The staff is absolutely the nicest! The view of Bay bridge is awesome.

It was an excellent location, furnishings and cleanliness excellent. Smallish room, but we wanted a good nights sleep. Our fun was out on the town.

Perfect view of the Bay Bridge. Staff was extremely friendly, accommodations were totally fulfilled by allowing us to have an early check in, and uprgraded our bed size. Very clean, very nice and cozy rooms, a lil small, but, very comfortable.

Such a great place to stay. Great budget, an love the bar downstairs.

We spent the weekend there for my birthday and we really enjoyed it. The room was very clean and the service was excellent. There are a lot of things you can do on a walking distance. We had dinner at Perry’s and the food and the atmosphere is very good. I definitely recommend this hotel and I cannot wait to come back again.

Very nice location right downtown with nice bar and restaurant in the lobby. Room was small but very comfortable but who expects a huge room in this real estate?

Unacceptable levels of noise from both the hallway and the street. It's 1 AM right now. There are people shouting outside at all hours of the night and someone has been doing construction since about 9 PM. The side facing the bay might be better, but this may be the first time I've ever had to check out of a hotel early.

Hotel Griffon has very friendly staff who were eager to help us with whatever we wanted. We asked for more pillows and towels and they were there very quickly. The bed was super comfortable as well which is a plus! I hate when you stay somewhere and they cheap out on the bed. Housekeeping did a very good job as well making our bed and tidying up our room. Our room was a queen and somewhat small but we were located in such a great area it was just fine for my wife and I. We were there on our 15th anniversary and we both were pleased. Our dear friends were with us and it was their 10 year anniversary. They went all out and got the top floor eastern facing room with a breathtaking view of the bay bridge. We didn't get a view. Their room was 3 times as big as ours and had couches and multiple TV's. It was their best room I imagine. I somewhat regret not dining downstairs at Perry's. We had so much scheduled from morning to night that we just didn't have time in our 3 day stay. It looks very good, dimly lit, and perfect for a good meal and cocktail hour. If I were to head to SF again I would strongly consider staying here again. When you find something good, you should stick with it.

This hotel is located in the port area. It is great for access to the sea front port area and fisherman's wharf. The hotel has its own restaurant and bar area, which is accessible from both the front and back of the hotel. The reception staff are both courteous and friendly, the service was also efficient. The hotel is very traditional in style around the reception and bar areas. The lift up to the other floors, is not exactly modern, but has character. The rooms are nicely decorated, with exposed bricks as a feature. The beds are firm but very comfortable and all areas were very clean. The toilet and shower area was not big and I was surprised that the wash basin was in the bedroom, rather than the bathroom. Wi-Fi was free and easily accessible throughout the building. I did not eat in the hotel, apart from the freely accessible fruit in reception on a morning, which was next to the free tea and coffee. This is a very nice touch. Overall the hotel is a good place to stay and I would definitely chose it again, if here on business.

Our stay at the Hotel Griffon was nothing short of AMAZING. The room was clean and updated, the location was close to everything we wanted to do, but most of all the staff are FANTASTIC. We took our 1 year old son, and they catered to our every need — had a pack n play our room, booked us extra nights when Yosemite closed down (due to the forest fires), and treated us like royalty. Next time we come to San Francisco, we wouldn't stay anywhere else.

Horrible experience. For the price they were charging not worth it. The sink in the bathroom, no AC (or atleast it wasn’t working) no view, but worst was the smell. Old dusky smell, some good receptionist, some didn’t care. Definitely not going there, go to Hyatt or Westin in Union square. MUCH better. The smell was overwhelming, came down with severe allergies and migraine. Did not feel clean at all.

The hotel was clean and safe with helpful and friendly staff. In a great location right off of the Embarcadero. Wonderful bar and restaurant located in lobby. Very reasonable rates especially for the area. We plan on returning.

The hotel is located near the water and walking distance to the pier but far from other places. We arrived at night and there was no place to park but valet so get ready to spend $60 and must be out by 3PM the next day. Luckily the person at the front desk was a sweetheart and helped us to leave the car there till 5PM so we can explore the area. The room is soooo tiny. I opened the door and walked into the bed which was 1 foot from the door. The room was clean. The bathroom is very small.

Nice friendly staff. Love the water refill station. Clean room. Enjoyable stay. The room is a little small — the door barely opens because the bed is right there. Not much open space. But overall still a very enjoyable stay.

Was booked here by someone else and it was a great stay! The robes in the room are pretty luxurious and the beds were comfortable. The room was a little awkward as the sink was in the main area with the bed and not in the bathroom, but old hotels can be like that. Smack dab on the embarcadero with great views of the Bay Bridge. The financial district is a bit of a dead zone after hours and on weekends but the bar/restaurant downstairs is great and has fantastic happy hour.

Great location and staff Great location, near the Pittsburgh-Bay "Embarcadero" station, for those coming from the SFO airport. Nice and quiet street right next to the Ferry Marketplace, a great place for food lovers. Great service from Sharon at the front desk, expediting a room for us after a red-eye flight and spend almost one hour giving us tips of good places to visit and how to get around. The room was fully renovated, was comfortable and well designed to make good use of the space. If your room is not on the last floor, you can still take the elevator and see the view from the hall.

This is a funny little hotel. Rooms are very small yet very comfortable. Also nothing is level, one end of the room is a different level than the other end. Nice staff, clean, and has a nice restaurant and bar. Will definitely stay there again.

First off, the staff are the greatest hotel staff ever. They really do a good job at making you feel welcome. The rooms are a little on the small side, but from I understand that is normal in San Francisco. The rooms are very comfy though. The restaurant in the lobby is pretty good and very convenient after a long day. The location is really nice too and makes it easy to walk places or get to public transportation. I've stayed here twice now for a week apiece and will keep coming back to it any time im in San Francisco.

Found a deal online to stay here, and we were not disappointed. Great location within walking distance to a farmers market where you can enjoy plenty of different kinds of foods. Plus, it is not too far from Fisherman's Wharf if you are up for a 2 mile walk. Excellent hotel, excellent service, and I would definitely stay here again.

Fantastic boutique hotel. Quiet where it matters but nice laid back party atmosphere. Room Was small but comfortable and location was good.

Rooms are small and figuring out the shower was hard than it should have been, but the bed was the best hotel bed I've ever slept on. Almost more comfortable than my bed at home. Slept very well.

The receptionists are so wonderful. They are so kind, so nice. Only the room have problem: It is too small and after using the toilet or bathroom, you have to walk back to your small bedroom and wash your hand in the sink just beside the bedroom.

Great location, nicely decorated room, clean and comfortable bedding.
On the other hand, there was almost no natural light in my luck.
No breakfast, only a tea machine and some fruit.
The hotel offers access to the nearby YMCA.
The Wi-Fi is quite unbearable to use, because the session expires after a few minutes.

I have been in nicer La Quinta and Super 8 motels! This is probably the most overpriced hotel I have ever been in. I tend to prefer luxury and boutique hotels, as they have been an illustration of "you get what you pay for" prior to this experience. The parking situation and valet were nightmares. My room was tiny, even though the woman who checked me in upgraded me to the "large" room because of my need for ADA access. I think the regular room could probably pass as a broom closet. The air conditioning in my room didn't work. It was uncomfortable enough to make me nauseous. The solution of a hotel with exorbitant prices? They provided a cheap, little fan. At $450/ night, I would liked to have had a room with fully functional equipment. No vending was available. I suppose I would have been able to buy water with a trip downstairs to their "water bar", had it been open. One of their big selling points was the view. I haven't any idea what my room may have overlooked due to privacy glass. The elevator is so small it was difficult to transport the luggage, and it was a rickety, old deathtrap. The bed itself wasn't great, but it wasn't too bad. I slept ok, though noise from within the hotel awakened me a few times. The only one within the hotel's purview being having housekeeping pick up the room service trays very early in the morning. (I will concede, however, that having them clean early does make for a more pleasant walk down the hallway.

The room is tiny. The sink is not in the bathroom, but out side the bathroom. It was cozy for a weekend stay in the city. They stock the room with Apothecary products, which I feel is a plus. I can actually use it. They have a restaurant on the 1st floor and breakfast was really tasty. The only bad part was the valet parking. Our truck came back damaged but the hotel didnt give us a run around and turned it into their insurance.

We did not stay at the hotel but we ate at the restaurant inside. It is called Perry's. Great place to eat. We have eaten lunch here many times before. One of our favorite places in San Francisco.

We were allowed to check in early which was really helpful in our case. But when we got back we found that somebody/room service had gotten in to our room and re-made our beds. We thought we'd ask the next day while checking out but couldn't since there was a false fire alarm and we had to get out and wait for everything to settle down. Room was small and ventilation was not great as well. Overall, didn't feel it was worth the price.

Close to everything, we walked everywhere. Great food nearby and Perry's is in the same building. Rooms are on the small side and you have to retest one with a window with a view, special small hotel.

Wonderful boutique hotel… great location… can walk downtown easily as well as to the Pier… easy to access street cars and main routes to get just about anywhere without being trapped on one ways and dead ends. Charming rooms. Great service.

Staff was friendly and accommodating. Room was clean. The view of the bay bridge out of our window was breathtaking, but only certain rooms have the view. Parking was easy.

Food was better than I expected, especially the calamari. Service was good too, and if you can, sit outside and get a view of the bay while you eat.

Staff is great. Location is central, at least for business, which is why I was there. Rooms are smallish, but well appointed and comfortable. Parking a car is $55/night, but maybe that's just San Francisco.

Great location and veiws of the Bay Bridge. I did not stay overnight, but was attending a work conference. Our meeting room was a converted hotel room, so it felt a little small. The elevator is extremely small and there is just one, so we'd have to take multiple trips to get everyone on.

This hotel might be small, but it's a good value in a great location. The rooms are not big, but they are clean, the bed is comfortable, Wi-Fi works well, and the staff is friendly. The restaurant has a good bar, the prices are very reasonable, and the food is very good.

This place calls itself a boutique hotel. The room I have that I am spending way too much money for is smaller than my smallest bedroom. The bathroom is barely the size of my laundry room. So for the price, the value for this hotel isn't there. The staff has been nice. The building is an older building from 1906 to 1907. But I will not be coming back. Too disappointing for the amount of money I spent.

Pretty nice hotel right on the embarcadero. The rooms I've been in are renovated with up to date features. The elevator is a bit small so if that's an issue for you it's something to consider. It doesn't have a gym but for $5 you can use the YMCA 2 doors down. Has a restaurant connected to it that's been pretty good and has great views of the bay. Super convenient if you want to be near the ferry building and the embarcadero. At&t park isn't too far of a wall either.

I got a pretty small room that fits a queen bed and a table. There was one window which opened to a wall of another building and practically no sunlight either. Location is great, but there are options nearby so I will probably choose them next time.

Com Booked a room on here and they had the cheapest rates around… Stayed here for 3 nights in September and had a great stay! The rooms were very clean, a little on the small side however they were very nicely decorated. The view from the window was a wall from the building next door, making the room quite dark so I would recommend asking for a room with a better view. We used the restaurant inside the hotel which had a lovely view of the bay bridge and they do great breakfasts! Room service was great, the coffee facilities and bottled water were replaced daily. We hired a car on the last day to drive to Yosemite and they let us park right outside the hotel free of charge all morning. Over all a great base for exploring San Francisco and I would recommend others to stay here.

Review for bar/restaurant only. For the most part food and drinks are average. It's not terrible but it's not great. It's a little on the pricey side but expected for a hotel establishment. They have decent TVs… so its convenient to watch ball games. If you're going for the cocktails (Manhattans, old fashions etc) don't. Overall, its not a bad place. But in comparison there are other noteworthy places within walking distance to check out.

We have been going to San Francisco for 30 plus years and this was the first time we stayed along the Embarcadero. Loved it! The hotel is cozy and comfortable. Staff is friendly and efficient. A bonus is Perry's Restaurant on the bottom floor. Great place for breakfast and an adult beverage later in the day. We were in room 319 which had a great view of the bay bridge and it is right across from the Ferry Building. Definitely a do again.

Little boutique, great location, Perry's restaurant in lobby, free Peets coffee in the morning. Only downside was small rooms.

Hotel was okay, nothing special. Only parking option was valet for $45/day so we went to a ramp a couple blocks away. Could not see out of window in the room as it was frosted, but I think it was not an exterior facing window anyways. No breakfast. Small room and pricy, but that might be the norm in SF. Each room has an Android tablet in it, but I didn't have a reason to use it.

Absolutely one of the best hotel experiences we've ever had. Stayed one night and the staff was amazing, nice and very helpful. The quality of the hotel and rooms was fantastic. Would definitely recommend a stay here next here next time you're in SF!

Elegant boutique hotel within walking distance of Ferry Building and gorgeous views of the Bay Bridge. Very friendly staff, — front desk made great recommendations and Rose was very kind and attentive when checking me in. The room was very, very small but clean and comfortable. Would definitely stay there again.

They have great rooms and great service. Perry's is downstairs and room service is great. The rooms are clean and smell nice.

Nice, clean hotel, Friendly staff & great location. BUT, the parking situation is absolutely horrid. No guest parking, not even a parking lot or driveway to unload. You have to park on the street. Street signs are confusing, Meters are EXPENSIVE ($2 an hour w/ 1 hour limit) or pay $45 a night for the hotel to "valet" your car. All they do is take your car to an undisclosed parking lot (which I am not okay with. I prefer my vehicle accessible to me at all times). Hotel room were extremely small but comfy. They sufficed for the night.

Perry's bar is a good clean and convenient spot to grab a drink. I've only been here after work, so its definitely packed with that type of crowd. Nothing too fancy, just a solid place.

The hotel is in in a great location with a fantastic view of the bay bridge. The rooms are smaller than normal (because of the downtown location) but are very well appointed. As a bonus the hotel is overtop of a nice restraunt with a well appointed bar.

My significant other and I have stayed at The Inn at Union Square and The Hotel Griffon (two hotels that Norbert Mede manages) and we've had our best staycation experiences in SF there by far. I’ve referred colleagues and have heard similar sentiments. Definition of hospitable, professional, and simply absolutely awesome.

Great location — handy to the Ferry Bldg and the Embarcadero.

Had a really good experience in the Hotel. Although the rooms are not very big and some of them don't have a good window view, they attend every need you might have. Perry's restaurant is also a bonus for the guest so we have a good variety of options to have some breakfast/dinner. +1 for the staff that was extremely friendly and helpful.

This place is great. As others have mentioned the rooms aren't huge, but they are not lacking anything either. We had some technical difficulties with our TV but the staff was so quick to come help and made sure they could do anything to make our stay worth while. Everyone was friendly and I would recommend this hotel to anyone I know. Great staff, perfect location what more could you ask for.

Small boutique hotel. Bathroom was very small. The bed was comfortable so I slept well. I have nothing to complain about, but nothing to rave about either. It's in a great location in the financial district, not far from the Ferry Building.

A wonderful little gem of a hotel. True the rooms are small, and not many have views — but they are wonderfully appointed and very luxurious. The key to this hotel in my mind is the location, so central to the waterfront, shops, and restaurants. And the staff are really very friendly and helpful. I also recommend the attached bar for a rest from the sightseeing.
