking and they set it up so that even with a couple of events going at the same time, there's no confusion. The bar staff is very friendly and fast to move the long lines along and the food was tasty. Well done on their part for running the event smoothly.

Unfortunately they booked our gaming event upstairs while holding a black-tie fundraiser downstairs and the only way to get to our event was to squeeze through a crowded floor of very fancy folks to get to the stairs or elevator. A limitation of the design of their spaces. Unavoidable.

This was my first time in Houston and I had a great 3 day stay at the royal sonesta. Firstly, I'm not the sort to go crazy over hotel shampoo but the ones that we're provided by the hotel smelt amazing that I had to request for a few extra bottles to bring home to Singapore. Next, being a cabin crew means that I'm constantly jetlagged, sleeping and getting up at absurd times of the day so when I found out that the hotel gym was 24 hours, I was all over it. Bottles of water were provided every day which was great and handy. Besides that, I was absolutely happy that there was a mall, a Target, and many other stores within walking distance of the hotel which meant that food and shopping was accessible. It was definitely a great first trip to Houston.

Very convenient location right at Galleria. Rooms were priced great, clean and modern. Only spent two nights but enjoyed dinner at the restaurant.

The Royal Sonesta was a very nice place to stay. Very friendly staff and elegant atmosphere. My only complaint is that check in was at 3:00. I arrived at 4:00 and my room was not clean so I had to wait. The hotel was not busy so the room should have been clean when I arrived.

My first time there was last night, we booked a sweet suite deal about 2 months prior to our stay. We got there and was greeted with friendly faces and felt very welcomed. We dined at the hotel restaurant that night, and it was great. We also ordered room service later that night as well and the food was also delicious. The suite was beautiful, nice view of the city. Our room just lacked cleanliness the sheets where stained with what appeared to be old blood stain, and so was one of the pillows. The bathroom sink and floor where not clean looked like someone was in there and used it before we arrived, couch had old stains on them, and the carpet did not look vacuumed. But those things where not going to ruin our stay. We still had a great stay and woke up and had their delicious breakfast buffet before we checked out. We hope to visit again sometime and maybe experience a better room experience.

This is a top notch hotel that caters to your needs. Ask and you will receive. The lobby bar is excellent and the rooms are comfortable. The area is unparalleled with anything you could want or need.

Well I have not been there but I really like to work in hotels but there is a very big PROBLEM in hotels. The theft of tips x part of the supervisory then the housman x that's already the housekeeping no longer want to work. We have no case and they abuse us, we won least q of them but with the TIPS q let x heavy q is And the dedication of doing a job crisp deserve the tip q we earn IS NOT WORTH Q THE SUPERVISORY HOUSMAN STOLEN. Excuse my audacity, but that is happening in the housekeeping room.

I work in a cleaner where she provides service to the ROYAL SONESTA hotel.

For some reason we found cockroaches running and flying around… They even flew onto and hugged one of the people I was with. There also did not seem to be an air vent to remove steam during showers… That caused things to be quite steamy. Oh and also the bathroom door didn't properly close/lock. Overall the hotel was a pretty good experience despite the aforementioned stuff.

Has very good service, excellent breakfast, are very friendly and it is safe. Shipments of internet shopping you delivered at the time in the room. Excellent care.

We had a situation with in room dining and Diane took great care of customer management for us! We came home at 11 pm and the lounge bar closed up but told us we were able to order a glass of wine and some food in room service. When we called we were told the ONLY glass of wine, after we were told we couldn't order any wine, was a house blend that was $10. This really bothered me because I can sit here and order a $48 steak until 1 am but I wasn't able to pair it With decent glass or even bottle of wine? The wine that in room dining was telling us we could have wasn't even on the wine list menu, it was canyon something which is not at all what we wanted. Diane called us and got the job done which we were very grateful for.

We truly enjoyed our stay for our 12 yr Anniversary. The guest attendants and the check in clerk was very nice. The room was clean and the view was amazing. We stayed on the 18th floor and we had a beautiful view at night. I really enjoyed the room service the food & the chocolate cover strawberries was fantastic. I would recommend this place to family & friends and I will be staying there in 2 weeks for my daughter birthday.

Beautiful conference/business hotel. Convenient amenities such as a restaurant, bar/lounge and grab-and-go Starbucks style option. The staff at ARA Restaurant were excellent, specifically our server, Elizabeth, and the hostess (name unknown). They made visiting the restaurant a pleasure every day, even if the breakfast buffet was pretty basic for such a nice hotel. We stayed in a well-appointed two-room suite with large wall-mounted TVs (including a Smart TV), a bar and mini-fridge (no microwave) and a half bathroom. The reason for the three-star rating is because of repeated problems with malfunctioning room keys; an intermittent smell of sewage from the half bath, which the maid appeared not to notice; and a broken elevator in the parking garage that went unrepaired for days. The ambiance and staff kept it from being a poor experience, and I'd stay here again if they fixed these issues.

My first time ever using this chain and it was awesome! I'm a die hard Marriott fan, but my convention booked this hotel. It was the best decision ever! Every single staff person we came into contact with was above professional and accommodating. Yes the fit shop could use more items and the Ara breakfast buffet is okay, but the cleanliness, extremely nice staff definitely makes this a 5 star hotel! Would go here again!

Was visiting a friend of mine who was in Houston for the weekend. I didn't have an opportunity to interact with hotel staff, but it was easy to find my way from the parking garage to the elevators. The self parking garage is one of the most confusing places I've been. The signage is difficult to see at night (no illumination) and when you get your ticket, which feels like you've left the Galleria in favor of Chicago's South Side, you still have a confusing drive to the garage, pass the valet parking, to get to visitor parking. And even though the garage was fairly empty, there were cars parked in no parking areas, clearly marked by tow information, which the hotel obviously was not enforcing. The lobby is gorgeous and the room was impeccable. On my way out, I stopped in the public restroom in the lobby and I half expected to be greeted by an attendant, it was that nice. My final complaint is that they charged $10 for parking less than 30 minutes. The hotels in the area usually waive the fee if you're there less than an hour. Be cautious.

The hotel staff was extremely accomedating. Anytime my organization asked for something they did it without hesitation. They even asked us if we needed anything while we were setting up such as coffee or water. They made us feel like family members and we were treated very friendly. The hotel itself was very clean and elegant. The staff was overall very attentive to our needs during the dinner and very polite. I plan on having our event here next year because of how excellent the experience was.

This hotel checks all the boxes: it's pleasant, modern and well-priced. However, the real reason I felt moved to give a good review is the excellent service for priority members on the 23rd floor. The staff there are quite dedicated and prepare a surprisingly good breakfast spread each day — much better than those I have seen at other hotel priority lounges. Definitely want to keep coming back here, when I visit Houston.

Royal Sonesta in Houston is modern and beautifully updated. Artistic designed accents include a glass sculpture in the entry and artwork in rooms. Deluxe accommodations at good prices. This is the perfect place to stay on business.

Love the remodeling of the hotel, very well done. Staff didnt make much attempt at any sort of interaction but the room and the lobby were enough to help me overlook that.

I will never return! When I first checked in they gave me a room with someone already in it, which was very embarrassing. The staff at the bar insulted me when I ordered a Makers Mark on the rocks. They told me they could not make me that drink because I was not "super VIP". I also asked if they had any Pappy Van Winkle and the bartender said he had 3 bottles but would not sell any to me and proceeded to remove the bottles and lock them up in the cabinet for no one to see. This was only after having 1 beer at the bar. I complained to the manager and all I got was 2 bottles of water and a very small meat and cheese tray sent to my room. I have never been more insulted in my entire life! Also, the bed in my room did not have fitted sheets so I slept on top of the mattress without a sheet which made the bed very uncomfortable. The water in the shower was barely even hot and the maids obviously do not check to refill the shampoo. So if you do decide to stay here, check to make sure no one is in your room first, bring fitted sheets, shampoo, your own alcohol if you want a drink and be prepared to be insulted. Good Luck!

Nice find! A well groomed hotel right beside Galaria mall. Rooms were clean, spacious, and luxurious.

The hotel was very nice and our room was comfortable. There was a lot of noise at night from other rooms though, so I didn't sleep as well as I could have.

They made the whole weekend great… Everything I asked of them they didn't disappoint… Would go back…

Great customer service and beautiful hotel. Everyone was really friendly there, we had stayed during the Christmas holidays and the Christmas decorations were stunning, would recommend this hotel to anyone.

The room is nice, but it's small. It's a pain every time you want to leave, because the road it's on is a freeway exit, so it always takes 20 min to get a quarter mile because traffic is always slow and crowded.

This is a nice higher end hotel that has a great location. They hotel is very modern. Don't worry if you like Starbucks they have one there. So you won't miss out on your coffee mix. The restaurant and bar are good here. The staff are friendly, are they know how to mix up a drink or two. The conference rooms are nice, a little on the dark side though. They do well on their AV services so everything works well.

Location is good, hotel is nice. However when we stayed there was no heat in our room. It was 61 degrees (or possibly lower) at 530 am when I awoke freezing! I then called downstairs and all she offered was extra blankets. I don't know what that was going to do considering it was almost time to wake up and take a bath. Also, there is apparently only one vending machine in the whole hotel that had been broken for a few days. So don't plan on getting thirsty on your stay. I would never stay here again as the only compensation we received was a night of free valet parking. The front desk lady that took the 5am call failed to mention it to the lady coming on at 7 as she had no idea of the problem. No remorse at all for us having to freeze our butt off.

Snobby staff was an issue a year ago, having to go stay there for work again. Annoyed beyond belief over the "incidental deposit". I'm having to go for work and they make you pay for something you may use, but never do. I could have spent that $50 in the bar, but so rude, I'd rather go elsewhere.

Very clean hotel. Beds and linens were super comfortable and cozy. Staff was always pleasant and smiled even when just passing through a hallway or elevator. Gym was stocked with towels, water, bananas, etc. Only reason for four instead of five stars was because parking was about $20 a day and with two cars it added up.

A couple of things wrong with this one, from the average traveler perspective. Everything is Coconut Mango scented, so if you don't like that smell, you'll need your own soap, shampoo, conditioner. Water is $3.50 A coke is $4.00 Very few TV channels for a luxury hotel. Only about 50. Wall are quite thing. Beds are VERY firm.

What a great stay! The beds and pillows are heavenly and the rooms are spacious. My family and I stayed here to celebrate my mother's birthday, and we had such a lovely time. A big thanks to Eric, the front desk gentleman, for being very polite and welcoming. He brought us up a complimentary bottle of champagne in honor of my mother's birthday. His friendliness and professionalism left a great impression on us. We will be back.

I travel for work and have stayed at possibly over 15 different hotes in the Houston area and this is one of the nicest ones so far. My standard 1 king bed room was very clean and high-end feeling, the rooms have amenities like floor lighting that really gives it an impressive feel. I would highly recommend this hotel.

My wife and I chose to stay here as part of our honeymoon. There was a little bit of an issue when we first arrived. Someone occupied the room that was assigned to us. We let the front desk know, they apologized and upgraded our room. That was perfectly fine with us. A few hours later the hotel slid a card under the door apologizing once again along with two $25.00 breakfast vouchers. Totally unexpected. We were satisfied with the room upgrade. Great hotel. Definitely will stay here again when we visit Houston.

Dr Nikko and his staff came here the Sky High for St. Jude's Gala. The hotel was absolutely beautiful, the staff were so welcoming, friendly and professional. We all had the best night! Highly recommend.

Went here on a weekend trip, the hotel is in a crammed part of the city. There is valet parking or self parking, but self parking is outside and you have to pay so, Valet is a better choice, in my opinion. The hotel is nice, the room is roomy and large. The bed is comfy enough. Housekeeping doesn't understand what you're trying to tell them and a little rude so that's annoying. The doors don't close properly in the bathroom so that's extremely annoying. The toilet room doesn't have it's on light switch so sometimes it'll turn on and sometimes it doesn't so you are in the dark and that's annoying. The bathroom door didn't lock or close all the way either. Breakfast at the hotel is a disaster. The hostess took her sweet time to get to you and seat you, was rude and didn't give you other options on breakfast except the buffet. Service in there is slow and poor. Breakfast killed the whole hotel for me.

No vending machines were available, so you're forced to pay $4 for a 20oz bottle of soda or leave the hotel altogether. The shower was cramped. No microwave or refrigerator. Complimentary water bottles in other hotels are marked $3.50 each at Royal Sonesta. Oh yeah, and the Wi-Fi was tiered — free speed, medium cost speed, and super cost speed. They wanted $15/day for decent Internet access. That's unacceptable.

PET FRIENDLY! LIVING LIKE ROYALS! First off, before we even left home, we hit a snag. Turns out my mom couldn’t watch our elderly dog, so I called the Royal Sonesta thinking I was going to have to cancel. But can you believe it?! Royal Sonesta is a Pet Friendly Hotel! Bailey dog gets to live it up like a royal too…and boy did he ever! When you first step foot into the Royal Sonesta your eyes immediately go up. The large open foyer and ballroom area is gorgeous. There is a very spacious lounge for cocktails near the front entrance. Lots of comfortable, low lit seating spaces. We had self parking, so you come in through the parking garage. I wish there had been another way to an elevator because we did have to walk Bailey dog through the front desk area to take him outside. A few people stared, but I’m assuming that is because they had never seen such a handsome dog before! We were up on the 18th floor and the kids were so excited to be up so high! We walked into our room and it was really nice, clean, comfortable. I had to lay on the bed immediately. Houston traffic is amazingly insane and I was so ready to be there! One thing I noted: I did not hear any noise from any other rooms…at all! I’m so glad too because my boys make a lot of noise and I would hate to have bothered anyone! So then after a wonderful night sleep, we got up to explore the hotel. Grabbed coffee downstairs at PJ’s. The barista was extremely friendly and professional.

Great hotel but gets expensive. Self parking is $20 and valet is $30.

We stayed at the hotel for a couple of days. The hotel is clean and comfortable, but the staff are barely trained, and have to use only their common sense in the situations that don't occur on an everyday basis, which is not ideal. Barely any of the staff smiled at us, or even tried to be helpful. The lady at the front desk didn't want to communicate with the customers and constantly was on the phone, instead of talking with us which were right in front of her. The air cnditioner at the hotel was broken and we had to call the engineer several times to come and fix it eventually at the last day of our stay. They generously offered a coupon for the breakfast in return, but then they charged us when we checked out without telling us. I called the accounting manager, and after several times explaining the situation for 3 different people (of course after being on hold for long time) the rude accounting pereson said she'll check it and email me back.

Nice hotel, but horrible staff. They double booked our hotel room and literally threw us out of our hotel room after our first night and staff refused to help us find a local hotel in the area. We booked the room months in advance. Travel a lot for work and have stayed in hundreds of hotels and this was the worst travel experience I've ever had.

Nice hotel. Food is a little pricy, but is very good. Lobby bar has a modern, clean, open floor plan. Conference center is good too.

We stayed for a weekend last spring and had a great experience. The room was nice and clean. The staff was incredibly friendly. They prices are competitive. For the value, I'd definitely recommend this over Hotel Derek across the street.

I was only here for one night. I was stressed out and did not want to stay at home so I decided to leave home and spend the night away in a nice hotel. For the one night I was there I enjoyed myself. My room was very spacious and I could see the city beautifully. The bed was amazingly comfortable and there were not any noise issues. I love the way the place looks on the inside. It's so chic! I love the lighting fixtures and how they have redone the place. The bar downstairs was calling my name but I ignored it. That's another review for another day.

A standout in the location and the staff. To improve very much the toilets of the rooms.
