Bunk beds were a little bit small and rattley but it’s a hostel so what can you expect, everything else was perfect tho really good and new showers, bathrooms and toilets, downstairs area was also so

Great hostel. Very chill atmosphere. The highlight for me was the little birdy Kintaro. The service was fantastic aswell. Location is close to whatever you need in Wakayama. I would come again.

Hotel Sanrakuso is beachfront with helpful and hospitable staff. Our Japanese-style room had a wonderful view of the beach, which was picturesque at sunrise and sunset. The room was clean and cozy.

Location/Transportation:
Even though it's not a 5-star hotel, it is the closest to the Shirahama beach i. E. Just 100m behind the beach and the best centralized view of the entire bay.

Such an amazing hotel off the beaten path. A very delicious breakfast both buffet style and traditional Japanese style. The Onsen water is absolutely amazing. Great quality.

I have been to at least 20 onsen areas/hotels in Japan and this is one of the few I will definitely consider a repeat visit.

Dormy inn wakayama was my first contact with this hotel chain and I was pretty surprised!
The rooms are in a decent size, the bed is confortable and the towels are great.

Room is small but not super crowded. Has vending machines located at multiple floors, cash only.
Free popsicle near the onsen. Free noodle from 9:30pm to 11:00pm.

A sea-fronting Marriott that has winds so strong in winter but so comforting for an outdoor setting of ofuro on its top floor. We stayed 2 nights and had a good time.

Very nice room. The tatami sleeper was really comfortable, better than the bed. The bathroom is tiny, but no issue. There is a rooftop open area bath. You enjoy the fresh air while you bath there.

I stayed here for 2 day and it was wonderful! The room was incredibly clean and comfortable, noise insulation was extremely good.

One of the best location in Wakayama city, hotel located next to train station and shopping mall with servral restaurants and supermarket.

A most wonderful onsen hotel. The onsen is perfect, with 2 indoor onsens, and an outdoor onsen with a Zen garden. There's a view to die for from the onsen and the rooms.

Spacious rooms, very well organized. Great large bath — onsen with outside area and magnificent view.
Delicious breakfast with a lot of options, including western food and fresh fruits.

It was my first time visiting this hotel, drawn by the cave hot spring. The hotel is so big, there are 3 buildings and many hot springs.

I had a great stay and the facilities were great. There's a Lawson and gift shop in the hotel. The onsen is amazing with the cave onsen particularly standing out.

This is located about 7 minutes walk from the main town. A bus stop is just a minute from the from door. Amazing food and perfect onsen water quality. They gave both indoor and outdoor onsen pools.

The hotel is not new but it's beautiful. It has great private and public onsen free of charge. The dinner experience is amazing. Breakfast is only japanese style, so you will not get coffee 😜

This is one of the famous onsen hotels within the vicinity of Kumano Hongji area, it is ideal for pre-hike stay for preparation/familiarization of the area or a post-hike relaxation to wrap the hike.

Dinner & breakfast (hot buffet style) are super exquisite, plus excellent service.

The venue of the guest house is excellent, just 1-minute walk from bus station 'Santuanpeki, which is 30 minute bus from JR station (JPY480).

Great kitchen. Private rooms were available. Hoat was happy to help with forwarding luggage tp our next stop.

We really enjoyed our 2 night stay in this wonderful ryokan. The room was very comfortable and had an amazing ocean view, onsen was fabulous, the food in the restaurant was very nice.

I had an amazing experience at Kyukamura. The rooms are beautiful and relaxing… It was difficult to leave while looking at the beauty of the room.

A lovely hotel with a great spa! The pool was super fun, and the sauna and spa areas were really relaxing. The staff were all incredibly kind and welcoming, which made the stay even better.

The hotel is immaculate. The onsen is lovely. I used the East one as they are alternated. Only issue is I also used the outside onsen that has a lovely view.

On a rainy day of our arrival, we were greeted by a staff member in a parking lot with umbrellas for us, and him being ready to haul our luggage.

Pros:
•I don't see the point in just choosing a room here. Be sure to get a superior Japanese-style room with an open air bath or even a bungalow, and definitely one with a sea view.

What a great experience! The hotel is in a quiet, beautiful location with plenty of nature to explore nearby—perfect for relaxing or hiking. The free shuttle from the train station was a big plus.

Nice hotel with amazing Onsen (indoor and outdoor) and a great dinner buffet. I enjoyed the nice view from my room, especially the sun rise was amazing (I stayed there mid April).

The room was so spacious for 2 of us. It fits 2 beds, 1 tatami room, closet and all. Huge! It has both public/private onsens with open/indoor space.

I recently stayed at this hotel in December 2025 and now I’m considering traveling to a similar place in another town.

We really enjoyed our stay at Musashi. The hospitality was next level and we felt so welcomed by the staff.

The room was old but clean. It feels like staying at museum.
I read some reviews regarding old bathroom but we thought this is ok because it suits the atmosphere.

This hotel is truly one of a kind and perhaps the best hotel I've stayed at. We were greeted by the staff at the entrance when we arrived, and they let us have dinner first after our several hour

All 12 guest rooms are detached and equipped with an open-air bath, allowing you to enjoy the thick hot spring water as much as you like.

The stuff were very friendly, always smiling and making you feel welcome.
My native language isn't English, not very well and fluent, but they try their best to communicate with us in English.

Modern hotel and rooms are very clean. Good sea view. Complimentary onsen facility next to Kushiro market, about 10 minutes walk from hotel.
Hotel is very strict about check in time.

You can enjoy fresh seafood by BBQ in the facility. There is a beach nearby, so Kuroshio Onsen is the best place to let the tide on your body flow.

We had a sunset buffet here, pretty good. The hotel has endless pool and beautiful ocean views. Didn't stay, no words for the room.

There's so much going for this hotel, but it's one of those don't judge a book by its cover.
The ocean view from the room is spectacular. The buffet breakfast and dinner, awesome.
