Great decor and New Orleans feel! Front desk staff was pleasant and helpful. Housekeeping overall did a wonderful job but threw away some items we really needed. We had toilet issues that were resolved pretty quickly, so shout out to maintenance! Room didn't have microwave which was pretty disappointing. But great location!

Fantastic hotel. Hotel staff is friendly and on top of all your needs. The valets are great too. If you are driving and want to keep your car at the hotel, valet parking is the only option. The valets will take care if your vehicle. Expect a lot of tipping, it's just that kind of hotel but the service is so good, I didn't you'll mind.

Classic elegance at its finest. The Historic Hotel Monteleone exudes prestige, from the greeting at the entrance to the staff at your door. The Carousel Bar is a legendary happening spot to grab an exquisite cocktail while the rooftop pool gives you a modern touch on breathtaking national monument. A central location to all New Orleans has to offer, mere steps from some of the best fine dining, vintage and antique shops, as well as local art and retailers. But just far enough to escape the debauchery that is Bourbon Street. The Hotel Monteleone is what you dream New Orleans was, and you hope it would be.

The insides reflect times gone by with its vintage and classic look. Beautiful well kept with white marble walls that look flawless. The Carousel Bar is also located inside the lobby. That's worth checking out if your bar hoping and want to see something unique and special. It's not Bourbon street so it's a bit more upscale and laid back.

Very lovely historic hotel. My 'regular' room was very small but the bed was comfortable and I didn't hear neighbors. (Although you can hear anyone in the hall loud and clear) of you're going for the carousel bar, make reservations. We never got a seat. I gave 4 instead of 5 because of the size of the rom and bathroom… But it's an old building and one has to forgive how modern trimmings fit.

This should definitely be on your list of places to stop and have a drink in NOLA. The Carousel Bar is beautiful. They have live music in the evenings which is always very good. And yes the bar does spin like a "carousel". Don't worry it's not fast at all. If you're in deep conversation you probably won't even notice. The bar tenders are great and they know what they're doing. No watered down drinks here. The drinks are not "cheap" but in my opinion worth it for the atmosphere, music and great service.

It's a very fine place, full of character, history, special touches. If you like historical hotels, places like this, or Drake in Chicago, or Brown Palace in Denver, your stay here will be very gratifying. This hotel is over 100 years old, so you book it for special aura it provides and location on Royal st. If you prefer shiny new hotels, you should try something else, but for what it is, this place is phenomenal.

Well appointed rooms in the heart of the French Quarter. The carousel bar is a must see. If only to say you've been. Friendly staff and great service. A bit pricey for the small sized rooms, but the beds were comfortable and the location can't be beat. Just blocks away from Bourbon Street.

I went to this hotel to check out the carousel bar. Wow this place is amazing. A great atmosphere, amazing cocktails, live music, and super friendly staff. I went several times on my new Orleans trip and was impressed every time. I would suggest stopping by at least once to check it out.

The room was lovely. The bed was comfortable. The employees were wonderful. It's in a great location. The only problem I had was in the Carousel Bar. It's attached to the hotel. We went there to have a drinks. We sat there for about twenty minutes and decided to just go to the bar and get it ourselves. Then we wanted something to eat. We waited for thirty minutes and never was able to get a servers attention. So we left and went somewhere else.

I have only gone to the bar, but it's a hotel bar that is definitely worth a visit. One of my favorites in New Orleans. The carousel bar (that actually spins slowly) is definitely worth a stop while in the French quarter. The Ramos Gin Fizz is a must. One of my favorite new Orleans drinks and they do it well at this fun classy bar. It does tend to have a slightly older crowd mixed with the typical young crowd. And, frankly it looked like a couple of the men may have been "sugar daddies". Worthwhile stop for a drink.

Known for their carousel bar this place is beautiful! Has live jazz by their famous bar and beautiful decor. I was blown away by the antique but modern vibe in this place. Staff is wonderful and drinks are strong yet very affordable! Definitely looking forward to coming back here on my next trip to New Orleans.

The stay was paid by my company so I cannot comment on price. But I nieve it might be a bit pricey. Location is very good as near to Bourbon Street. Rooms are fine. Thanks beds are comfortable. I was on a street room and during the weekend it is very noisy because of fanfares and people shouting. And they is nothing to see from the window anyway.

Its been awhile since staying here but thought I would make a few observations. Of the 4 times to the big easy this was by far my fave place for lodging. Its a tad pricey but worth it. Between the carousel bar, ambience, and location… you cant go wrong. Its a tourist destination onto itself.

Hotel Monteleone is a fantastic stay! The rooms and amenities are great, but the service is where they really shine. Every employee is friendly, competent, and utterly charming. Special consideration to Squire, the rooftop bartender — he was a great chat, easygoing, excellent person, and service like his is what will drive people like me to come back to this hotel.

The hotel is old. Vaz will be able to safely place in a very small room more like a rat hole windows are very bad and the room is very noisy despite the high floor very poor cleaning quality always had to ask to clean the room.

We weren't guests there, but went for a drink. The circular bar is a rotating carousel. To get seats on the rotating portion, you either have to go there when it isn't busy, or wait for a couple of hours for someone to leave. We went when it wasn't busy and luckily found 2 seats just as some people were leaving. We were there for about 2 hours or less and no one left. It's rather unique. While we were there we were wondering how the bartenders get in and out of the bathroom and after a while there, we found out. They just go over the bar. It's a nice experience but you have to time it right so you don't end up disappointed if you don't get a seat at the central portion. Other than that it's just a nice bar to cook at.

The hotel is very lovely and well decorated. The room was very clean, and the bed was very comfortable. The carousel bar is downstairs which is particularly cool! The bar slowly rotates as if it were a carousel. There was another restaurant in the lobby that I did not have a chance to check out, but it seemed really nice. They have a rooftop pool and bar, but when I went to go they were closed. But the rooftop pool looks absolutely awesome! The staff were very accommodating, and the ladies at the front desk did us a favor and were so helpful! The hotel is located pretty close to Bourbon Street, and it is nearby so many really good restaurants and bars. I would 100% stay here again.

We just had the best weekend at the Monteleone! Great staff! Great service! The room was very nice and the beds were super comfortable. So conveniently located. Thanks for such a great weekend stay. Can’t wait to come back in April.

Interesting the history of this place.

Oh my goodness! I've lived here all my life and have never been to the Carousel Bar that's in this gorgeous hotel! So beautiful and so much fun! Great music and service. I would love to come here every night if I could after work!

I went to dinner with a group before a Broadway show. We had preselected our entree, and the meal was served with plenty enough time to enjoy it and get to the theatre in time to see the show. The food was delicious.

Very comfortable rooms. Courteous and helpful staff. Check-in and check-out quick and easy. Carousel bar was a lot of fun with great live music. And even though room was close to the elevator and overlooked Royal it was very quiet. Would highly recommend.

Such a cute, historic hotel. Rooms were clean, service was great, and the hotel was beautifully decorated for Christmas. It totally topped the experience. It's a block from Bourbon, and on normal (no event) weekend, you can't hear the hustle. We happened to be here during the Bayou Classic, needless to say, the party went on ALL night. But at no point did the crowd come into the hotel. The Carousel Bar was cute, smaller than I had expected. It is pricey, but a 'must do' to complete the NOLA experience.

Beautiful old bar with a Carousel but all seat were taken when we visited. We sat in the bar area but had to wait a bit before we were greeted by it server. Nice experience, hope to sit at the bar our next visit.

Fantastic experience. Friendly, accommodating staff. Bathrooms were lovely. Doormen were super helpful. Criolla restaurant inside was great for brunch and had friendly staff. Bar staff were great and whipped up drinks they had never made before that were fantastic. Great seating and comfortable, relaxed atmosphere. Would love to go again.

In the middle of the historic center, the hotel Monteleone is perfectly within the most fun. There are many restaurants and bars nearby to try something new every night. The rooms are a little small for the architectural style of a hundred years ago. Very beautiful everything!

Historical hotel with amazing service. The staff was friendly, helpful, and just cool folks all around. The rooms are nice, clean, and the room service food is excellent. We brought our dog with us and this hotel treats the pets as well as the humans. If you are staying in the French Quarter make sure to check out HM.

It's a beautiful historic hotel in a great location — in and out was easy with the valet garage, which is a nice plus in the French Quarter. The room was nice and clean, with a comfy bed. However, we were given a hotel room with no window, which has never happened to me! It helped us sleep in, but there were no substitutions available because they were booked. Also, one of two elevators in our tower broke at checkout time, the building showing its age. Carousel Bar is fun if you can get in, but we were surprised to be herded out at 1 am on a Thursday night.

Beautiful hotel in a great location. The rooms were well appointed and the beds were super comfortable. The staff were friendly and accommodating. I would give this hotel 5 stars but there were no recycling bins in the room, and there didn't appear to be any in the the public areas of the hotel. Desk staff seemed very surprised when I asked about where I might recycle paper and plastic bottles.

The ambiance lived up to all the comments I heard from other people. It's very nostalgic and gives off the vibe of the 1920s with ladies and flapper dresses. The bartender was beyond professional and mixed several fantastic drinks for us. It's called the carousel for reason. The bar actually rotates… very slowly but it does rotate. When we go back to New Orleans we will frequent this restaurant and bar we may even stay at the hotel.

Very reasonable rates, extremely friendly staff and absolutely gorgeous decor. Will stay here again without a doubt! I wanted to add some additional comments on what I believe sets this place apart: the staff. Every single employee that I encountered left no doubt that they were genuinely happy that I was there and took a personal interest in making sure that my time in their hotel and New Orleans at large was nothing short of terrific. Yes, all were very professional, but they also had this delightful, charming folksy vibe. It's hard to express it's impact on me as a guest, but it takes the "welcoming" quotient to uncharted levels. I've visited New Orleans 50+ times and have never felt more like a "regular" than I did on this trip thanks to the great people at Hotel Monteleone.

Really enjoyed our third stay at the Monteleon! Take advantage of the rooftop pool and bar! Only complaint (and certainly not the hotel's fault) is that it is almost impossible to get a seat around the carousel bar and surrounding areas! Concierge was helpful and knowledgeable of the area and doormen were always ready to hail a cab for you! Usually rickshaws nearby also (but they cost way more than a cab ride). Be aware that parking may not be included in your price and it is high!

Best place to stay! Close to Canal and transportation access yet on the edge of the French Quarter where there is a lot of fun tourist activity. Low weeknight rates and a really fun carousel bar. Luxurious old school rooms and lobby. The best in southern hospitality and professionalism. Great value.

Great drinks. A bit pricey though considering how busy they get. Why charge more when you can charge a normal price and attract more people?

Not your average hotel. Ive always complained that every hotel is the same. They all have the same feel no matter how large and expensive. Hotel Monteleone changed my mind and will be my new go to in New Orleans. Smaller than most around but everything about it was enjoyable. Parking is easy, lobby bar and resturant were great, staff was perfect, and the history of the place tops it off. Well exceeded my expectations and I would recommend to anyone.

AMAZING HOTEL AND EXCELLENT SERVICE! From the minute we stepped through the front doors we knew we had booked the perfect hotel. Not only is it beautiful but extremely clean. After checking in Blair assisted us with our luggage and answered all our many questions and provided us with excellent suggestions where to eat and see live blues bands perform. Our suite overlooked Royal street and we were able to see parades throughout the day, but not a lot of noise. The Carousel Bar is a must see and their drinks were amazing. Each nite we would watch the sunset on the roof where the pool is located. The history of the hotel and the many famous writers who have called it a haven from the madness of Burbon Street is shared with hotel guests which was very interesting. I recommend this hotel if you want a great experience, beautiful facilities and excellent service.

I love this place. I have stayed there twice this year with work and I absolutely got a French Quarter experience like I never had before when staying in the Marriott or Hilton. There is nothing wrong with both those places but I did not feel as immersed in the whole scene as I did when I was at the Monteleone. The place is cool classy and funky. It drips with tradition. If you give a sh*t about class and tradition and history this is the place for you. If you just want a cheap room to crash after you get drunk there is a Red Roof Inn out on the interstate with your name on it.

Incredible establishment. Awesome vintage/historic feel. Really cool carousel bar downstairs that is always a must whether you are staying as a guest or just exploring the Quarter. Newly renovated bar outside of the carousel that is bet accommodating. Amazing roof view with pool and work out facility.

Great hotel. Great rooms, great service, great location. If you are visiting the city to explore and enjoy, where you stay shouldn't be such a concern. It's safe, close to the heart of things that you should walk, and it had a bed to sleep and a shower to clean. Excellent! Ps. No such thing as ' half hazard. I enjoyed new years here and couldn't have been more pleased. When it got TOO crazy outside we were able to continue the party inside with a our view of the river and fireworks. My current favorite place to stay in NOLA.

I paid more then usual to spend 3 nights in this hotel recently. When I pay as much as I did, I do not expect to leave feeling underwhelmed. I wanted to be WOWED — I was not. Additionally, I did not complain about anything below. No squeaky wheel here. Until check out. The manager asked me for my room number (I guess to see if I was telling the truth about the pillows? — see below). He then asked me to come back and give them another try after a half hazard "sorry". Hmmmm Had he given me 2 free drinks on the house. I'd give him an A for effort. Asking me to come back and spend more money to "give them another try" is just plain, well, ridiculous! Laughable even. Had he given me a free night — I would have paid it forward and given the entire amount ($300) to the front door man. He is awesome. I would be writing a different review. Housekeeping is something to sing about too — put them in charge. PROS: 1. Location! Great location. Can't beat it. 2. Staff below front desk staff 10/5 stars — they all are fabulous! They all deserve a bonus. 3. Rooftop pool. 4. History 5. Small intimate room — I liked this. Tastefully decorated. 6. Hotel is beautiful to look at. But we all know beauty is only skin deep (well not always). CONS: 1. Front desk staff are friendly, but not sincere. Management — no comment (I have no words). Took forever to check in (I would not normally complain about this, but due to the amount I was paying, I expect more efficiency). 2.

We stayed at The Hotel Monteleone for my wedding night. We were unexpectedly upgraded to a suite once management knew about our stay. It was an amazing and memorable night. They even provided complementary champagne. Will absolutely stay again!

It's a gorgeous building inside and out. The Traditional King Room is smaller than you'd expect, but it's very comfortable. The staff have consistently been incredibly nice and accommodating.

Location. Location. LOCATION… WAS PERFECT! Stayed for Mardi gras! Hotel was so lively and rich in culture.

The rooms were clean with comfortable beds. The hotel had a nice french charm that you could only find there. The staff was friendly and gave great recommendations for places to eat. The Carousel Bar was unique and a great place to have a drink. I would recommend staying here to anyone looking for a nice hotel near the action of New Orleans French Quarter.

My stay at the Hotel Monteleone was great. The hotel is perfectly located in the heart of the French quarter, it's clean, bed was super comfortable and the restaurant and bar was very good also. Staff was pleasant and helpful. I even got to stay on the infamous 14th floor. Unfortunately I didn't experience any paranormal activity.

Tried to watch the game at the bar because the TV in my room was so small. The elevator music was so loud (and awful) I couldn't hear the tv. The bar tender wouldn't do anything. The manager finally talked to me about it and told the bar tender to fix it but the bar tender wouldn't even listen to the manager. Worst service ever.

Paid a hefty premium to stay at this hotel and was VERY dissapointed by the staff. Front desk staff looked at me like I was crazy when I asked for silverware. Housekeeping staff couldn't care less about you… if you reach one that can understand your request. Bar crowded and under staffed. I would suggest staying anywhere else.

First room did not have a great view. They offered to move our rooms and it was much better The price was better than some other hotels AND it is a classic hotel with a unique carousel bar (it rotates).

Monteleone Hotel in New Orleans is a historic hotel off Royal with beautiful accommodations. The carousel bar is a local attraction that you must visit although you will experience slow service regardless of the traffic in the bar. The bar tenders are strict about allowing anyone under 21 in the bar area. Bar service in the lounge is better for groups.

Hotel Monteleone feels like the authentic New Orleans experience. It's a beautiful, historic hotel located within the French Quarter. The staff was friendly and attentive at our conference events. It is also within walking distance of many local hot spots so we could enjoy the town, while being at our conference and not breaking the bank with taxi fees.

The hotel was clean and nice, however I do not believe it was worth the $1000 we spent to stay there for 3 days. Don't get me wrong, I am well aware that I am paying to stay in the heart of the French Quarter. Guess what, there is a Holiday Inn in the French Quarter too. Yeah, they may not have a rotating bar, but hey that is okay, because it did not matter if it was Thursday or Sunday, morning, noon, or night; there was not a SINGLE seat available. It is a busy bar, it is what it is. My husband couldn't even get attention from a bartender to even order a drink there. Maybe I am the bizarre one here, but when I am staying in the French Quarter all I require is a clean room, and quick access to the places I want to be. The hotel is advertised as being "historical", however the original hotel was razed; foundation and all. The next time I stay in NOLA and decide to spend the $$$ for a historical hotel, it will be the cornstalk. The rooftop pool was very very nice, (lots of dirt and bugs, but that doesn't matter much to me), but we were RUDELY told to leave at 10pm! I get that pools have hours, however they were not consistent in their concerns for this matter, as the night before that my husband and I were in the pool until 11pm (when we chose to leave). Obviously the French quarter is AMAZING. I found the hotel to be pretentious, and clearly that is just my opinion.

After checking in I pulled back the sheets to the bed and the linen was dirty. Upon closer inspection the comforter was dirty including marks in the tub as well. The front desk manager and garage manager were rude. If it wasn't for the concierge and the housekeeping manager this hotel wouldn't be worth any stars.

I proposed here at the Hotel Monteleone at the carousel bar and she said yes! We had a wonderful time and enjoyed a French 007 and champagne, compliments of a nice couple. Couldn't be happier.

Our room was small and hot. Evidently, maintenance has to control the thermostat on the side of the hotel we were on. The hallway was cooler than our room. Bed was really comfortable though. Parking is $40 a day and the internet is $4.95 a day.

I am very picky about hotels and have stayed in quite a few. This hotel was perfect — beautiful lobby, classic and comfortable rooms, excellent service. I specifically requested a quiet room with a big bathtub and was given just that. The location is terrific — just far enough from the central tourist hubbub of Bourbon but still in the French Quarter. I am officially a customer for life at the warm and lovely Hotel Monteleone.

I had an awesome time in New Orleans. Having Hotel Monteleone to rest and play in was the exclamation point on an already awesome time. Original room had no hot water. Went back to hotel to change rooms, key card didn't work after 4 trips to the front desk the mgr finally had to use his card to get us back in the old room to get our belongings. Absolutely terrible service.

Wonderful hotel with old world charm. You feel it as soon as you step into the lobby. The staff is gracious and helpful. The rooms are clean. And the location is the best in New Orleans. My husband Carleton Eastlake and I love to stay there. And I wrote about it in my novel, THE BAD BEHAVIOR OF BELLE CANTRALL.

We really enjoyed staying at this beautiful, historical hotel. The rooms, while small, are very well done and the bed was super comfy. I would recommend it for pleasure, business and even family reunions. Their rates are great.
