It is great place to stay.

Good place to stop for the night. We had a good amount of space & we appreciated having separate rooms because we had a baby with us. There was a full-size fridge & a couple of stovetop burners. Everything seemed clean, but not super new. It seemed to be a popular place for longer-term stays for people working in the area, but we only needed to stay one night. Don't pick this place for the pool or workout room, both left something to be desired. The workout room smelled overwhelmingly like chlorine, so we didn't have interest in trying to venture into the pool area. The workout room had three machines (an elliptical, a bike, & a treadmill), so I guess it'll get the job done.

My daughter is a student at ISU, Grandstay is our "go to hotel" when we come visit. In the past 4 years, I had not had a bad experience. If something isn't right, I take it to the front desk and it is taken care of with in a couple hours (depending on the nature of the issue). The breakfast has always been good with plenty to choose from and I like having "my own" mini kitchen. Restaurants increase the cost of travel, why visit a restaurant when I can go to the grocery store and pick a few things up. What doesn't get used, my daughter takes to her apartment.

Everything about this place is awesome. So many extras and the rooms are clean and smell like the hotel is brand new. Although I’ve only been here two days and have at least a month more to go, I know that my review is and still will be spot on. I find myself very happy hanging out in our room while
My husband works.

It is overall a nice hotel. The rooms were pretty clean for a hotel. There were some oddiites with the rooms, they didn't have light switches, they only have lamps. The service was good but pool at the hotel was pretty small.

Great rooms for a great price even during Iowa Games. Staff was friendly and we will stay again if in the area. Pool is on the smaller side, but it was just fine for our group.

The second shift clerk was more then happy to meet all of needs with a very professional and homestyle manner! House keeping does amazing work with the cleanliness too! Extremely pleased!

I use hot tub/pool sometimes and if suffices. It isn't great but not necessarily bad.

Wonderful stay. So much attention to detail it's almost like home. Comfortable and clean, friendly staff. Will definitely stay here again.

Reserved a 2-bedroom suite, received a 1-bedroom. No attempts were made to correct the problem. "We are sold out", was the reason. Pull out couch had a bunch of dirt chunks on top of the mattress. Continental breakfast wasn't great either. Best part of it was the belgian waffles you could make on your own. Old Chicago is attached to the hotel, which was pretty good.

Clean and professional. Room was very comfortable and had everything I'd expect.

The cable box sucked, and if you have to sleep on the fold out beds you're gonna have a bad time. It's fine otherwise.

The outside is very attractive, never got to step foot inside, my better half was in there for an interview, although I've heard many positive things about GrandStay Hotel & Suites.

Very nice hotel! This it's our first time staying at a GrandStay Hotel, but if we were looking for a hotel the upper Midwest, we would definitely look at GrandStay first.

My mother and I stayed here for a night while my mom's furbaby was in surgery. The rooms were great but we ended our stay very early due to the dog not making it through. The staff were VERY understanding and didn't charge us for the enitial week we had reserved. Id reccommend this hotel to anyone!

Hotel was nicely kept, the front door staff was good, breakfast was served free from 6a-10a, showers have a lot of pressure, and the hotel suite was great for the price.

Loved the room. It was clean. We had a suite with a full kitchen. The dishes were clean and we had pans for cooking. The amenities were nice and I enjoyed the breakfast. I would stay here again.

Convenient location near Interstate and US Hwy. Rooms have a kitchen with stove, microwave, dishwasher (with dishes)! First room has the kitchen and den with sofabed. The second room has a comfortable bed and closet. The bathroom is modern and clean like the rest of the place. The free breakfast is great and they have at least one hot item featured each day, in addition to the waffle maker. Surprisingly, you could hear people walking in the room above you fairly easily. I would request a top floor room next time. A couple we were traveling with had a malfunctioning AC unit. Management responded appropriately with a box fan and a partial refund without any hassle. That is a mark of good customer service.

Awesome place. Old Chicago is attached and has great service and food.

Type of room: 1 Queen bed suite Amenities: Full sized fridge Two burner range Living room area with chair and love seat Bathroom: Shower-bathtub combination — showerhead and faucet were not in good condition. Large enough space in the bathroom for a 6'3" male. Overall a fine hotel room, but the shower was not convenient for someone over 5'10".

Best option for families! A full sized refrigerator and a mini kitchen, helps save money on eating out to have more to spend having fun! Friendly staff and great location (right off the highway) just add to the experience. Overall this is a great hotel!

In general, the hotel was very clean and had good service. My only complaint was that I wish I had more consumables such as toilet paper and tissues available in my room so I didn't have to ask the front desk. A mild inconvenience, though. Lovely staff, good breakfast options, decent little pool and hot tub. Overall I would absolutely recommend if you're in the area.

We had a great stay! Clean, comfortable and spacious rooms with friendly and helpful front desk personnel! We will definitely stay here again the next time we come to Ames!

Room was great. Staff was awesome. Had a whole bunch of food brought in for our BB team and there were no complaints. I will stay here again on my next trip down.

The staff is very nice and I told the lady at the front desk about something that was on the ground and she had it taken care of with in just minutes.

Pretty standard hotel with nice suite style rooms. Clean, good location close to Iowa State University, attached to a nice pizza place. The hot-tub was closed when I was there, which was a bummer.

Very good. Service, amenities, location. Room was great. Had full kitchen in room. Really good hotel in Ames. Would recommend.

Overall very satisfied. Nice rooms, very comfortable beds, and a good location. I was a little disappointed in how small the parking lot is, especially since the lot is shared between the hotel and other restaurants. Also they charged me for a toothbrush, normally I've had to just ask at the front desk and they'll give you one. Overall pleasant stay.

They had amazing customer service! It's a beautiful, clean, and nice place to stay. It's worth for what you're paying for! My family was picking me up from college in Minnesota, and our car broke down in the middle of Iowa, we didn't know anybody so we came in to see if they had any available rooms, and even though it was way before checking time, they were so nice to accommodate us! Great place for the entire family!

Had a very nice time kids loved the pool the room was nice had a very nice breakfast for us in the morning definitely will be going back.

Great price during the middle of the week. Huge space, kitchen, living room, and a bedroom. Only hotel in Ames with a bar attached to it.

We cannot wait to stay in Ames again and spend more time at the Grandstay Hotel. What a fabulous place to stay. We didn't get a chance to check out the breakfast, but the room was spotless, and so well equipped if you wish to prepare your own food. The staff was beyond accomodating.

We were very impressed with the quality, space and especially price of both the Two Bed Studio and the Two Bedroom Suite our family stayed in 7/18/10. All their hotel rooms are kitchenette types with full size frig. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The free breakfast was not huge, but there was more than adequate selection, and very tasty (e. G. Scrabbled eggs, sausage links and make-your-own waffles). The breakfast space is somewhat small for the size of the hotel. I'm surprised by a few very negative reviews by others, but there are occasional glitches anywhere.
