The bed was not comfortable, the toilet jiggled, the room was a mishmash of furniture, complimentary breakfast was not breakfast, the refrigerator in our room froze items randomly, the bathroom needs major updating and paint was cracked on the ceiling, the smoke detector was right above the bed and the green light was so bright, it was like a night light right over the bed (Too bright for restful sleep! ). Noise from down the hall could be heard while in our room with the door shut.
Most of the staff was friendly.
We have stayed at other hotels in Ames and will go back to staying at those other hotels.

Manager called me the morning we left and accused me of stealing two comforters. We did not steal them. She refused to look on her hallway cameras to see who else entered the room and is charging us $80 per comforter. She hung up on me twice and was extremely rude. We did not steal them. Do not stay here. Rude. Unfathomable.

Great clean hotel. The pool ‍♀️ opened yesterday after the pandemic which is nice. Great to go breakfast.

Excellent hotel. Friendly people, large very clean rooms. Really good continental breakfast. Refrigerator, microwave and coffeemaker, hair dryers in room. Laundry facilities and pool. Pet friendly. Our dog loved it as much as we did. Huge flat screen TV, armoire with iron/ironing board. Would definitely stay again.

This is the cleanest motel I've ever stayed in! The staff is friendly and very helpful. The breakfast is above average with waffles, eggs& meat, oatmeal & yogurt with all the fixings. The pool is nice & warm & sparkling clear. Also has a very nice hot tub. Very clean in the pool area too. Very well equipped exercise area also. Would recommend this hotel to anyone.

We stupidly called a 1800 number to reserve a room. It was twice the price and they added another $25 to the pet fee. We called the hotel directly and spoke with the most wonderful attendant Tim! He was able to get our room down and only half of the pet fee, and add our military discount. Thank you so much again Tim! The Khang family!

Our room was just okay. The issues we had were the following: — Our toilet ran constantly. It was so bad that at 11:30pm we had to call the front desk and request maintenance since it was now leaking all over the bathroom. — We were told they weren't doing late checkout on the day we left. No explanation as to why. — When we went to the front desk to check out the woman working asked us what we wanted done about the toilet when we told her of the issue. I would have thought we would have gotten a discount, even if it was slight, due to this. I will not stay at this hotel again. There looked to be many other hotels in the immediate area. I would pick one of them instead of this place.

Very clean hotel. The service at the front desk was excellent. This will be our go to hotel while our daughter is in college. Our next home away from home.

Won't stay here again. The beds were very comfy. Didn't have a problem with the room but it was so loud because of a group that was there. The room above us sounded like a herd of elephants was staying there. The nail in the coffin was when we were checking out at 4 am, it took me 15 minutes to get the clerks attention. No bell to ring so I had to shout over the music in the linen room 5 times to get him to come out. As this was a business trip, I needed a receipt otherwise I would have just left. On top of all that, there was NO coffee. We had to go to a gas station to buy our coffee. Won't stay here again! I'm giving it 3 stars because the room was clean and the bed comfortable.

We stayed at this location on a Saturday night. When arriving there were several people enjoying the patio area. We were a little afraid that our stay might be a little noisy being so close to campus but we never heard anyone! Slept well! We will be staying here again!

Loved this hotel. The pool was warm. The hot tub was relaxing. The rooms were clean. The staff was friendly. The breakfast was much more than a typical continental breakfast. The front porch was amazing, our family came to the hotel and we had pizza delivered there, it worked perfectly. We didn't have to cram into a little hotel room! Loved everything about our stay! Thank you!

We had a terrible experience at another hotel in Ames and had to find a hotel in a pinch. The people here took great care of us, they were able to find us 2 rooms on a very busy weekend. The breakfast was great. Everyone was super friendly. This is definitely where we will be staying every time we head to visit our family here!

This is a great hotel, Clean, updated and full breakfast. The location is close to Iowa State and the stadium and is so easy to get to. The kids enjoyed the pool and the breakfast. Staff was very helpful and Tim the Manager took care of all our concerns.

My 6 experiences here have been great. Located very close to campus, well maintained, and has a friendly staff. The pool, hot tub, and gym are also very well taken care of.

Only live 10 minutes from this hotel. Friendly staff, very clean, good breakfast, nice room. Great place to bring my daughter for a staycation and a swim. We check in about once per month during the winter, always a good time.

Very nice rooms from what I remember. My room was equipped with a large TV that I very much appreciated. The breakfast was also great.

My daughter attend ISU for five years and I finally stayed at this hotel for her graduation weekend. Wish I had found it sooner, convenient location, clean and reasonably priced. Not near a bunch of restaurants and shopping but the other hotels in Ames aren't either.

Great lobby with friendly staff at desk, we stayed there for a college tour and one of the staff at the front desk showed us were we would be going the next morning for it. The rooms are fantastic, and they have comfy beds. And we had a delicious breakfast in the morning.

It was fantastic. The lounge area was very home feeling. Rooms were nice, and the hotel staff was extremely welcoming.

They are always friendly. Free breakfast is always fresh and coffee is strong. They have a nice updated pool area. They check you in quick and check you out quick, too.

We have stayed at this motel a couple different times and we have always found it to be very clean but the staff is what has made us want to come back. They are very friendly and willing to help with any questions. I left my credit card at a eating place we had just been to. When I noticed it was missing when I was checking in at the front desk, the staff immediately offered to call he eating place for me to see if they had it.

Very impressed with interior and staff. Breakfast was wonderful with a great selection. Don't judge this hotel buy the exterior. Very nice!

Very nice clean hotel with wonderful front desk service and friendly cleaning staff. Also one of the best breakfasts we've had (though I'll never understand why the butter and cream cheese is in the frig for those 3 hours it's open. But every hotel does it) The price was very good and it was 3 miles from Iowa State and we were there for a volleyball game. We forgot our suits but the pool and whirlpool looked very nice. However, they allow pets which I do not agree with and have no idea why hotels allow them. Why do I want to listen to your dogs yip? Otherwise, it was great.

The room was clean and comfortable. The breakfast was decent and we enjoyed the noon check out. There was a pool and gym that we did not have time to utilize but they looked like they were nice size.

Becca was absolutely the best of your Best Western far and wide! I have special needs Family members in town and she went above and beyond to help us feel at home. We will forever look to Best Western for accommodations! Thank You! ❤️

Very nice hotel! It manages to be both comfortable and stylish at the same time. The people are friendly and helpful. There are loads of nice, cozy places to hang out with family, both inside and outside. Breakfast was good, and there was plenty of seating. I highly recommend it!

Just outside of campus, this is a great place to bring family to visit students or for freshman to stay the night before move-in. Rooms were great to sleep in with good temperature controls, and unlike most places, the shower did not run hard water. On top of this, it's pet friendly, with a small area for pets to do their business with doggy bags provided. Overall a solid choice in hotels.

Good overall experience. Clean rooms and nice people. Liked the fitness center, had both cardiovascular and weights. Good breakfast selection. Would recommend this hotel.

Very pleasant staff. Loved that the vanity was outside of the bathroom. Pool and Jacuzzi were working! Breakfast was good. Lobby was impressive. We will be back.

This breathtaking beautiful hotel has been recently renovated and is stunning! The welcoming lobby immediately makes you feel like home away from home. The rooms are gorgeous, very clean and well kept. The included homemade breakfast is superior quality with a plethora of choices for any dietary needs or desires. My spouse states this is the best value breakfast anywhere and he travels frequently! This hotel is a great place to gather as family or for business meetings. The staff is attentive and ready to serve you. Every time we need a place to stay while traveling, this is our first choice. You will not be disappointed! You may want to make this your destination and weekend get away for no reason at all.

The hotel is in the midst of a remodel, but there wasn't anything in the way & it looks like they're almost done. The staff was nice & it is very conviently located right off of hwy 30.

The Best Western room were very nice and clean. The breakfast was satisfactory. Overall the stay was pretty darn good.

My room was very clean, the staff was friendly, the location was very convenient, the lounge area was comfortable. My only real complaint is that the bed was a little too springy and stiff.

Very helpful staff, very clean. Free hot breakfast was good (scrambled eggs, sausage, yogurt bar, oatmeal bar, donuts, rolls, bagels, juice, coffee). Free Wifi (a bit slow). The rooms were very nice and come with a mini fridge and microwave. The only negatives I could find are trivial at best but worth noting — the hotel staff refused to accommodate our late check out request so be sure you're out by 12 noon, no HD TV channels (although they have lots of cable channels), the breakfast appears to be the same everyday (so if you don't like what I posted — be sure to make alternate plans). I would probably stay here again.

Drove 6.5 hours with our paralyzed dog to see a Dr at Iowa States Vet Clinic to see if he could be accepted into their clinical trial, check in was uneventful. Room was clean, lobby was nice. The clock alarm went off at midnight which was annoying. We had gone out many times over night to take our dog outside to potty many of which he was in his wheelchair, in the morning my husband took our dog out once again and when my husband came in he was questioned about what room we were in to verify we had paid the additional 10 pet fee, again annoying. Then we went down for breakfast which we have to bring our dog with us because we cannot leave him alone in an unfamiliar place or he could injure himself. He is a small dog about 15lbs and was in his pet cushion instead of his wheelchair so he wouldn't have to stand the whole time we ate. As I was eating my cereal the same kid who questioned my husband earlier told me we had to leave the dining room, he wasn't allowed. I explained he was paralyzed and can not be left unattended and he was not creating any issues and he said "well I guess he can stay" by this time other people are already watching the exchange and we already felt insulted so we took our food and paralyzed pup back upstairs and ate our breakfast on the floor.

Staff could have been friendlier but the rooms were very clean and the bed was one of the best hotel beds I've slept on.

I spent three nights at the Best Western in Ames during a recent business trip. The room appears have been renovated within the past two or three years, and was clean and comfortable. All furnishings are new, including television and bed. The bed, pillows and linens were reasonably comfortable for an economy-level hotel; sleep quality was good. The breakfast was also unexpectedly good for an economy-level hotel. Yogurt bar with 8 or 10 good toppings; eggs and bacon; selection of bagels and pastries; waffle maker; cereal; juices and milk. Pleased with the offerings. I utilized the fitness facility, which was slightly above average for a hotel, and better than most economy hotels I've stayed at. While it only had three cardio machines, there was a new set of free weights with a bench, as well as a multi-use cable weight machine; mirrors, rubber floor, water and towels available. There is also a small pool and hot tub, which I did not utilize. The location is nothing special, right off the interstate with no desireable restaurants or anything nearby. Easy and short drive to ISU Campus, and adjacent to Business Park. Not walkable to anything. If you walk/run from the rear of the property and to the East through the business park (no sidewalks, about half a mile) there is access to a crushed limestone trail that connects to the City's bike/run/walk trail system. This is a very nice trail, and highly suggest it for runners.

I paid for 2 nights but only stayed 1 as the fight next door, meaning the next room was sooo bad I was scared for the grandkids life. Called the front desk but fight kept going and even woke up the children.

This was a very nice place. The staff was friendly, and the continental breakfast was excellent! It had an indoor pool and hot tub too. There was also a very nice convenient store next door.
