Reviews of Holiday Inn Express & Suites 2*
We had to wait an hour after check in time to get a clean room. The door was very hard to open and shut. There was a lot of noise/banging in the hall and street noise in the morning. Super small bathroom space.
Facing a parking garage and sled for a view when I reserved the room. They did give me points for my next stay at one of their hotels.
Last night between 2am and 6:30am the fire alarm went off 11 times. Only one elevator was working. Friendly staff and good location but still not worth the less expensive rate of nearby hotels.
Great amenities! Free breakfast is a must!
Great location. AWESOME breakfast selection!. Very helpful and professional staff… highly recommend.
Great location walking distance to major tourist attractions of the city, and free breakfast!.
Great location and you can walk throughout downtown and to the underground.
Good hotel… nice rooms and welcoming front desk.
Great room, excellent location, friendly staff.
Great staff, they were very happy and helpful
Great job!
Staff and valet staff are extremely pleasant! They made the stay wonderful! 5 stars!
I called to inform the staff I would be arriving late. Reggie said Ms. Bernita welcome and will have everything ready for you. Reggie checked me in before I got there. Upon arriving service was Phenomenal, from the greeting to the valet service. It just felt like home. Kim the customer service agent smile and hospitality was beyond great. Reggie and Kim took very good care of me. As I checked out Kim said Reggie told us to make sure we took care of Ms. Bernita and that they did. I would recommend Holiday Inn and Suites 111 Cone St to everyone.
Decent hotel. Not bad price. It is within walking distance of World of Coca Cola and the aquarium. The hotel is pretty nice inside, although it could use some touch ups in some spaces. The parking is the biggest issue. It has valet with is $30 per night, but where you have to park for the valet can be somewhat difficult. Overall a good hotel though.
Rooms are small if you have 4 staying in one room. Parking is not free;we were told this when I called to make reservations. Their main building sign is not immediately visible from the road. The valet signs are easily hidden when cars are parked in front of them. Did not get agood night's sleep due to noisy AC unit and noisy refrigerator. Otherwise, the staff was extremely courteous, friendly, and helpful. If given the opportunity, I might stay here again.
Nice, clean hotel with friendly staff. Seems to be recently renovated, but you can tell it's an old building. Decent breakfast.
Parking was not free. Had to keep setting an alarm to feed the meter all night. It is not on the website. Very deceitful. Front desk tried to accommodate us with free snacks. Did not make up for the money spent on parking. Cost more to park, than get here. Unpleasant stay. No sleep, wouldn't expect this from a Holiday Inn. Even if you chose not to park valet, should have been other options.
Arius checked us in around 3 this afternoon and was awesome! She was kind and cordial even in the midst of a busy rush. She was even thoughtful enough to get us in a larger room to accommodate my daughter who’s recovering from ACL surgery. Way to go Arius! Great job and thanks so much!
Staff was very friendly and helpful. We came in to town for Kids Nationals for wrestling with the state of Pennsylvania. There were a lot of us and they did great trying to get us all in our room. We had a room issue and Reggie, Q and Michael did amazing to get us into a room. Those 3 went above and beyond to help us out!
Very nice. Downtown. Valet parking only. Friendly staff. Clean room, w/ desk, couch. Clean bath, good shower, however due to space concern, vanity is outside the bathroom. I think all Holiday Inns have Great beds for a Great night sleep. Most affordable and being located downtown, it's within walking distance to many good restaurants, parks, businesses, shopping.
The staff is extremely helpful and kind. I was almost shocked at how on top of everything and how curtious they were. I stayed at the Omni last year and the staff there was unfriendly and not helpful at all. Holiday Inn has a complimentary breakfast which was actually pretty good. Some places say they have breakfast but it is only yogurt and cereal but they had pancakes, omelets, and sausage, which were all excellent. The room itself was really small and the bathroom even smaller than expected. I had a broken ankle when visiting so getting around the room was next to impossible, and is the only reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5. Other than the really small room/bathroom, which under different circumstances may not have been a terrible thing, it was a great stay.
Our group of 4 reserved a room with 1 King Bed and a pullout couch. Because there were 4 of us, we called earlier in the day to ask if there were any rooms with 2 double beds. We were told they were overbooked by 5 rooms and there were no longer any rooms with 2 double beds available. Around bedtime, we realized the room had no bedding available for the pull out bed. We called the front desk to inquire. We were told, “Come down to the front desk to grab it”. There was no offer to bring the items to us. Not that big of a deal. The worst comes later. Went to front desk to grab the bedding. In front of me, I heard a group who had just walked in and booked a suddenly available room that had 2 double beds. I overheard them speaking and asked about how these rooms came available when earlier we were told there were no available rooms. No explanation was given. My question was met with blank stares. Instead I was given a single blanket for a pull out couch. No pillows. No sheets. Just a single blanket. Save your money and sleep on the street. Same quality with less of a headache.

Room was excellent. Comfortable bed and seating area. Stayed on the 9th floor and had an awesome view. Parking a little pricey but expected from downtown areas.
It's a decent hotel for the price. Got a room here with my wife to go see a concert at GSU stadium. It's a short walk to the MARTA stop which takes you right to the stadium. (Maybe 3 blocks walk on each end. ) The hotel is also very close to the aquarium and the World of Coke attraction. The hotel was not in perfect condition; it could use some light fixing up. A few guests had issues with their room keys while we were there. Free breakfast was really cheap, but what can you expect? The beds were comfy, but felt a little small. If you're staying in Atlanta and need a cheap room, this isn't a bad choice.
Rooms were not large as had been reviewed, but they are not unbearable! Great location not far from Olympic park and close to the convention center. Great restaurants within waffling distance. Price wss the best in the area, with free breakfast daily.
Okay to stay, staffs were good and helpful, pleasant breakfast servers were polite. We stayed here all the attractions were in walking distance, only hotel to have microwave in every room I needed with my little one to milk warm. You can opt this hotel.
Wasn't the nicest place and there was a weird smell in the room. We did online reservation for 3 rooms and were no where near each other so that sucked. The view of downtown was beautiful from our room though. We had a little issue with check in but Ca'Tera was amazing help getting that settled and through our whole visit. Breakfast was no ordinary hotel breakfast those lovely ladies put some love into it, absolutely delicious. They even refilled drinks at the table!
Walls are very thin and the rooms are small. The crowd here appears to be for tourists mainly and is loud. Had a party going on most of the night in the room next door till 3am. The beds are generally uncomfortable and the bathrooms are very small too. Breakfast ain't bad, and folks at front desk are very polite. Unless they offer an unbeatable price, I'd stay elsewhere.
This hotel is located within walking distance of Centennial Park, Georgia Aquarium, and the World of Coca-Cola. We used the fitness room which was clean and well kept. The continental breakfast was good and had a good variety of foods. The hotel staff were friendly and helpful. I would stay here again and recommend it to others.
Very thin walls, right now as I type I'm listening to a screaming baby in the room next to us and in the other room next to us, laughing and talking. There is no parking lot! They only have valet parking that you pay $25 for, your car key is left with them your entire stay, then when you get ready to leave, they go get your car and bring it to you. I have no idea where they parked my car. The carpet stinks, the bathroom is small, so small that 2 whole bodies can not fit in there at the same time, if your room is on the front side of the building you can hear everything with a motor going up and down the street. I'm not bullshittn either! Oh, and our phone in our room does not work, thank God for cellphones. The towels, washcloths, and sheets are pretty and white, and our room is very clean, no complaints there. The staff is professional, nice and friendly though, this is not their fault at all! I only gave this one star because I was not able to post this review with giving any stars…
Though I stay at Holiday Inn Express locations frequently, rarely is it in the downtown of a big city like Atlanta, so I do not think it would be appropriate to compare this stay to my typical experience, or it would earn two stars… For example, never before has my window offered a view of a concrete wall, but I assume for a downtown location it is not that uncommon. Because of this, i'll simply leave it to the facts: This location meets most of my expectations of the brand, but does not particularly exceed any. Upon arrival the service was great, as expected of the brand. The hotel was clean and kept well. It is an older building in the middle of a face-lift, though I could not tell how major it will be. The rooms were clean, pleasant, and comfortable, though by no means luxurious for a king suite. Things felt a tad bit cramped and crowded, but again that may just be a factor of the location. The price per night may be a great for the location, but the feeling that I was staying at an older, slightly out-dated, well-trafficked hotel remains. Overall, it was a pleasant stay, and i'm sure it will be even better after the renovations, though it would have difficulty climbing to the 5-star tier.
Old facility with recent updates/renovations. Very small rooms and bathroom spaces. Fitness facility is very small and quaint but has equipment of excellent quality. Free breakfast was GREAT and Delish! The staff are very very courteous and professional (P. S. The staff can tell you about EVERYTHING in Atlanta, so no need for a tour guide or other travel resources. )
Wonderful staff in a dated house. Clean and unpretentious in the best Holiday Inn tradition. Excellent location in the middle of Atlanta's party place, but lots of real commercial activity within a few blocks. As well. Traffic is an issue, this place was absolutely inaccessible on New Year's Eve. Police blocking traffic BLOCKS away…
Room was nice with a wonderful view. Bathroom smelled faintly like raw sewage. I was refused service at breakfast because I was only in my socks with no shoes.
Nice staff and facility. No drapery over the bathroom window though, that's a drawback. I didn't particularly like letting all of downtown Atlanta have a view of the bathroom I use. They do have excellent staff though. Everyone said hello or asked if they could make our stay any better. They also have a complimentary breakfast which was great and had lots of variety. We also had a weird experience where someone who didn't look all that with it stumbled into the lobby when we were there and security wasn't really paying attention. Luckily the manager we were working with was and was able to resolve the issue.
The rooms were nice and clean, the staff was nice and friendly, the food was good, and the valet was cheap for overnight parking downtown. They are doing a remodel right now so some of the floors are kind of messy. From an I. T. Security point of view there were some issues with unsecured electrical closets and open fire exits which may allow unauthorized access to floors and key services.
OK, although there are things that could improve.
I stayed in day in this hotel. They offer breakfast included and the rooms are spacious for 2 double bed. The phone did not work well to communicate with the front desk; Wi-Fi available but in little slow if two people are streaming. Quite almuahdas and the bed a little firm for my taste. This localisado is less than a 10 minute walk from the five Points metro station (MARTA) which takes you to the airport in 20 minutes. It is also 17 min (walking) from Capitol parents Georgia State University, and towards the other direction 10 min (walking) to CNN Center Tours, Centennial Olympic Park, ATL Aquarium and other museums. There are places to eat around, and not very far (driving) from downtown ATL.
Proximity to GWCC — walking distance — Nice neighborhood — close to CNN, World of Coca-Cola, and Olympic Park etc.
Great location near centennial Olympic park. Clean. Friendly and helpful staff. Enjoyed the complimentary hot breakfast.
Location was great! We walked to the Aquarium, and Centennial Olympic Park. The room was small, but it was all we needed. Valet was fast and the employees were friendly.
Hotel in a good central downtown location. Good for walking to CNN Center, Mercedes Benz Stadium, etc, but hotel is dated, elevators small and slow. Only 5 ppl at one time can ride. Ok for the training I was there for. Great roof top view of the city.
We never made it past the front desk because of the terrible front desk service here. There was a problem with our reservation (a hotel system error), which happens, but the incompetence and laziness we met when we tried to check in was unbelievable. The girls were rude, didn't seem to want to help us, and kept saying management was "out to lunch" and refused to find a solution. Not to mention, we called hours before to confirm and give them time to solve the issue. If this is the kind of attitude allowed from staff here, I wouldn't waste your time or money. Plenty of other places. So much for southern hospitality!
Great location for the aquarium, world of coke, or any of the other downtown activities. Friendly and helpful staff. One tip, use the hotel valet parking. It is less expensive than self parking in the deck!
This hotel is wonderful. They upgraded our room when we checked in and it's really nice. The night concierge handed me a bottle of water when I arrived at 4 am from a very delayed flight, which was exactly what I needed. When I asked if they had complimentary toothpaste, instead of handing me one of those tiny tubes they gave me a travel sized Colgate. The day concierge was really fun and friendly when I needed to leave a key for a friend and later another concierge made a lovely recommendation for a casual dinner spot and provided us cards for a $5 burger, which was more than1/2 the price of most of the burgers. This is one of my best hotel stays.
Front desk staff white male was sexist and rude during my check in process no free parking — only valet offered (for $25) — but no valet was working during check in time… so I had to self park in a garage the breakfast area was small so the staff constantly had to restock items during breakfast time. The woman restocking coffee did not smile, greet anyone, and was constantly in the way of people trying to pick up items to eat. the beds were very comfortable. the room was very small, barely enough room to slide a suitcase in the path between the bed and TV stand. there were bugs in the bathtub upon arrival and the toiletries were wet, which leads me to believe the housekeeping had not changed soaps/shampoos since the last guest checked out. the location of the hotel is good — near places to eat and centennial park/tourist things.
As with any downtown location, I found myself getting lost a couple of times. When I finally found it, I could not park my vehicle myself. I had to use valet which was an additional charge. Upon entering the hotel, I learned that I was in the ninth floor. I was ecstatic about that. Although the elevator was small, it was clean. The hallways are extremely narrow, which makes it difficult to be with multiple people. The room was intimate and the view was nice. The customer service agents were very pleasant and helpful.
My experience was beautiful I could not ask for nothing more. I check in at 8 pm the gentlemen at the front desk was professional n polite n his protocol was awesome. He answered every question n filled every need. I mean this, my first time to Atlanta he gave answers to soul food places offered a wake up call n ask if I needed a taxi to be waiting and ready. Now mind u it was on point. The room two king size beds 4 fluffy pillows and fresh sheets and blankets, the shower water was good n hit! Plenty of towels, A/C was great We slept like a baby. Holiday Inn In Hawaii we call that Aloha Spirit, the gentlemen that checked us out was warm n friendly and that cab was on time. In Hawaii we say Zmahalo fir such a great experience.
Great hotel in a great location! While the rooms were okay but nothing special, the real best feature of this place is it's free breakfast buffet! It's also within walking distance from many attractions and great restaurants in the downtown area. The staff were also very friendly and welcoming. We will definitely stay there again next time we're in the area.
Best experience I had I been a lot of places and for some reason always avoided the holiday inn but I finally stayed at and I have to say it was definitely the best staff is awesome service breakfast just everything about it was wonderful from now on I will be staying at holiday inn express only.
As we're checking in yesterday we couldn't tell who the valet was because there seemed to be people who didn't work for the hotel lingering/loitering at the front door. Parking around here is a nightmare and the fees border on usurious.
Two of our three key cards don't work on a consistent basis.
Not only is the complementary breakfast sparse, they ran out of eggs less than halfway thru the posted breakfast hours.
During breakfast two young women were playing music from their phones at a loud volume. When I politely asked them to turn it off they told me they didn't have to… so I left after only eating half my breakfast. I told the breakfast staff about the girls before I left to fix my defective key card.
After I hopefully fixed the card about five minutes later I asked the manager how she resolved the issue with the young women. She said she told the girls "I'm acting on a complaint about your music. Could you please turn it down. " Not "you ladies shouldn't have your music on down here at all. " In so many words she's telling them it's still ok to listen to music but someone complained, so you need to turn it down a bit.
Then there's the rooms… the bathroom (granite countertops and new fixtures are one saving grace. ) isn't much bigger than a closet and the closet to hang your clothes in is at the opposite end of the room from where you would dress after getting out of the shower. The dresser drawers are faded and crooked.
The rooms are tiny the bathroom as well. The breakfast can not be described as such. All about the selberholen and not for Europeans. We went next door at the West Inn. The better hotel and also is still cheaper. Definitely not to recommend!
I booked on our meeting site at the last minute. It was the cheapest hotel left. Considering that, I was pleased with the accommodations. The room was well appointed and clean with an up-dated decor, but cramped. The space between the foot of the bed and the dresser was no more than 24 inches, at most. Also, the table and chairs could not be used by two people at the same time unless they were child-sized because the set up was squeezed in between the wall and the dresser. The room had a mini-fridge and a coffee maker. The bed was comfortable with a choice of soft and firm pillows. The TV was a good size and the channel line-up was more extensive than the listing showed. The bath was good-sized, but the tissue was a bit of a reach. The noise from the hallway and other rooms was noticeable, but not overly loud. The location was convenient for Olympic park, Georgia Convention Center and the restaurants of Peachtree Street, but the walk to Peachtree was past the back side of several buildings. I didn't feel particularly safe walking there at night by myself (middle-aged woman) although I had no problems. If the price once again worked out as one of the cheaper downtown hotels, I would gladly stay there again.
Front desk was helpful and kind. I received a 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom suite that was more than I needed, but very nice, nonetheless (Possibly a result of my reward member status). Bed was comfortable and had good bedding that kept me warm without overheating all night long. Bathroom had ample light and good water pressure. Location was good for access to an expo I was attending at the World Congress center. Breakfast, as with all HIE hotels is consistent, but lackluster. Overall, very happy with my stay and with the brand.
Great location, easy walk to attractions, great service attendant opened up breakfast room so I could get something for my young son to drink late. Elevators are small but who cares — _ — really, our room was cozy with a great view of the sky wheel. Your in downtown so expect to pay more.
Great valet service. Breakfast is nice. It was buffet like, some of the attendants were nice but had one to close too early to feed people working there and that's cool but as a guest I paid for the service. Make sure your discounts that are told to you are on paper. No pool, maybe because it's the express holiday inn. Extra fees to it.
The people are nice at the front desk. But the rooms are not cleaned very well. We found hairs in the bed and on the floor and in the bathroom. They didn't give us a fresh roll of toilet paper when we got there. We also weren't expecting to have to pay for valet which was $25 a night on top of the price for the room. The room was just… A room. Literally room for a bed and TV. There was a small nightstand and surprisingly a fridge and microwave. But it is a very small room for the price we paid but it was a team hotel and the cheapest out of them. This wouldn't be my first choice if I came back to Atlanta. Also be careful because there are 2 holiday inns in downtown and we went to the wrong one at first.
Well every time I came back to the hotel I would have to re connect to the Wi-Fi and put the password back in (it got annoying), tiny elevators, small bathrooms (oh don't plan to take a bath the plug to stop and hold the water from going down the drain does not work) the veiw was of a parking garage, really nice front desk people (on the first couple days I was here), the cleaning, lady threw away my 70 $ case, money, selfie stick cause it was in a paper bag so she thought it was trash but the only way I got it back was because we asked the maintenance man if he could help and he looked through the trash for me, the cleaner said she did not touch it (yea ok)
First of all the veiws and the room was great, but the service here is just crap and the front desk manager was a complete dick the whole time. They have a policy where if you forget a tolietry item, they are supposed to provide you with a complimentary one for the mean time. So I call and the manager was a douche and was rude the whole time saying they dont provide room service and saying they just put those in the room to satisfy the customer.
First of all front desk a plus! But this hotel is the worst hotel I have stayed in and traveling I stay in many. My hubsand and I are IHG holders so we know the demand of a clean suitable hotel. The hotel had a bad odor when you walk in. Only 2 people and small size luggage can fit in the elevator. Rooms were closet size and the bedding was nasty. Breakfast was cheap and not tasteful. PLEASE, monitor housekeeping and make sure that are ACTUALLY cleaning the rooms and carpet. I will not stay again. To each their own. I am a country girl from the South so I don't complain, but this was unacceptable. I rather sleep in my car.
The worst sevice the worse staff being waiting for our room since 12 am they keep in saying until 12 then 1 then 3 omg.
The elevators don't work properly. The staff is real friendly but the rooms are tight. I'm staying in a double when it's only me. The hallway is very narrow. Honestly I don't mean to seem ungrateful. But this is ridiculous. The staff is the only good thing about this hotel is the reason I'll rate it a 3
Obviously old office building converted to hotel. Could hardly maneuver luggage cart through narrow halls. Room a/c never cooled room. Microwave next to bed. Too many turns and walls creating very small spaces. Could barely get in/out of bath due to toilet in the way. $25 valet parking seemed very expensive. Was going to stay 2 nights but cancelled second night immediately afted getting into my room. I am a devoted Holiday Inn customer and only stay at their hotels. Travel 25-30 nights per year. Most disappointing stay ever.
Too small. We had to get new keys twice because they didn't work.
My fiancé and I reserved a room at this hotel for New Year's. The ONLY good thing about this hotel was the location. From the minute we walked through the door we realized that the photo's we saw online were greatly exaggerated. The lobby was not at all as nice as the hotel pictures made it seem. Not to mention the smell. We were greeted by the STRONG smell of cigarettes well before we were greeted by the gentleman at the front desk. While trying to check in he spent more time on the phone and speaking to another co-worker around the corner than giving proper customer service to us. After checking in, we took two steps over from the front desk to the elevator door, when it opened the elevator was smaller than an airplane bathroom and clearly needs new flooring. We got to our floor, squeezed out of the elevator and as soon as we turned the comer our the hall where our room was located we were greeted by another STRONG smell that engulfed the entire hallway. Marijuana and more cigarettes! We got to our room, (eyes probably glazed over at that point) and opened the door to the fanciest MOTEL ROOM we had ever seen. The room was EXTREMELY SMALL, the micro wave and refrigerator did not work, there was a narrow hole/opening in the wall they used as a closet, the bathroom was again smaller than an airplane restroom with enough space to hit your elbow on EVERY wall if you tried to turn around, but. At least we were able to enjoy our lovely view of the parking garages around the hotel.
Rooms are clean and nice but smaller than the median hotels of this class. Professional staff and good location.
I stayed at this hotel for three nights. The room was nice and clean. The breakfast was better then most continental served at other hotels. The service was great. I did have one complaint. My brand new tablet (Samsung Tab 4) could not connect to the hotel's internet. Malik and Darrin (the two who worked that night), worked with IT to try to help me out. They also were very helpful in giving/printing out instructions to help our group find our conference site. I even left something in my room once we checked out, and the group working the day shift went and located it for me and put it up until I arrive. The service at this hotel as exceptional. I would definitely stay at this location in the future.
Easy walking distance to the conference we were attending at the Georgia World Conference Center (and MUCH less than the Omni! ), also the awesome Aquarium — — no problem walking after an evening event there. The hotel staff was the nicest I can remember encountering, esp. Gigi at night, Tracy during the day, and the female breakfast chef who didn't think my omelet was coming out right, made another one and brought it to the table. They went out of their way on every request for help, made keys at the drop of a hat at least a 1/2 dozen times for people in our party who'd lost them. Willing to help troubleshoot at the business center, make copies at 11 pm, print file from their computers that the business center computer wouldn't print. Staff frequently asked if they could help on anything. Very comfortable room with fridge, great view from the upper floors.
I came into town this weekend for the NCAA Championship tournament and the staff and employees made the experience so enjoyable. From the moment we walked into the door, we were offered a goody bag with NCAA gifts. The rooms are spacious and the bathrooms are surprisingly nice. Also, any need or question we had was met with a quick prompt and courteous response. I highly recommend this Holiday Inn and they will surely get my business again next time I visit Atlanta.

RespondI called the 1-800 number to book the night at the hotel and was told there was an attached parking ramp and it was an additional $10 to park overnight. Obviously this was wrong. Parking was in a public ramp across the street and smelled like urine. The room was tiny. I understand that being labeled an "express" hotel, the rooms would be a little smaller than normal. I didn't expect that opening the door all the way wouldn't be possible. The TV stand was in the way, and looked like it had been banged up by the door a few times before. There was walking room, but that's about it. The bathroom was a decent size, and was bright. However, the stopper didn't work so I couldn't use the tub. The AC didn't cool the room at all. It was 112 that day, and the air wasn't even on before I got to my room. I had it set at 65 and it ran all night and barely cooled off. The rooms next to me were occupied by loud and obnoxious people, I called the front desk and complained at 3:30 am and they did nothing. Also, there were people running up and down the halls yelling on and off until about 2 am. The pictures of the lobby are misleading, it's not that nice.
