Wakayama Hotels

We received a warm and friendly welcome from the owner, who kindly communicated with us using her handheld translator.

The property is very close to the beach and in the center of the shopping district. There is a French restaurant next door. The room on the 4th floor is spacious and good for family travel.

Of all the hotels that I stayed in Japan on my 2025 trip, this hotel was probably the best of the lot.

We have stayed here a few times. The rooms are always clean and spacious. Nice bath.
The breakfast is great and they have an omelette chef. Good range of foods from traditional Japanese to western.

The room is huge and has a beautiful view right on the beach. The staff is quite attentive and friendly. The biggest downside is the restaurant, the breakfast is served between 7:30 — 8:00.

Nicely located at the shore close to a beach. Room is spacious and clean. Cleaning of room every third day but they provide new towels and pick-up trash every day.

Best hotel during my Easter trip in Osaka and Wakayama (Shirahama). Nice meal and onsen, a comfort place to stay with warm service.

A quiet hotel with natural onsen (indoor and outdoor).
Staff are very helpful and accommodating.
Provides coin laundry.
Beautiful onsen with amenities. Free ice cream at lobby.

Everything was good! Clean and comfortable!
If anything, would request bigger water bottles.
Only negative was parking.

20251029 — the only 4 star highest rated hotel that is located just next to jr wakayama station.

The room was bigger than expected and very clean. Everything we needed was provided, and they even thoughtfully prepared earplugs.

Clean, minimalistic and cozy place.
The hosts are very nice and accommodating!
We stayed for 3 night and I would go back again.

My stay at Lacoma was very pleasant. After continuously visiting so many different places on my trip from Tokyo to Kyoto to Osaka and Nara, I needed a slower pace and Lacoma stay was perfectly that.

Summary : Lovely host (can't believe I found a uni senior of all people 🤣), lovely place, lovely atmosphere, wonderful. 優しいホストさん (まさか大学の大大大先輩) 、素敵な場所、あたたかいおもてなし。是非来てほしい。

It was a miracle this place had an available room late at night because I could not enter my campsite after 7pm. The hostess welcomed me personally and was extremely helpful despite my late arrival.

The owner is very nice, and we communicate through a translation app. She is very helpful and even helped me when I needed luggage delivery service to Katsuura.

Great place to stay at if you’re planning on hiking Kumano Kodo — starting at or near Hongu Taisha. The service here was 10/10. Host was very kind and even helped us set up luggage transportation.

I didn’t stay there but we took the optional tour from this location. Our guide was a local and very knowledgable for this area.

Super staff and service. Beautiful hotel. The room and bed are a very good size. Everything you could need. About 10mins walk from the station. Lots of traditional dining options along the way.

The room was very clean and spacious, provided with complete amenities. Seamless check in and check out process, free drink upon arrival. Definitely will com back!

Bunk beds were a little bit small and rattley but it’s a hostel so what can you expect, everything else was perfect tho really good and new showers, bathrooms and toilets, downstairs area was also so

One of the best hostels I stay in Japan. And I stayed in quite a bit of them! Female dorm room set up is so Japanese with tatami floor and only 2 bunk beds which makes it homey and spacious.

Really great location (near Wakayama sta. ) Same entrance with Hotel Granvia Wakayama.
I can leave luggage before check-in and after check-out.

This place is quite difficult for me to find, as I can't read any Japanese sign and the Google map directions wasn't clear at all. (It's inside a hotel on the 6th floor. That's why I give it a 4-star.

I’ve stayed here for a week and I think this is the best business hotel in the area because it’s probably the newest one. Everything’s very clean and the service is lovely!

Close to station. New build. We had rooms on the 13th floor. Great view over the city. Used the Onsen. It is really nice. The staff were super friendly and very helpful. It is close to the JR station.

A must-stay place, especially for solo travelers—affordable, clean, and efficient!
The location is right outside JR Wakayama Station.

Really great location (near Wakayama sta. ) Same entrance with Hotel Granvia Wakayama.

Staying for 2 nights. Just the the very first day already feel the staffs are very nice & helpful. Have staff who is able to communicate in english. Room though small but clean, cosy and equipped.

One of my preffered places to stay in wakayama. Friendly staff and quiet capsules with comfortable beds and great shower/bathroom facilities.

I recently stayed at Kukuru, a charming capsule hotel conveniently located near Wakayama Station, and I couldn’t be more pleased with my experience.

Excellent location, just behind the station.
Rooms are large and good view.
The breakfast was excellent and the spread was wide enough for 2nd helpings.

Very close to Wakayama JR station. The staff was very polite and the room was massive actually. I was so surprised by how large the room was and I booked a standard one. Clean and spacious.

This hotel is a bit on the older side, but it's well-kept and our four night stay was absolutely wonderful.

Hotel room is very spacious. The best thing about this hotel is the service by the staff.

Big thanks to the front desk staff who were able to help us in English—it really made a huge difference, especially when it came to making dinner reservations!

I really enjoyed staying here. We are travelling around Japan and this is hotel and probably my favourite so far.
The hotel appears new, it is stylish and spacious.

Staying with family for Easter Holiday. It’s a great value for money with private onsen and a stylish and comfortable interior. Staff are very helpful too.

Located in a quiet neighbourhood. Took a while to find the place. But what a place. Brilliant view of the sea. Private onsen and stylist furnishing. Totally recommended.

Here has everything you need: a kitchen, bathtub, and smart toilet. Sleeping on the tatami floor offers a unique cultural experience.

The location was very good just very close to Ginza street. Staff was super helpful as they helped us to book two restaurants for two nights (we would not be able as website only in Japanese).

Location is not convenient if you are not driving, it located between two bus stops, you need to walk uphill about 10-15minutes, but the room is nice and quiet around the area, also have Barbecue

This is located about 7 minutes walk from the main town. A bus stop is just a minute from the from door. Amazing food and perfect onsen water quality. They gave both indoor and outdoor onsen pools.

The hotel is not new but it's beautiful. It has great private and public onsen free of charge. The dinner experience is amazing. Breakfast is only japanese style, so you will not get coffee 😜

Fabulous experience! The hotel is located on a private island with a private walk path and many onzen hotsprings. The room is very beautiful with a wonderful view.

A truly unique hotel. This is where Bond would have stayed in the 1970s if he came to Japan. It’s sort of super traditional, dated 20th century and luxury modern all at the same time.

We had a wonderful stay at Kokuu Guesthouse and felt very welcome. We were traveling with a toddler, and the staff never made us feel that this was any inconvenience.

Positive experience staying here. Ryochi san is incredibly helpful and hospitable, making the whole experience very positive. Rooms are cozy and spacious too.

Really liked the old school feel on the minshuku I stayed at.
I think the room smelled like a KTV room (ages and ages of people smoking and odor removal spray I guess.

Think you can tell a lot about a person based on their friends and how they treat others.

The location is perfect for those who want to visit the seaside cliff, only 1 minnte to bus stop.

Nice place and staff. The owner make sure you have everything you need. You have a towel free of charge and a lot of cheap food (snacks, drinks, food cheaper than konbini) you can buy.

I recently stayed at Guest Living MU Nanki Shirahama and had a delightful experience. 🏖️ The location is fantastic—just a short walk to Shirarahama Beach, making it perfect for beach lovers.

Very big rooms, unfortunately the entrance is up two flights of stairs.

Location is perfect especially for traveller using public transport. This was my final stop after walking Kumano kodo.

Well equipped hostel for light weight travelers. The room is very cozy and nicely separated giving everyone their own enclosed personal space.

Browsing through photos taken more than 10 years ago, guesthouse owner is friendly n thoughtful. He placed two warmer under our blanket during the chilly winter weather.

This is a small but lovely and peachfull hostel. I feel like home here and Kojisan is very kind and friendly. He speak English very well and really willing to help me everything.

I absolutely love this hostel, though I would never call it a hostel. I've stayed in far less comfortable ryokans. The room was huge and very comfortable, absolutely spotless.

Hiroko and Kazu (the owners) are amazing people who were very kind and helpful. Hiroko even picked me up from the train station!
